Probably the closest to IBO of all the bows you tested for 2024. At $699, that's a great pick up for someone wanting to get into the sport but don't want to break the bank. Well done Darton!
I’m new to archery. Walked into local shop asked what best bang for the buck was. They showed me this. I shot it twice and said I’ll take it :) really love it 🙌🏼
My first compound bow, as a kid, was a Darton - aluminum riser, glass limbs, with centric wheels hanging off a bracket. Remember those days kiddies? Man, I'm getting old.
I’m really glad you did a review on this bow. I’ve been looking at this bow as a backup to my Hoyt but have never shot Darton. They have some really nice patterns for this bow as well. Thanks!
I bet if you shot one more arrow you would have got 319 average. 1 ft off.. thats unheard of. Lancasters review showed some awesome speeds. What a great bow! Thanks Josh
Josh, review the Bear Alaskan XT next. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised for a $660 bow in a package. Plus, it's got a 33" axle-to-axle, which is right up your alley. I have one on order after working out the kinks on their Whitetail Maxx. This bow is shooting fantastic!!
@@novaguy9767 If the reflex is anything like the Whitetail Maxx, it should be about 1.5", which is what I just measured. The Whitetail Maxx is rated at 339 fps, but I think it shoots faster than that, even though each draw length setting runs a 1/2" longer than spec.
The scoring system has to be modified to give extra points to a bow that is this good, at this price. If not, the scoring system is not giving enough credit to overall value. Likewise, the scoring system should really penalize the carbon bows at extreme prices since those bows don't offer anything from a shootability standpoint their aluminum brethren don't provide.
I think I might call Darton and see if I can be a dealer.. This is the bow I need for this area. Everyone is struggling financially here in our area, and money is tight. Northerm Ontario, everything is expensive, gas, food you name it.
Man I hope u do. I have a hard time finding them. I bought the spectre 32 and its one of the smoothest quietest bows I've ever shot. Just to big for me for saddle hunting.
So between this and prime Ronan which takes the cake? I’ve learned so much from this guy I would just buy it from him he deserves my business. I can’t wait to start this sport.
Been talk on the AT forums about limb failure issues. First batch with the issues was assembled with white grease and the newer limbs are assembled with red grease. I hope this isn’t a huge common issue because I bought this bow and I like it.
A really nice overall package. Better in every regard than the mach30 this year. I’m not a fan of that brace height, 6.5” on that bow would have been perfect, but that’s a really solid offering from Darton. Well done on all their bows this year. At that price, will be hard to beat. 0 need for integrated gimmicks like pic mounts and rest mounts. Wish it had a back bar mount. 8 out 10 Darton!!!
The variance in the fps could be the whisker biscuit. Since it was close to the fps the manufacturer said it should be. Ive seen other videos showing it hit over the espected fps
Bill peligrino in Colorado springs is killing it with this bow, both target and hunting, considering the shop he owns as well as past world champ that speaks volumes on this bow
Looks like a real sleeping giant... you looked stoked overall at the bow, if they release a 33/34 option in future could be even better. Thanks for your video
While the Darton Sequel 33 is not at this price point, it is much less than the major manufacturer flagships and like the Consequence it is an amazing bow. Darton is bringing the heat to this market.
Another great review. The only thing I wish you would add is a let down on the bow. Like if you don't take the shot. I have a PSE and it will rip your arm off and pull you out of a tree stand. Thanks for double what you do.
Come to Oklahoma and shoot the newest BIG 3d event. Over 100 targets. It's called Shot The 3D Experience! First event of 5 for the year is in tulsa in March!
My only critique of your videos is it would be nice to get a good close up view of the bow itself maybe against the whiteboard. Your lighting is a little dim and far too see the bow well. I know i can go online to set it but even a 3 second up and down view would be nice
Quick question, this bow looks intriguing. Lots of good stuff to like. I currently shoot an Elite Terrain, the bows share some common specs.,on your video on the terrain you talked about the vibration. Would you think that it is more than the Consequence? If so is that because of the longer ATA of the Terrain, or cam system, Terrain being a hybrid as opposed to a dual cam on the Consequence. Thanks. Tim
Do you offer a rth package to add on if one were to buy this bow? If not you should. They local bow shop has a package they sell with a quiver, sight, stabilizer, rest and release. For a newbie like me at would bet great too add onto this bow without me racking my brain over it.
For next year, I think there should be a category (up to 5 points added) for coming in under $1,000. Similar to Backyard, 1 point for every $100 under. Sure you miss out on “features”, but features cost money. The current system hurts budget bows with no way to rival a premium bow. True, a budget bow that was cheap but had a ton of features would rate very highly, but shouldn’t that be the manufacturers goal?
I've owned a Torrex and it was a great bow but just on the specs I think this might be a better value. You get aluminum limb pockets and a roller guide which you dont get with the Torrex.
Have to give a 5 on speed! If the criteria is being within 10 of the advertised speed, this has to be a 5! Too much inconsistency and subjectivity in this scoring system!
That is subjective. Darton designed it to be at these speeds, they wanted a mix of speed and smooth, and their product performs exactly as advertised. Using your methodology of slow for a 70 lb bow - then any bow at 70 lbs that is slower than the fastest bow at 70 lbs would get scored down. @@TangoOne
@@huntsimple9527 speed is not subjective. It's a measurable number. His rating is how fast the bow is in relation to everything else, honesty in the rating is only a consideration in his scoring. 4/5 is a very fair rating for a $700 bow.
HEY MFJJ READ THIS!!!!! I believe I found a flaw in MFJJ’s speed tests against the IBO rating. He does not factor in String accessory weight (silencers/damper, dloop), let off settings etc. I’ve went and reviewed all his reviews and researched the string accessory weights (without knowing what let off settings he’s using) but I can tell you when you start adding things up you start creeping very close if not bang on the factory IBO specs. IBO specs are bare string only, are they not??? I’m saying this in hopes someone can bring attention to this matter so that he factors these variables into his reviews. If not he should disclose he’s not being totally honest or thorough with his speed comparisons and scores against the IBO rating. HEY MFJJ READ THIS!!!
I do like your objectivity but... Hold on...time out... Mathews lift was 13 fos slower than advertised and got a 4/5 for speed...this was spot on IBO and got a 4 also ??? The features score seems low...granted. not alot of features but is $699 for goodness sake.
80% of Bow Hunters dont need anything more than this has to offer...well done Darton
@@gysseacord719yup I think they may still but don’t quote me on that
Curious to what you’d consider the other 20% need that this doesn’t offer ?
Most people don't need more than a Toyota Corolla has to offer, but many people enjoy and take pride in owning high end equipment.

Still have to drop it 5fps for being half inch too long on the draw...
So 312 (instead of 317)
Pretty close still though
My Consequence is getting 280.8 with a 480.2 grain arrow with wishbones on the string. 70# @ 30" draw.
