I wish you would use actual videos of the repair you're doing and show us where these parts are because I would imagine there are people that find that information useful like myself because those little tiny computers are everywhere you could be looking at one and have no idea what the fuck it is. Your preloaded videos that are looped doesn't really help although but it is better than a blank screen
Great video thanks, my 2011 Subaru Outback never had any transmission issues till I pulled off highway and car started slipping and only drove another 100 ft, now it just slips, won’t move, fluid good, set codes P0700, C0232, C0057 C0042 C0231 C0242 B0101 and B0102. Definitely seems to be wiring issues, bad ground ect. Where would you start ? Should I back probe TCM ?
My Autel diagnosed my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe as having a bad transmission control unit. I just received a used one from ebay and want to learn how to replace it. Can't find a RUclips video to show how. I'm 70, on SSA, and can't afford to pay a mechanic. Can you direct me to a video to show how to replace the tcm? Thank you much.
how about p1784-reverse/low pressure circuit, i replaced the solenoid pack.. then installed pan but I put back old fluid since it was said don't mix. it ran a little better ,but just to see if any codes popped up I put it on the OBD and found p1781 (OD pressure switch circuit) but then it starting running horrible.
2003 eclipse gt v6 3.OL No metal shavings on magnetic plug or in fluid, doesn't smell burnt.AND WONT DROP INTO ANY GEARS. I'm new to this and need to know where the automatic transmission control module is in my car. I'm starting to believe it's missing. Because I don't get any codes on my OBDll.
Hey Peter, Thank you for the video, it sounds kinda like the issue I am having...Does this sound familiar to you... I have a R52 2006 Cooper S convertible with 136k miles, automatic. I replaced the valve body right after I bought it at 119k miles on 10/2016. never changed transmission fluid since. Lately while driving...all in a sudden it shifts hard when I move shift gear from park to drive or reverse, and I the EP code appears. it get stuck on 3rd gear. So I shut it off and back on, then it shifts normal even with the EP code on, and sometimes the EP code goes a way. I erase the codes and the car drives great for weeks, then the problem occurs again, I do the same routine and it fixes it. this has been going on for a while. The codes I get on the scanner are P0700 and P0961. Through my search I am being told it might be the TCM or the transmission fluid. I also heard that I might need to replace the transmission. I love the car but ca'tn take it on long trips for the fear of it get stuck on 3rd gear...that would be a problem if I was 2-3 hours away from home. So this is dilemma...Appreciate any feed back....Thank you
Check your transmission fluid. If it looks burnt, you probably have physical transmission issues. Outside of that it could be the tcm. See if the ground to the tcm is free of corrosion....
I have a 2007 ford freestyle with 3.0 AWD that wont shift out of low gear and the scan says code P700 Ext. but I cant find it...Where is it located on my SUV.....I cant find nothing on it
There is a process you turn key on on position and after 10 secs crank it up and let it run for 30seconds and do that process 2-3 times is what I found on it.
Yes sir, it needs to be programed to the ECU/ECM as the ECM needs to be told or updated about the module replacement, thereby rectifying issues you've experienced with the old tcm.
Does this apply whit no reverse problems too? Cause my G6 it’s drivable lo power when it start run but still doing 100 mph but no reverse that’s the only one problem
I have a t/c light at oil temp and flashing Brake light. Happened after my main relay fuse blew and wouldn’t turn on. Are those any of the lights that would come on if I have a bad Tcm.
It's possible..... Most of the time you will get like 7 different codes and stuff in your car working when you did not turn them on like windshield wipers etc or if you plug in an obd2 scanner it won't scan all the way through.
Hi I just saw your video. I have a Hyundai IX35 2013 model.....do you have an idea where it is located? how can it be changed? I have used a computer to diagnose, and it says TCM power unit low, even though have no check-engine light on my dashboard.
@@peterl6095 the dealer replaced the tcm and couldn’t get it to read after replacing the clutch now Continental transmission has it they also replaced the TCM and couldn’t get it to read they finally got it to read but they say it is driving funny and may have to put more miles on it it seems they are lost also

Computers have ruined cars
Yeah. All about the money.
I wholeheartedly agree! Manual transmissions and cars made before 2000 are the way to go.
Nah
I agree wholeheartedly. Give me an older carbureted v8 any day
This did explain the fix the issue in any way shape or form
It's a ford explorer old model in the video and it doesn't have separate transmission module. PCM module works for engine and transmission.
all he did was ramble on and on about bad TCM we know this and all I want is How to fix it
Good advice

Why is the video aimlessly taking us around the engine compartment. Is this meant for audio only?
THANK U...
Wonderful video, explained a lot. But I thought he was going to show us where it actually is under the hood.😂
Looks like Gm more than likely on the driver side left of engine under power steering
So I’m having issues with my tcm but it’s saying something about the Egr idk if I should replace that 1st

I think with Fords the TCM is inside the transmission.
I got error code c1613. HECU CAN communication. TCM wrong-matched Transmission Failure (only system with TCS). I have a 2017 kia soul base model.
Heey bro ...do you know about the nissan caravan nv350...? Where is the TCM located on it ?
Prob next to the ecm close to the timing cover.
@@peterl6095 the ecm is under the driver seat ....but we not seeing the tcm anywhere inside the engine bay or under dash

Thank you. I will check the fluid and finger crossed it’s not burnt. Assuming if it’s dark or not red then it’s maybe burnt.

my 2000 ranger shifts great BUT will not shift into passing gear. Any thoughts for me? tx
Check your transmission fluid...
Check any codes....use rislone transmission fix.
...or try at205.
I have two codes showing up, P0700 and P0741. Should I just change the TCM itself and then have it reprogrammed?
Did you get your TCM changed and if so was it hard or expensive to re program??? Thanks
Hi I have a 2002 ford sport track has rebuilt transmission and now the od light flashes mechanic can’t figure out will it be. Tcm
Why you keep moving your camera back and forth make people dizzy due
Where is it located?

Try rewiring a ground wire from the tcm to the frame of the car.

Why not show the t c m why show the motor

My Tcm was replaced but won’t read now? What could be the issue?
Try grounding it. It might have to be updated by the dealer.
