Funny back then we all listened to the radio in our car , at home, and at work . We went out to concerts and cookouts and party’s . No god dam cell phones or computers. We talked and listened to one another. The absolute best time of this now 60 year olds life . I live in today’s world with only those memories to get me thru .
I grew up in a little town on the New South Wales south coast. This was close to my favourite song. I applied for and was accepted into the Air Force as a pilot in 1987. I swore that if I passed the pilot course, which had a traditional pass rate of just 50%, I would come back to my home town, sit down at South Beach with a beer, in my RAAF uniform, with my newly awarded pilot wings, and look out over the beautiful ocean while listening to this song. I did pass. I did sit down at South Beach with a beer, looking out over the ocean listening to Cool Change, whilst contemplating what I'd achieved. I felt bloody good.
They say Don Hensley of the Eagles is the "golden throat" of rock, but this guy, Glenn Shorrock has a golden voice that is a contender for sure! Love, love, LOVE this song!
I feel your words, this is my song with my dad. Its always been in my eyes, 40 odd years on we go. Dad whistles this song perfect and beautifully. I told hime 20 years ago that this song connected me to him during a drive from the airport while i was home for a visit. Fro. Then on he always whisled what musically played.
I think that there's a reason for this. The people using the Little River Band name now are imposters. A Guy bought the rights to the music and is touring playing LRB's music with his own band.
LRB are with out a doubt the best Australian band to date and I am a 74 year old veteran who's seen a hell of a lot of bands. Thanks LRB for the fabulous memories ❤️.
These guys are every bit as good with their harmony as Don Henley and the Eagles, maybe even better. And I am a very big fan of the Eagles. This song was on the radio when I got my driver's license in November. Right before Christmas break my parents let me miss most of the morning of school so I could drive my brother to Galveston and bring his car back. This song played 3 or r times on that trip.
I think LRB is one of the most underrated bands of the 70’s-80’s. The way they harmonized wasn’t something you hear much of these days. I kinda think of LRB as one of the first “boy bands”. Cute as hell, can sing, harmonize, and all the ladies loved them! Keep on a rockin’ Glenn.
you're on point. Beeb, Wayne and Graeham compliment Glenn so well and they sing it well both in studio and live...John Farnham had a different style and some liked it but I still prefer Glenn's laid back style as though he's only talking to you and not really trying to make an effort out of it...love LRB
Never has been a better band than LRB, ever. I was honored to attend their concert in Fairbanks Alaska 35 years ago and they were as they always are, #1. So many beautiful songs but my favorite is 'Light of Day'. all their song demonstrate their profession and love for music but Light of Day is Magical from the 'First Under the Wire' Album. Thanks LRB, you guys are the greatest and thank for sticking around all these years! GOD SPEED AND BLESSINGS!
Growing up in the late 60's and 1970's was when the music scene exploded with the best musical talent. I bought that album and wore out 10 nettles on my Technics turntable. I still get goosebumps everytime I play this beautiful song from one of my favorite bands growing up.
Just lost my Mom to Covid. I've listened to this song like 50-times in the last 3- weeks. She was 70 and very healthy...BUT, I really think she was ready for a "Cool Change." The stress of life gave her daily migraines that haunted her. The pain is almost unbearable....I miss her so much!!!
Part of music’s beauty is creating a vision & feeling emotion. LRB did this like few other bands could. Songs that make you want to live and love life.
Just watched a music show on tv and a aussie interviewing the eagles mentioned that both bands had an incredible similarity in the harmony in their voices, and it brought me here to listen to the song, 55 yrs old, brings back memories,
Little River Band had so many great songs - many of them hits! Sadly, they were underrated and pushed to the side for other "hit' making artists. Their harmonys are spot on. I really enjoyed the practice session before the show.
Wow. Never saw this version before of one of my favorite songs. And it's gold. Didn't miss a note. Usually big harmonies are tough to reproduce live, but these guys killed it. Love that they showed them practicing just that before hand.
Brings back ol memories of being out in the middle of Atlantic & Mediteranean oceans for 100+ days on the USS Independence CV-62..in the early 80's...great times..
By far the most underrated band of all time. You can feel the love and passion they had for the music. They didn't do it for fame or fortune. That's what makes them great.
This is my favorite song by Little River Band. Wow just listened to the video and sent chills up and down it was a time when I got sober and stayed sober since 1983 amen A guy named Andy refers to this song and some how it stuck with me. The original LRB. Not the knockoff imposters.
