I realise now that I managed to under appreciate how many people find biscuits important. New channel - JamesOnBiscuits coming up… 😂Ok don’t forget to COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE if you want to win the Sunbear Pafs - winner announced next Friday!
Long time subscriber! Biscuits are so good - since my gluten sensitivity has worsened, choices are limited - I’d love a Chico Liebniz! Congrats on the subscriber numbers, awesome!
I honestly have no issue with people spending a lot of money, my only issue ever comes with people overspending, not cherishing what they have, always looking for something else, and hoarding. There are hundreds of thousands of pieces of musical gear that just sit in a room, never to be touched, and because of that, the industry churns out so much gear. We're over consuming our planet into a grave. Thank you for your honesty.
Yeah i get you totally - i think that is one of the reasons i stopped buying anything else really. I don’t need it - watches, cars or clothes (i try to make my clothes last!)
I have a problem with gear speculators driving up prices, for the purpose of driving up prices, but I especially have a problem with people who think they know how much gear other people should have.
Agree, if you can afford and not go into difficult financial territory, go for it! Personally, although I like the idea of several guitars and different varieties of amps, I struggle with the mental “baggage” of having something and not playing it daily - I’ve had multiple instruments before but always seem to go through a gear spring clean and sell - lately, I’m happier with just one electric and one acoustic (will it change in the future? Maybe!) - really love the format on this video :)
I disagree if you got the money and you have a hobby, spend some. I love it because a lot of people are employed making boutique hand made items that they put their lives into. This always leads into skills and trades being past down supporting the working class doing something they love for a living. I would never shame anybody for collecting, although it’s nice when the stuff gets used.
It was nice to hear you share & talk about your background. Well done & long may your love of guitars/amps etc continue & your channel grow to the size all your effort deserves.
I have no problem with how people buy so much gear because at the end of the day people spend their hard earned money on what they find as either a hobby or for their job! And even though I can’t afford gear, I don’t hate the people that can! Because I watch RUclips for entertainment and many people who have a lot of gear bring me joy and give aspirations for the future! I have in the past wish I could afford my favourite gear but nowadays I just see it as I have what I have and I enjoy them! I love watching your videos and I live vicariously through you! Thank you for all the enjoyment and inspiration you’ve given me since I found you! As a metal/punk player who got into blues a few years ago I have really found joy in watching your gear choices! So thank you James! And I hope you have a life time of enjoyment from guitar!
Thank you for the channel, your videos, and your humbleness -- the way you answered the question about how you can afford your gear was truly heartfelt, and I greatly appreciated it.
I have experienced people quietly hating on my gear purchases. “He’s got something new every week!” I don’t hoard gear. I buy and sell. I like higher end things because I can afford them. 90% of the time it’s just better. I hope nothing but the best to you and your family!
Everyone blows there money on something. It could be entertainment, food, trips etc... I highly recommend you go out and buy some guitar you don't need and tell them about it. :-)
It doesn’t matter how you come by your equipment. It matters that you chose to share and over the years and many hours have been spent listening to some of the tones you broadcast . Congrats on 12k you deserve much much more for your continuing commitment. Good man Post modern telecaster And choc digestive. Cheers for the opportunity :)
Sunbear pickups, I've never heard them. They sound awesome! I've been following your videos for over a year now and I'm so grateful for them. Thanks for doing what you do!
Fair play to you mate for being transparent, even though there's no reason why you owe anyone an explanation to how you have come to own what you have. We all have a different path in life, some have it better than others but we all have something that makes others envious. You have a great collection here and you know what, it's inspiring to hear the way you talk about gear and get excited. It rubs off on me. Keep it up James
I’ve loved watching the gear journey you’ve been on, I started because you were the only channel documenting the Bloomfield Drive, but now I’ve seen how tastes have changed and it’s been great to watch!
James is cool! I’ve been watching his vids since the OE Magma57 review, and I totally dig his passion for guitars and gear! Keep up the good work, mate!
12k! Thats awesome! I've been hoping to see that number jump significantly. The quality of the content /quality/personality is there, so just a matter of time. Good luck!
Thanks for your candor. Your passion and willingness to share your experiences with gear is an asset to this burgeoning online community. Appreciate you!
Thanks James, have loved the channel from day one and your ability to buy gear and not be influenced is a great help, plus the fact you try so much gear makes me take your points more seriously and love the longer format of your reviews and deep dives. Keep it up
I've been watching you for quite a while at this point, and the reason WHY someone can afford the gear they play is never a question I have ever cared to hear the answer for... it's a passion for all of us, and those who are more fortunate to have "better" gear should be allowed without anyone questioning it!! I have been wanting to try Sunbear PAFs for a long time now, so that'd be a killer thing to win!!!
Or a Doctor/Lawyer like you hear about for owning high end PRS Guitars. I’m a Pipefitter by trade who has been diligent with my money. Buy whatever you want/can and enjoy it.
Cheers to you mate! You don’t owe anybody an explanation, but now that you have, it just makes me respect you even more as an individual. It sounds like you have an interesting life and the drive and ability to follow your passions. What more could anyone want?
Been watching for a while and have really enjoyed how your content differs from others. Love and connected with your thought processes when it comes to playing and gear!
Fair enough, sounds like you worked hard for your gear! You should enjoy it. And we can appreciate getting in depth shootouts for rare stuff we don't often get to hear. Cheers!
I have just stumbled upon your channel, James but even without any prior knowledge or views on you or channel I really enjoyed this Q&A session. Your honesty, transparency and integrity shines through along with your passion and knowledge. I look forward to more content!
Love hearing about your backstory… and your wine experience. Love your comment, “yes, you can’t taste the difference, I can taste the difference.” So true, same applies to guitars or anything you spend a lot of time with.
Really interesting insight into your guitar journey. One of, if not the only channel i can rely on for an honest opinion on high end gear. The rest tend to be dealerships trying to sell you something. Thanks and keep going James.
I started following your channel some days ago and I could not stop watching your videos! It is so nice to follow someone so passionate about gear and with this large collection to be heard. I'm not lucky with giveaways, still i can give it a try, who who knows!
Congrats on your latest milestone! I ‘ve been playing music since 11, gigging at 15, gave lessons at 21 but G.A.S didn’t hit till 28( kinda miss simplicity of a guitar, amp, few pedals) Ended up with 20+ guitars but it was too much! Gifted, traded, sold off and now have shaved down to what I’m truly grateful and content with!! Everyone’s journey different! Glad you reached some of your gear goals!
Thanks James, we dont have regular access to some of the gear you have here in NZ ,so its great to hear your guitars, amps Pedasl, opinions, Inspirational to find gear or tone we can source. Keep it up mate.
Great to hear that you love the clean tones of Fender guitars and amps together - thats what I like too - but also great to get overdrive from pedals in to the front of the amp too. Enjoy the vids thanks.
Thx for sharing your story James! I’m mostly a guitar hobbyist. I’m on my 4th electric guitar build, and exploring the various pick ups p90’s my favorite at the moment. I’m glad you shared how you don’t have a 1 amp favorite, as they change daily! lol thanks for taking us along on your journey!
My favorite guitar is easily my ‘67 telecaster, that was given to me by a stranger on the street during a trip to Nashville. It is my proof that being a good human being is most important above anything else.

Congratulations James. You have certainly brought things to my attention that I may have missed or overlooked since I started following you. Interestingly, I too have largely moved on from pedals to good quality amps and guitars. I still have load of them but use them when playing at low volume and not disturb the house too much. Very interested to see what your going to lead me to think about next.....
The definite clean amp sound with a humbucker les paul is still something that eludes me. Would love some more suggestions and sound clips through a future video. Congrats on the 12k subs milestone
Thanks James, I always enjoy your videos. You have a truly amazing collection of gear. I like watching you play bluesy licks and your playing became noticeably better with your lessons from Lister.

Great giveaway James - thanks for your generosity in giving these great pups away!
Thanks - the generosity is all Sunbear’s 🤘🏼
What a life, so far! Good on you and thanks for sharing.
Congrats on the milestone. Love your humility mate 😊
Thanks!
Hello from Canada! You have a great channel. Keep up the great work!
Thanks James, I always enjoy your videos. You have a truly amazing collection of gear. I like watching you play bluesy licks and your playing became noticeably better with your lessons from Lister.
I have enjoyed your channel for some time. Keep them up!
