Great to see a young person like you getting into guitar & the classic guitar music...One of the best move I ever personally made was deciding to try to learn about music & the instrument when I was about 16...It's been a lifelong journey, looks like you're off to a great start!!!!
Your collection is awesome and it’s great seeing younger people appreciate 80’s guitars. A good portion of my guitar collection is skittles colored shredder guitars. I’ve always been partial to them but in the early 2000’s nobody wanted them. Back then I traded a USA Fender Strat with a deluxe reverb amp for a minty Jem777dsy and rfr rg550 from a Craigslist add lol.

That is one heck of a guitar collection. 👌Congrats. Love that you are into 80s shredders. You are a rare breed. Do your parents play as well? If not, how did you get into guitar like this? Very cool.
@@guitarbyemily Speaking of Charvel, Steve Vai´s "Green Meanie" was also build by their custom shop. This was before he signed with Ibanez. Pretty much all the big name players were playing Charvels in the early 80´s, before other companies like Ibanez, ESP, Kramer etc. came along. The new Charvel San Dimas and So Cal, Pro Mod models are pretty cool, if you´re looking for another classic 80´s superstrat style guitar to add to your collection.
@@guitarbyemily My niece has the San Dimas Pro Mod, "Rocket Red" model. Great guitar, but sadly Charvel doesn´t offer the neon finishes anymore. They do have a new model with a "Miami Blue" finish though, that looks amazing, it´s like the same finish that Porsche uses on the 911.
@@guitarbyemily P.S. The PRS SE having tuning issues, if you use the trem, is a very common issue because of the cheap nut they use and the trem is not like on their USA models. I would recommend putting a TUSQ nut by Graphtech, some type of mini-locking tuners and if that doesn´t help either, maybe change the bridge to a GOTOH 510 or Hipshot Contour. They do make a Floyd Rose SE Custom 24, which also has hotter pickups, that would be more right up your alley. Oh and you can do 80´s shred with a PRS, check out Gary Moore´s "Wild Frontier" and "Over the Hills and Far Away" music videos.

When playing songs that are tuned down, I use my Drop Pedal by DigiTech. I can drop tune a 1/2 step or lower with the click of a button and it's easier than switching out guitars while practicing. Having said that, it's still not an excuse to not get more guitars 😀. I have a PRS Custom 24 that I bought a couple years ago. It was expensive and is a high quality guitar, but like you said, it's not the best for 80s hard rock. I already had a American Standard Fender Strat and a Jackson USA Soloist w/Floyd Rose. I bought the PRS because I wanted something between those two but with 24 frets. If I go somewhere and only take one guitar, I take that one. While not ideal for 80s hard rock, I can play it but also play blues, country, etc. due to its versatility. If I'm just jamming to 80s hard rock, then I use my Jackson.
