I would also add that I have learned never to send more than 100 at a time. It's too risky if you get a tough grader on that many cards. I would send multiple submissions in the same box to psa to save on shipping.
Great point Justin! I will second that one for sure. I definitely wish in hindsight I had split this order up. This grader seemed to have been on the tougher side of the spectrum.
I never send more than 10 at a time for the same reasons. Of course that's unavoidable for certain orders. You pay more for S&H but it's totally worth it to mitigate the grader of death.
Awesome breakdown Austin! Had so much fun learning and sending in my first PSA order, I’ve already sent my second! Hit a 10 on a pacific aurora Brady rookie that has been lying around since my brother pulled it from a box umpteen years ago! It was crazy
Great points on your video! To me there is nothing better than opening that mailbox and ripping that PSA order open to see what those grades are. That’s the moment that all the hard work is worth it.
Your end date on there was my birthday!!!!!!!! I am getting very good at finding cards that will do well when they come back. Some of the cards I do I go to BGS too. BGS 10s are rare but usually more than a PSA 10 if not a new card. For example if I have a 1993 topps Derek Jeter that is so nice I might try to go to Beckett This is soooo rare because that card needs to be crazy good.
Honestly I feel like that is somewhere I could benefit! I breeze through it a little too much sometimes. Especially when I get duplicates of the same card.
Aloha Carlson, love the videos and information you produce. I have a question about tracking inventory. Do you include the shipping cost to the sale price you bought the cards at or do you leave that cost out of your bought price?
@@carlsoncards Awesome. I watched your other video that mentioned that after I wrote this comment. Mahalo for the input. It's a little hard to find cards to grade huh. Would love to know your process on how you find cards online for grading potential, but I know that's asking for too much. Maybe a private call for that one. 😂
It would be great to get some tips/advice on how you list 500 graded cards in 2 days. There is no way I could do that :) I am too slow with the scanning and listing part. Cheers, Julien
It also is misleading for me to say 500 listing cards since, over half were duplicates. Realistically it was like 200-250 individual listings (some of those being a psa 10 AND psa 9, which makes it pretty easy)
@@carlsoncards That's a good call! I have that scanner :) I scan 4 slabs at once but it takes time to resize around each slab, hit scan and then flip them over and do that again. I also get a tiff file that I need to change into a png so i can upload them to eBay. Maybe I need to get better at scanning :D
Unfortunately there’s not a great answer here. Best advice I can give is to just not get too attached to individual sales/listings and keep the long term in mind. I.e. non paying buyers on 10% of sales sucks, but in the long run I just had to come to terms objectively with the fact that it is part of doing business online at this point. I’d just relist and move on for your own sanity 😅
I'm really at the point where I gotta move cards...raw mostly...but some graded. I'm thinking ebay...but how hard is it to start ebay store???....or different idea?? Thanks
@@carlsoncards sweet thank you. I don’t sell a high volume yet but it seems like people who do use one and it seems to save on listing time. Do you list on mobile or desktop?
@@scratchthrift3370 Yes! I waited until it made sense with the amount of volume I was doing. I like how clean it makes the photos look in general as well. Everything is done on desktop (feels a lot more efficient for me anyway)
So regarding the six copies argument, why wouldn't one put a quantity of 6, is also because of the serial numbers. If I'm ordering something I'm going to make sure that that serial number matches the picture and if it doesn't then it's a wrong description.
Yep, to get the $15 grading service you need it. You can send with a PSA dealer (if you search online you can find them), but I would always recommend sending and handling your own cards. I’m not a big fan of others being in control/handling my cards.

I agree. And the first several submissions I would use as a learning experience.
@@justinburton1775 thanks Justin!
Dude I think you are going to get close to mastering this in a few years. You really have the right mindset
Thank you Matthew!! You rock

Thanks Ian! That is so awesome to hear!!! Congrats on that hit. Cool to have the sentimental value to it and have it protected now!
This was great! I really enjoyed your breakdowns of all of this, especially the time stuff. Well done!
Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed it.

Thanks for tuning in! Totally agree
Been quietly following along with the order videos. I'm happy you did this recap + lessons learned, super informative and helpful 👍
Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it and took something from it!
Thanks! As always, appreciate you taking the time and teaching/discussing your experiences and tips. Enjoy and keep it coming! Thanks again.
Thanks Joe! Definitely a different type of video today, but a lot of people had been requesting a breakdown! Thanks for tuning in!
Great video, plus you got a sweet collection there at the end!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Great video! Just found your channel and I'm excited for future videos!
Thanks Reed! Glad to have you here
It was clear right away that you were an engineer. :) Clear, concise breakdown. Easy sub from me.
This might be one of my favorite comments I’ve ever received! Thank you! That means a lot, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Nice breakdown, the grind really can be worth it. Just subscribed
Thank you! Welcome!!
Nice video… long time BGS customer switching more to PSA on the average card. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed and found something useful in it.
How do you do so well buying raw cards that all psa grade at a 9 and 10?

You got it man. Proud of you 🍻
Thanks man, means a lot from you!!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing your analysis.
Thank you Christopher! Glad you enjoyed.
Prepping is really time intensive, sometimes I look over a card 3-3x before putting it in the grading pile
Honestly I feel like that is somewhere I could benefit! I breeze through it a little too much sometimes. Especially when I get duplicates of the same card.
Peyton and Tb12 are 2 of my favs as well
Great video. I appreciate the breakdown.
Thanks Kyle!
Awesome video, learned alot! Just subscribed :)
Glad you enjoyed! Good to have you here :)
Great content
Thank you!
Aloha Carlson, love the videos and information you produce. I have a question about tracking inventory. Do you include the shipping cost to the sale price you bought the cards at or do you leave that cost out of your bought price?
I include all acquisition cost! So if bought for $10+$4 ship + $2 sales tax, your purchase price is $16

any input about return orders or non-payment/re-listings? or other buyer shenanigans?

So your the guy with the Kobe final game hoops card listing hahah I got some Peyton I'd trade.
What scanner do you use for your cards?
Epson V600

You are my boy i collect tom myself i need more of hid autos
Need to also factor in the tax on the sales. Ebay and COMC now have to send you 1099 if annual sales are above $600
Yep! Good catch. I accounted for that on the 4th lesson learned, but should've made that clear in the 1st one as well.
is buying the psa annual membership a must?

help would be appreciated......i have a psa 9 of an auto # to 25......raw of this has sold in the $315 range......idea on asking price? thanks
Have you used 130 point? It saves all the eBay comps for each card. A free research if you haven't tried it.
Around 1.25x of raw price
@@sp123 agree here! Tough to answer without more info, but that is usually a good starting point.
@@sp123 Yikes, not even worth grading
If selling is not fun and time consuming. I would recommend selling most on comc.
Have you had luck with slabs on there? It’s definitely something I’ve considered with the PSA 9’s for instance.
@@carlsoncards i’ve sold mostly raw stuff but for the slabs i have sold it’s been mostly normal. keep in mind everything is listed on ebay too
Don’t you have to pay taxes on all the cards you sell online
Yep that is discussed in the video
