      For sure. I saw them in a SF club right before they released Ride the Lightning. And twice in '85. Day on the Green and a Sacramento show in December that year. They opened for Y&T with Armored Saint on the bill. Back then they weren't as tight and definitely still honing their chops. We were all there for the intensity and to be part of pit. Of course technology, click tracks, etc have all evolved, but these guys can still play at a high level.

      @@ariemacca This is for TV, so might be cleaned up, but I can assure you that the 7 times I saw Met live from 2009-2013 they always played every piece of music as-is.
      Solos had flaws but everything was real, unfaked, oldschool honesty - And I MUCH prefer that to the pop concerts.
      But I wouldn't mind if they had to cheat a little bit on their old days - I feel bad for those who didn't learn about Met till like 2020 or so and still wanted to hear just how great they CAN be when on full song. Such a great part of music history and just living legends!

    • @2760ade
      @2760ade Год назад +15

      @@barath4545 I don't think James' voice was cleaned up at all here. During their last tour he sounded just as good as this live, he has just for some reason got better as he has aged! I first saw Metallica live over thirty years ago and his voice was nowhere near as good then - weird but true! Can't vouch for Kirk though, i honestly think he has become lazy?

    • @JackieCampbellMusic
      @JackieCampbellMusic 11 месяцев назад +12

      @@2760ade there is definitely some sort of “live autotune” pitch correction going on. It has a very distinctive quick jump sound that isn’t common with the typical undulation of a human voice even when that voice is quickly bouncing from note to note. At 1:26 you can hear it very clearly on the word “destruction” particularly the “tion” part. Having said that Hetfield is still a badass with an incredible voice. Maybe he’s using autotune as a safety net since it’s such an enclosed space making it harder for him to hear himself clearly in his in ear monitors. Either way it doesn’t take anything away from this awesome performance but yes it is there.

Same song both sides, play flip, play flip. I bet I listened to this song 10,000 times over the next few years. I know the cassette broke multiple times and my father showed me how to repair the tape, so every few months Id take it apart and fix it. By the time Justice came out the 8+ minute Master of Puppets was only 4 minutes long. I was hooked by this song. Still to this day, everytime I see James and Kirk playing a harmonized guitar solo, it sends chills up and down my spine. Those two guys have no clue how much of an influence they have been on me throughout my life. Metallica is the greatest band to ever exist, and I am thankful I was alive during their time to rule the earth!
