    You completely forgot to mention his knee injury that took away his explosive athletism and that he was never the same player after. It wasnt coaching it was the injury. His game was based on being a apex athlete and once that was gone he had a hard time

    From how you explained it i really feel for the dude. He was failed by everyone else. He wasn’t his own downfall. He put the work in and did everything right, he just got screwed by life and didn’t get a confidence boost when he needed it

You gotta listen to how the guy explains it when he said Seventh felt like the thought of him being criticized for doing something wrong was detrimental to his confidence. Bruh.     Why do so many players go to schools where they might not play? If it were me I'd rather go to a slightly weaker team where I could get a lot of run. You can't get better when you're sitting on the bench.

      It’s because it’s a mix of bad advice, the label of going to a strong ball program, lack of knowledge, and also the thirst to want to go to the league right away (one and done). Exactly, going to a weaker program but with more minutes, stronger role with a coach who wants to develop your game for the pro level is 10x better.

    Bro, success at a young age doesn’t mean you are destined for greatness. Some people peak early but by the time you get in college the rest of the field has caught up. I knew dudes who were dunking at twelve who didn’t even make it to the collegiate level.

    I know how he feels too. I was dunking & all that freshman year. As I kept getting older kids was catching up. I still sit & remember the days I was that MAN!! Makes you sit & wonder what you could have done to change things..

      @@TonyJackaloni I hope not. Kevin was an assistant at Georgetown when Jeff Greene played there and he’s still in the league. He was head coach at Binghamton University and led them to an NCAA tournament appearance. So, I think it would be hard to blame him with his résumé.

      @@InitiallyJB I think Kevin is more interested in helping kids from this area. He’s not chasing the limelight at big schools. He lead Binghamton to an NCAA appearance a few years ago. Things didn’t work out there because of a minor scandal involving some of his players. He wasn’t involved, but; he was held accountable for their actions.

      crazy to read something like this tbh...I remember me playing on my mini-hoop in my room as a kid, trying to imitate everyone of his moves because I was so fascinated. Gave me real goosebumps once I reviewed the mixtape recently because I associate such positive memories with that video.

    Crazy how good you have to be to be able to make it in the NBA as a guard.... This dude was the best player in the state coming out of high school... Could jump higher than anyone else could imagine... And still was struggling to get consistent minutes in college.

    As a tar heel fan it’s obvious his knee was never ever the same. Easy to say unc was not the place for him but let’s be honest. You would not have played him over a all American, final four most outstanding player and national champion Joel berry either. Maybe roy was a bit old school but you yourself said he played in every game he was ever available to play at North Carolina

    The kid made a mistake going to NC when there already was a suspr star point guard. I would've gone to a school where they need a guard a d then shine. Being behind someone and that impact csn ruin your play

      Yeah, seriously. People are really blaming UNC for him not developing into an NBA star? They produce the most NBA players of any school, or close to it. He was just a tremendous athlete who really couldn't hack it playing against top competition.

    Injuries are certainly a hinderance and can turn a career around quickly but more than that is are your really playing bc of your unconditional love for any sport (Jordan,Kobe,Lebron,Doncic,Jeter,Trout,
    Messi,Reinaldo) or are you playing bc there are conditions predicated on family and the people around you 🤷‍♂️😳 When you work unconditionally,the morning weight room and the 500 shots or 300 baseball swings daily is something you look forward to.When you do things with conditions,those 500 shots,300 swings and miles of running for elite endurance are impossible..

    With Seventh Woods , it was mental definitely. I can relate, Ben Simmons is another example .You can have Lebron James talent but without confidence it’s means nothing.

      I was just saying this. Guys like Bennet, Fultz and Ben lost confidence and couldn’t handle the pressure. Not everyone can because they weren’t praised too much like Lebron or Zion (in the beginning). Zion didn’t have this affect him (Moriah situation) because he already was treated like a king so much at the start of his career and high school/college.

    A guard who cannot shoot consistently will not see much playing time. He was only a 4* recruit, not a 5* by the time he graduated from high school. From Rivals, the two guys ranked ahead of him were Nick Ward and Matthew Moyer. Moyer ended up at GWashington in his senior year and average 10 ppg. He's not doing buckets now. Ward is in the second division of a Spanish league making around $80k/year. Kyle Guy was after Woods and is in the NBA. De'Riante Jenkins was ranked after Guy and is playing in Sweden for about $60k/year.

      High school rankings are all over the place. I do not guys like Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard, Paul George, and Ja Morant were ranked in the top 100 on any recruiting services in high school.

    A lot of these guys can't play team basketball. Isolation ball at the AAU and High School level don't prepare these players for college ball.

    Unfortunately he picked the wrong college. Needed to go somewhere he could display his individual talents. Unc is known to have talent that won’t have a chance to put up big numbers.

    This shit is the problem. As soon as he can’t put up big numbers congruent with his “expectations”, you start playing the “sad” music and use his quotes talking about how he couldn’t be himself. Give me a break. Humility is not a bad thing, unless you’re a millennial. Then it’s the worst thing that can happen to you. Woods thought he was gonna be MJ. Well guess what? MJ sat behind other players and learned and honed his fundamentals. He didn’t pout about not being able to “be himself”. In a team sport, it’s imperative that you learn to play FOR the team. This new age of selfish basketball started with Lebron James. Hopefully it dies with him cuz it’s destroying the game
