So grateful for your comment! I really am so inspired by you guys! Thank you sooo much! Hope to see you in concert again someday soon! God bless you🙏🙏🙏
@guitarbyemily that is awesome. I was the exact same way when I was your age where I went back to listening to music from the era my parents grew up in, which was the 50s and 60s as well as music from my generation which is the 70s, 80s, and 90s
Prayers up to Michael Sweet with his health diagnosis with Thyroid cancer and detached eye. Keep the fire burning Michael! We love you! Prayers to you and your family 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻🎸
I melt every time young people appear saying that they like bands that are 4 decades old or more, recognizing their value. I am a father of 2 children and I love watching them grow up with this music. Thank you very much for this beautiful reaction. From Chile, South America. Stripper ruuuuuuuulez!!!
@@guitarbyemily agree with you. I grew up with these bands. Europe, Stryper, Warrant, Def Leppard, Winger, Whitelion, Whitesnake, and then I delved into the hardest metal. I also had my band, I was a guitarist and composer. I would love to go back to that golden era. Continue with that passion for the guitar. Gotta be strong!!! Keep the fire burning!!! @chumyzamorano7453 love the stryper reference! That song rocks! And those bands you named are some of my all time favorites! I think warrant and winger and super underrated!! Rock on🤘🎸
You have Great taste in music Stryper, Dokken, and White Lion 3 of my favorite bands!! The fact that you love that Stryper sings about their faith is so great!
I saw Stryper in 2018 and 2022. I agree with you that they are still one of the best bands from the 80s still touring. I think another thing that puts them towards the top is that they have continued to put out new, really good, records.
I saw Stryper in concert when they came to Austin Texas in 1987, it was Awesome. Being a drummer myself, I pretty much kept starring at Robert’s drum set, the coolest set up. Stryper Rocks! I really can’t pick a favorite song, hard to do.
Clean living and living for Jesus has kept the band strong. Praying Michael experiences full recovery ...so they can continue for years to come. They have gotten even better in the last several years. God bless Stryper ❤🎸🥁

Such an awesome way to celebrate your 18th birthday. Lots of awesome stories and pictures. Thank you for sharing. The Way its simple, but awesome intro of the song could be one of my favorites from any rock song the way the guitar screams back and forth.
Great story, I'm glad you got to see them! I've been a fan of Stryper since the early eighties and have seen them a few times, most recently Michael on one of his solo tours. I also met him and chatted a little. He is so down to earth and genuine. Stryper still rocks and I agree, his voice is still hitting all of those highs!
Thanks for sharing! God bless you! Savior Jesus keep you safe always in these endtimes! Back in 1990 vixen and stryper were to open for ratt in ohio! I had tickets and then the show was canceled!
Nice to see a new generation getting into Stryper. I started listening to the band after To Hell With the Devil came out and saw them on that tour. Got to meet them at the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY and get my Soldiers album signed. Still have it! Saw them again a few years ago with Autograph opening up. Was pleasantly surprised by how good they were! Too many great songs to pick an absolute favorite but Soldiers Under Command, IGWT (from Reborn), When Did I See You Cry. My wife and I danced to Together as One at our wedding as our first dance together.
I would agree Stryper is a great band! There new music is also great, they got better with age! I saw them this past August in Biloxi MS! Great concert!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Ive been a fan of Stryper since the Mid 80s. To Hell With The Devil was my first Album i had from them. Eventually collected them all and still do to this day since they keep on making records. 🎉😀
So amazing to see a young lady that appreciates great musicians like Stryper! Longevity in music isn’t easy! Stryper has outlasted all of their critics!!
Great video Emily! Stryper has been my all time favorite band, ever since I first heard the Soldiers album back in the mid 80's. They keep getting better and better as time goes on. And the nicest guys in the world too. I have seen them four times in total over the years, all in the States, and hope to catch them here on the Canadian prairies one day
I love see a young girl in love with 80s music and see how this bands, artist from 80s love the fan. You dont see this love and respect to fan in this generation.
I've loved this band for so long.... such artists! My son (21) got to see them live this year.... he was blown away. I was really glad he got to experience them, as this sort of live genre is an art form that will soon be no more. Thanks for the review- glad you liked the concert. And you are correct- nobody from that era (or maybe now) puts on the same quality of show that Stryper does.
Great review, Emily. I have a daughter your age (and one a few years younger) that both LOVE Stryper! We've been to several shows together. They call it "Dad Rock" but they legit love it.
Hey awesome to see you talking about Stryper. As a 55-year-old man who is there in the hay day probably abandon didn't get enough love. I was lucky enough to talk to Perry Richardson last summer he was here in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and it was really good to see him I had seen him in a couple decades. And we talked a little bit about music and I'm really looking forward to seeing them at some point.
New here. Love White Lion and Mike and Marcus really should tour with a band along with Stryper. Love Stryper since 1987 when living in Venezuela. Please do some Stryper solos , White Lion and Europe ( Kee Marcello) era .
Excellent stories about the Stryper shows, and the White Lion part, very interesting! Yes Stryper is great, all 4 members, but Michael and Robert are to me the most impressive. I'm a long time drummer and I've been watching Robert closely since the late 80s - love his style and his animated way of playing is among the best. I've also been closely watching Michael's playing for years - he's a solid guitarist who's very underrated. A bit of trivia - he lived on the other end of my town for years, now he lives in the next town over.
Very cool to hear about younger folks going to see bands like Stryper! My brother and I saw them earlier this year, and it was a great show. I'm glad they're still at it, and hoping they continue to record and tour, because they've been on a hot streak the last decade and a half or so. Really since "No More Hell To Pay" came out, they've been doing great work.
Japanese here. It is so great to know that young people like you are into 80s and 90s. I grew up listening to Western music and Stryper has always been one of my favorite bands! Keep up the good work!😊 Oh, and Happy 18th Birthday😊
I grew up with Michael and Robert sweets niece. Both Sweet brothers are originally from my area and home town in Mass. My friends (niece) family own a campground in town and Michael use to drive around in his golf cart lol. I been to many birthday parties with them there during my elementary school days. Recently my sister insured few of his vehicles for when he comes home & visits. His wife Kyle RIP who passed in 09 was friends with my sister as well. You are absolutely right that they are still a great live band.
I know that you made this video some time ago but.... Excellent video, love your shirt and necklace! Yes Stryper has always Rocked and always will.✝️ White Lion is amazing too. Vito is one of my favorite guitarists.
Awesome Emily! I just saw Stryper last month in New Jersey! The opening band was emerald rising! And this was my second Stryper concert in the last 18 years. My first concert by them was 2005 in Philly. Btw Michael Sweet wore the same shirt you have on in your review video 🤘I hope Stryper comes back to the Landis theatre in Vineland New Jersey! Rockin for the ROCK
When they came here in Dallas a few years back, they actually went out back after the show and hung out with some us, signing autographs and taking pics for about 2 hrs…… great bunch of guys!
I used to manage House of Blues on Sunset. Michael Sweet's solo band played in 2001. I met him and the band. He gave me a signed CD of Truth. I mentioned I loved the song "Blue bleeds through". He sang those words to me and told me it was hard to do. He is a great human. So much respect for Stryper! I also saw Stryper at Lamour in 1986. Thanks for the post. It brought back great memories
I loved your video on Stryper. I have been an intense die hard Stryper fan since the 80’s. Best rock show you will ever see. Your review was spot on. How does an 18 year old like yourself get into Stryper? Mom and Dad? Thank you for this video and showing the best band in the world so much love!
You want to know chaos? I saw Stryper back in 1985 when I was a 15 year old freshman in high school in Houston, TX. It was general admission and it was the same thing, every kid for themselves to get where you could see the show. BTW keep up the good work playing your killer guitars. You’ll still be shredding like me in your 50s
I love Stryper. I was probably 11 or 12 when To Hell With the Devil came out and my parents were worried that I was listening to Devil’s music. They are quite the opposite, positive music with heavy guitars and great vocals \m/
Great story ! I agree with you 100% on saying there aren’t any other bands that are still playing like Stryper is today. They still sound amazing. I’m from Canada and was hoping to see them in Las Vegas earlier this year but I had to work unfortunately. I’m hoping maybe next year I can go see them but I definitely see myself travelling to the states for that to happen. It’s funny you mentioned White Lion as I was listening to some of their songs earlier today. Hair nation is my favourite channel to listen to on Sirius XM. In my opinion the 80s and 90s had the best music. You are lucky you were able to see them as I remember when I was a teenager there is no way my parents would let me go to any concerts like that as I was brought up in an extremely legalistic cult like Christian background unfortunately. Stryper was the only good music that I listen to back then. Take care !
LOL love this. Only mentioning Michael when drummer is his brother Robert. Oz Fox the lead guitar just underwent brain surgery for 2nd time in May. He will miss the To Hell With Amps acoustic tour summer 2024 but will be on next record they are doing right now
Stryper is a great band. The first time I saw them was in 87. You said you like Marshall amps you need to try Mesa Boogie a little expensive but great tone. Stryper played with them when they first started out. Keep up the great work.
I agree that Stryper is one of the best 80s bands still touring. I'm not sure about the best but maybe. I can say for sure that another one that may be right up there too is Def leppard. You should cover some of their songs. Especially some of the older songs and Steve Clark's parts. Vivian Campbell plays his parts now and hes pretty good too
@@guitarbyemily in those days Van Halen was known as the “Brown Sound” coined by Eddie. I used to say Stryper had a “Granola Sound” because it was sweet and crunchy 😂
I first saw stryper in 1986 and then again in 1988 I think... both shows were awesome...I just saw them last month and they were as good as they were years ago except for one thing...Michael sweet has admitted to tuning down the guitars to save his voice which is ok by me but if you are expecting him to blast out those notes he did 30 plus years ago you will be disappointed...but all around great show...
Hopefully you have treated yoursef to some Steelheart? Cool fact if you don't know already, the vocals for Mark Wahlberg in the movie ROCK STAR was the singer for Steeheart. (Miljenko Matijevic) It'd be cool to see first reaction of you, or anyone hearing this guy for the first time.😮😂
Yes! She's gone, everybody loves Eileen, never let you go! Classics! Miljenko is one of the best voices of the 80s and his work on that movie it killer!
Song suggestion... Artist : whitesnake / Song : Fool For Your Loving... STEVE VAI divides the solo section with the other guitarrist ( I forgot his name... sorry )... the entire song is good... and it's solo part 😮...
@@guitarbyemily that's cool we went to the same show, my Dad took me, they thought it was crazy the amount of stryper records I brought, I also brought my stryper themed guitar for them to sign.
I met Micheal Sweet at a Christian bookstore concert with a friend of mine. Initially he was arrogant and flat out rude. He also was making suttle jokes about the BIG hair days. I was NOT impressed. As the ONLY musician in the crowd I was pretty much ignored as he seemed to be pandering to little kids and mothers. My friend was fairly upset as he is a big fan. At the end of the show while meeting the band I called Micheal out to his face about his overall attitude. Something I am sure he did not expect from anyone. After a bit of chatting he said " We are on our last few shows here and I am tired and kinda burned out." He did , In his own way apologise. Which I FELT WAS A CLASSY MOVE. He really owed me nothing. And could have simply continued to blow me and my friend off. He wound up signing autographs for us both as well as the rest of the band also did ! I told him I was a bassist. He said " you definately have our look and we always need someone around if one of us cannot perform due to illness etc..." I thanked him but did not feel I was on their level as far as experience. But it was a VERY COOL INVITE TO TRY OUT for the band THAT MY FRIEND at the time never let me forget !! 🙂 I learned that day that WE ARE ALL HUMAN and we all have bad days. Micheal turned a potential bitter situation into a pleasant memory that I will recall for a lifetime ! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼
Great job Emily and I’m so happy to hear that you like what we/I do🙏

Stryper is a great band. The first time I saw them was in 87. You said you like Marshall amps you need to try Mesa Boogie a little expensive but great tone. Stryper played with them when they first started out. Keep up the great work.
Cool, thanks!
I agree that Stryper is one of the best 80s bands still touring. I'm not sure about the best but maybe. I can say for sure that another one that may be right up there too is Def leppard. You should cover some of their songs. Especially some of the older songs and Steve Clark's parts. Vivian Campbell plays his parts now and hes pretty good too
I'm seeing def leppard this summer!!! Definitely going to cover some of their songs ! 😉🎸🤘
Clean Living Emily" No Drinking, Smoking, Or Drugs!
I’m a big fan of stryper and my kids as well. I have a 7 year old boy that goes to sleep listening to Stryper’s songs lol
That is so awesome! I will be covering more stryper/ Michael sweet songs soon so I hope you all can tune in!!!!
White Cross is great also!!! Check out the song "Risist Him"!!
I will do that!☺️
Fast fact: Stryper in the 80’s were big on Mesa Boogie amps. I believe Oz still uses them.
Those were really hot back in the day so I dont doubt it!! Good amps, just not completely my style! 🎸 Im more of a Marshall gal:)
Stryper is awesome! Thanks for watching 🤘🎸
I met Robert sweet.
Saw them live years ago.
That’s awesome 😎
Since you like George Lynch, you should check out Sweet and Lynch. Michael and George together.
I've covered one of their songs! Check it out!
i forgot to mention my sister and i still have our autographed cassettes
So cool 😎
The drummer is Robert Sweet Michaels brother 🥁🙏❤️😎
Been a striper fan since the birth of the band!! What show did you go to I may have been there myself??
I've seen them at paramount arts theater in KY and the BMI event center in versailles OH. Both were on the final battle tour in 2023
Hopefully you have treated yoursef to some Steelheart? Cool fact if you don't know already, the vocals for Mark Wahlberg in the movie ROCK STAR was the singer for Steeheart. (Miljenko Matijevic) It'd be cool to see first reaction of you, or anyone hearing this guy for the first time.😮😂
Yes! She's gone, everybody loves Eileen, never let you go! Classics! Miljenko is one of the best voices of the 80s and his work on that movie it killer!
Song suggestion... Artist : Mr Big / Song : Nothing But Love... it has a quite nice guitar solo...
I'm thinking of doing To Be With You by Mr. Big on acoustic!
@@guitarbyemily nice
Song suggestion... Artist : whitesnake / Song : Fool For Your Loving... STEVE VAI divides the solo section with the other guitarrist ( I forgot his name... sorry )... the entire song is good... and it's solo part 😮...
Love that one! Steve and Adrian Vandenburg are a killer duo!
@@guitarbyemily ADRIAN VANDERBURG... I was struggling to remind his name... thanks... cheets...
Michael admits to losing 25% of his vocal range.
His voice was higher in the eighties.Remains as a very impressive singer
Was this in Ashland KY?
I saw them in Louisville KY at the Mercury Ballroom in May and in July in Ashland KY at the Paramount
Yes Paramount Arts center!!!
@@guitarbyemily that's cool we went to the same show, my Dad took me, they thought it was crazy the amount of stryper records I brought, I also brought my stryper themed guitar for them to sign.
@@TouchMyP1ano I think I saw you with the stryper guitar at the meet and greet! That’s awesome!
@@guitarbyemily it was a great show
The drummer? You Robert Sweet??
What do you mean?
Imagine his vocals if he wasn’t a smoker 🤔
I’m not a smoker.
