My bus driver actually asked me if I wanted to race her one time because she saw how the other kids treated me, and I was usually her last stop of the day so it was something special to me to make me feel better.

There has always been popular kids who are the top of the pretty much feudal system all schools have. You got popular kids at the top along with the principals and teachers(the monarch), their friends below them(The noblemen and noblewomen/Lords), kids who nobody really bats an eye to but are always on the popular kids side(knights since they always gonna attack whoever the popular kid attacks), the weird kid that gets slightly bullied but still has some priviledge over the one below(peasant), and finally, the quiet kid or any kid that everyone hates or just simply takes their anger out on them since they are the easy target(serfs).

I think it's so sweet that the bus driver waits for him and even goes slower to make sure he wins. Ppl always talk about teachers, but there are so many other adults working other jobs within the system that touch our kids. I definitely remember my bus drivers who made an effort to connect with me.
We start their school day & end it. It’s important to keep it positive & encouraging.
My husband drove bus while we were in college in Minneapolis Minnesota ... he connected with the kids & felt that big brother role for all of them. Then he became a LEO & rescued a girl from a bus who was on an amber alert.

Had a bus driver who always talked to us while he was.driving over his intercom, crack jokes, and call everyone by their last name. Haha being in 1st grade it made me feel like the man 😂 and every Friday he'd hand out candy to everyone when they got off. I still remember this somehow lol

As a bus driver, I can assure you this is the high point of that drivers day, and he definitely made sure to give the kid a fair chance if not let him win. I live for stuff like this.

They definitely wouldn’t allow this in my area.. liability, because the child might run into road (which is just ridiculous because a child this age is NOT going to run into the road🤦♀️), also because then all the kids will want to do it.. @@lizf3325 You can't stop someone from running down the neighborhood lawns. The bus driver doesn't really race him. Once he is dropped of at home to his parents, who are standing right there recording as long as the bus driver drives safely there is nothing they can reprimand him for.
@@ThatGirlJD I completely agree with you! We’ve dealt with situations like this before In our old school district, the micro managing of the kids was completely over the top. This would result in the bus aid reporting it to the school, that it’s a disruption because of all the kids chanting, a distraction and liability to the driver, accompanied with a statement that for students to use the bus the expectation is they WALK off bus and to their home to be able to further participate in the bus service! *Notice I said old School👍

The rush of winning.
It was like I was proving myself. It felt great.
As I grew older, the rush stayed. I was a track star running 440, 660, 880.
I played football as right tackle. I could run!
I joined the Army in 1969.
I carried my spirit to win.
I gave it my all.
My fellow Soldier's cheered me on. I can still hear them all. I am 70 years old now.
I'm listening to the echos now from so long ago. The cheers pushing me along as I rode that energy. I was Needed.
The people called, I simple responded. I had to give them what they came to see, give to them what they wanted of me. It was my duty.

Just two days ago a 12 year old neighbor took his own life. It has been an increasing problem amongst youth the past decade. It is very very sad. This video of these kids supporting this kid togheter, gives me a little hope that it can change. Nobody should ever feel alone/left out. It breaks my heart. Praying for a healing world.

I'll never forget when I was about 6 yrs old, my sister was 13 and this was the mid 80's, when the school bus dropped us off at our home all the kids would sing, "I gotta have Faith, Faith, Faith, I got have Faith". (By George Michael) It was every time and it lasted a couple of years. My sister's name is Faith. I was always so embarrassed, but as I grew up I realized it was an honor, my sis was a MF legend.

My bus dropped me at the bottom of my hill, about a half-mile from home. My neighbor, also a bus driver, was always heading home at the same time, and stopped to drive me to my house. Forever grateful!

I had only one bus driver who was a genuine dillhole and didn’t like us kids, but he gave me so many great stories to tell 😭😂-The others were awesome and I always gave them cards and mini gift baskets with candy. I even learned the alphabet in sign language from one driver in particular. They really looked out for us kids and that’s something that I will carry for the rest of my life. I love this video! I think it depends on what school u r at lol. My middle school was public middle class and the bus drivers hated ther life. They prob weren't the happiest ppl to start but the kids would bully tf out of them lmao. Imagine a grown Haitin man in south fl getting bullied by snot nose 7th graders.
High school was more chill but if u went a hood school u know those bus drivers hate there life even more..
I don't think it's about being in the hood (though being a bus driver in the hood probably is harder) or middle class, or anywhere else in particular. I think it's really just the luck of the draw.
My kid is in Junior High. We live in a small country town. His bus driver in kindergarten and the first half of first grade was an angel. The sweetest, nicest lady you've ever met. She picked him up and dropped him off right at the end of our driveway, which was awesome. Then we moved, and changed school districts (we only moved about 8 miles away, but it was a neighboring district).
We had to, in the middle of the year, no choice. But we didn't want to disrupt our son's schooling. So, we kept him in his old school for the remainder of the term. But we had to drive a mile or so, to meet his new bus. That driver was short tempered and mean, with the Karen haircut and all. Among other things, she decided the corner at which we met her, wasn't safe enough. So, after getting yelled and cussed at by two different homeowners (was a T-intersection, one house on each side, one in front), and told to "get off [their] land", without even letting us speak, we spoke to the third guy, who was kind enough to let us use his side driveway. So we sat in a stranger's driveway (wasn't that close to the house, but still), every morning and afternoon, for the second half of my son's first grade year. We were very respectful, stayed in our car, didn't play loud music or throw trash or linger longer than we should or speed. But it was still very nice of that man to allow us to use his property. I baked him cookies, at the end of the year, lol. But it was still embarrassing to have to ask, and a little uncomfortable to do. And we wouldn't have had to do that, if his bus driver had used the perfectly safe, normal street corner.
When second grade started, my son started at his new school. His stop is at the end of our short street (3 houses between ours and the corner, small lots), visible from our driveway. From then through now, seventh grade, my he's ridden the same bus. And we have had a series of drivers for that bus, almost every one of them a huge asshole. Some more than others. There was one really nice lady. But she didn't last long. Not even a full year. Can't remember why. Other than that, all dicks. I'm talking about drivers who pulled away even when they made eye contact with us when we were coming down the street. Drivers who refused to let him get on with the fifteen other kids waiting at the next stop (perfectly allowable, btw). Drivers who threw his water bottle, with his freaking name on it, in the trash, when he left it on the bus. That same day. Drivers with shitty attitudes, who got nasty with my husband and myself, when we tried to talk to them about anything. Drivers who literally yelled at my son, and other kids. It's been SO incredibly frustrating. And complaining to the school does exactly nothing.
We got that first lady Christmas present and stuff. The rest have gotten nothing. You get what you give.
Fortunately, things are good right now. We just this year, finally, FINALLY, got a good one. My son's current bus driver is a super nice guy (we'll probably get him something for Christmas, lol). I hope he stays, because my son will still be riding that bus for the next five years. But he probably won't, unfortunately. Good or bad, they never seem to last.
I know being a bus driver, and dealing with driving safely while hauling a bunch of often messy, sometimes rowdy, occasionally even obnoxious (but they and the school don't put up with very much of that sort of behavior, thankfully), kids has to be hard. I know you (you in general, not anyone in this thread) have to be a strong authority, or they'll walk all over you. I know you have to keep to your schedule. I get that. But throwing away personalized water bottles the same day they're left? Leaving a kid behind, when you can see them coming, running down the street toward you, only two or three houses away? Just being an all around negative dick? There's no excuse for that kind of assholery. If you hate your job-or kids-that much, find something different, ffs. There's plenty of jobs available right now, believe it or not. You didn't need a degree, to become a bus driver. You're not throwing away a college education, if you quit. And in fact, the CDL you needed, to drive that bus, can get you a lot of better paying jobs. So if you hate it that much, don't project your frustration on to kids and parents by being a jerk. Just freaking quit already.

In elementary school, my friends and I would “race the bus” lol. We would always think we were so cool haha, glad to know this still exists!!
We were the last bus stop. It took 45 minutes to get home. My friends and I decided to race the bus and walk home faster than the bus ride and we would win it everytime we chose to walk home instead of ride.
Good memories i used to punch a kid every end of the day in the school till this day I don't know why i was doing this

♥️Brandon has me laughing very hard over here because he got off the school bus, walked into his front yard's grass, and when he began talking he also knew that he didn't have a lot of time to talk because he has a job to do and he's the guy to do it, so he quickly said what he needed to say, and still kept track n good timing enough to still race the moving school bus. This was all done in a matter of seconds! That's high level brain functionality right there. He was multitasking. He has Awesome energy💫❤️
