Displayport used to be the best option for PC for many years, until HDMI 2.1 started to be adopted on newer displays, consoles, and GPU's. It's more complex than it needs to be, but it really comes down to bandwidth, and what kind of ports your devices have. Displayport 1.4 has a total available bandwidth of 32.4 gbps and HDMI 2.1 has 48 gbps. This means that if your display and gpu have the correct port that will allow for the most throughput of data- that should be the option you choose. But beware, not all "HDMI 2.1" displays actually allow a full 48 gbps to pass through, although it's difficult for most users to be able to tell. The older versions of both display standards did not allow for the multitude of features, such as simultaneous VRR, GSYNC, 10 bit color, or 4k 240Hz- whereas now with HDMI 2.1 and Displayport 1.4, all of these can be achieved, albeit with display stream compression that's virtually lossless. I can see how a lot of people get confused.
Are you 100% sure that the matte isnt to bad? Im looking to switch from my ips and I want there to be a visible difference in the monitors and not the same matte finish with not alot of pop.
I don't think it looks bad at all, it's more of a preference thing. For one, it controls glare very well in a bright room or if you have a window that blasts light into your room. It also prevents the distracting purple tint that QD oled's are known to get when light hits them. Now, if you can control the light in the room then I'd say go for glossy all day. There is a slightly more "pop "on a glossy screen, but the G6 Oled is a fantastic monitor. If you guys want, I can do a side-by-side comparison between the AW2725DF and the G6 oled so you can compare. Let me know if you'd like to see that.
@@theteedstertechi think i’m going to go with alienware as i can control the light in my room fairly well and i will benefit from a greater contrast/ more “pop” in color .Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question man!
I haven't encountered VRR Flicker on the G6 oled, but your results may vary. Having VRR control in the monitor eliminates it. My pc allows for very consistent high framerates which helps, and I may not be sensitive to it.
I have a very strange problem with this monitor. I have 4070 ti and use hdmi cable from the box. Every time I alt tab in/from an exclusive fullscreen game, like CS2 or Cyberpunk, I have a black screen for about 5 sec with HDMI1 logo (like monitor turns off and on). I tried everything tweaking HDR, G-sync, VRR. Updating drivers, uninstalling nvidea drivers, playing with nvidea control panel, different monitor settings and so on. Switching to DP (from the box). Nothing seems to help and it's frustrating. MB someone knows, how to fix this?
There are several steps I recommend you try. First, ensure you are using the provided HDMI 2.1 cable that came with your monitor. Update your monitors software and download and install the drivers from Samsungs website. If that doesn't fix the issue, try using a different HDMI cable or switch to display port. Also, reinstall your graphics card drivers. Wipe the old drivers using DDU (display driver unitstaller).
I had the same problem, to me it happened in League of legends and was caused by the fps cap, in LoL the max fps being capped at 240 so i just had to change the cap to 360 to match the screen 360 Hz. I'm not sure why you encounter this in games like Cyberpunk or CS2 but it may be the same issue, the monitor takes 5 sec to adjust at least this was the case for me, i didn't have this problem in any other game like Cyberpunk or other multiplayer games. Hope it helps.
I couldn't find a lot of information on Upgrade version 1002.2, other than this update lowered input latency at 60hz. Other than that, I couldn't detect anything noticeable. I did not break anything for me, so if you choose to update it, there should be no worries!
Is the odyssey g8 oled is better than g6 oled in terms of performance or they are just the same regardless that odyssey g8 is 34 inch and curved ? I already have g7 27 inch 240 hz va curved and im so confused about it especially i love curved monitors but i didnt try 34 ultrawide before , so what is ur opinion bro ? Will the ultrawide will be so big or i just stick to g6 oled flat monitor ?
If you play a lot of competitive games, the g6 oled is probably the better choice for you in terms of size and max framerate. The g8 ultrawide is still an awesome display, but in my opinion it's what you want if you need the extra screen space and if you want a little better immersion.
Is there anything special you have to do to make the speakers work on the monitor? And when Turning it vertical is it supposed to swap automatically or do you have to manually do it?
This monitor does not have built in speakers. When you orient a monitor vertically, you need to manually set it in your operating systems display settings.
Hello I'm planning to buy this. Do you think it can do both productivity and gaming at thesame time? I'm looking for a monitor for work and play. Thanks!
I wouldn't recommend trying to game and do productivity on a single 27-inch monitor. You should try to go for at least a double monitor setup. You can also grab a G9 if you find one for a good price.
For those who are wondering....The G60SD is not well suited for console gaming. You would be better off spending your money on a nice OLED TV with 120hz and adaptive sync.
If you think about it, you're not getting the most out of the monitor or the console. The console can't output its 4k mode, and in the case of the Xbox series x, it won't be able to output HDR and VRR simultaneously. Then if you would kindly explain to us how you get your console to output a 360hz signal in any game.
If you have an xbox series x, could you please test and see if HDR works for you? I bought this monitor and HDR is not working on my series x, i understand this monitor is targeted towards PC, but due to me having 2 gaming set up i really liked the design of it and really wanted it even if it was for console
I've got some bad news for you about xbox series x HDR on this monitor. Since the series x only supports HDR output in 4k modes, the only way to get it working is to disable adaptive sync in the monitors menu. I don't think there is currently any way to get HDR and VRR working at the same time in any mode.
So I took another look at the menu and this monitor does not have the ultrawide game view option built into the menu. You could still achieve this by setting up a custom resolution from your PC.

@Agoniii I use HDMI 2.1 with no issues on a 40 series card. Your 3070 also supports HDMI 2.1, so it should work great for you too. DP 1.4 will also work fine. Theoretically HDMI 2.1 can transmit at a higher bandwidth, but either will work.

The two monitors are very similar; however, I prefer a glossy screen. Additionally, the MSI can take full advantage of the PS5 or Xbox. The G6 Oled cannot.
