  • Our guest on The Old Man & The Three this week is former NBA player and host of All The Smoke, Matt Barnes. In this clip, Matt and JJ discuss the concept of 'ring chasing.' Matt gets into why he went for a ring with The Golden State Warriors and JJ discusses why he ultimately did not bc of how much he deserves to have a bond with those he wins with (like The Los Angeles Clippers). This is one of those episodes that feels more like a conversation between old friends than an interview.The full interview drops tomorrow morning!

That's a great team but I think it's so unfortunate and upsetting that they didn't make it. The Lakers is so beatable during that series and I think the disadvantage of the Magic is inexperience, they didn't even reach the conference finals the season before and then suddenly not only conference but NBA finals. The pressure is too much for them to beat a veteran LA team. Jj should've been a Champ, damn.

    Matt’s such a cool dude, I don’t agree with him on everything, but he knows basketball I can say that much
    Would love to see him talk to Bron on the podcast sometime, just for various reasons
    Same with JJ they have the best pods hands down, yet our “analyst” are paid caricatures of a hater

    Not a Clippers fan, but I wish someone would do a 2K sim on the LobCity era winning a chip, especially the 2014-15 Clippers.

    it’s 2022. why are they still holding mics ?

    • @calamorta
      @calamorta 2 года назад

      Yeah, they should add better mics so there's no need for that. Or at least use a smaller mic on their shirts.

    Matt Barnes will be an easy $12-18 million a year guy in today's league. He's basically the guy every winning team needs to have: the shooter who can guard the league's top wings.

    KD deserves his rings but he knows it would've meant more to win with OKC or a team that needed him to win it all. They won the championship without him, went 73-9, and were up 3-1 in the finals. I could have had KD's spot on the roster and still had a 75% chance to win those 2 rings. As much as he wanted to leave OKC, winning there is what would have fulfilled him the most. Even after he became a champ he said to himself "this is it?" It's because he just joined a dynasty that was already in motion instead of creating one. It's not KD's fault they didn't win in OKC though, it's Sam Presti for trading Harden. They had 90pts guaranteed with just KD Russ and Harden, they would have won a ring. It probably would have came the last year lebron was in Miami or the first year lebron was back in Cleveland when the warriors won their first title.
