Same. “Laying Pipe” was the most brutal episode of any show I’ve ever seen. And for it to happen to such a beloved character that suffered so much loss was just too much to process. Opie lost his wife, his father, he was so torn up.
Bobby’s actor said in an interview that watching each member leave the show was like having a tooth yanked out and Opie leaving was the whole jaw ripping off.
Gets on my nerves sometimes how this show doesn't get the credit it deserves. Show is so much better than most shows on tv right now and most people I know have no idea. But it makes me happy knowing that I also feel like I'm a part of a brotherhood of fans that are so invested into this show. Never been so invested in a show like this before.

well he fuckin dies so not like he was knocked off early on truth is ryan wanted to leave and thats why they killed him off but in the show all that killed him got killed too so....
I played this at my brothers funeral. He passed away from a long battle with addiction. 10/1/11. I listen to this song every day so I don't forget my greatest friend and brother. It reminds to hold tight to wagon and to make sure it never veers of the path. This month though I listen to it alot. It cleanses me of all the tears and heartache I hold in all year long knowing another year will pass without one of the greatest people I ever met, my friend, my brother. RIP Scotty.
Watching Charlie cry makes you realise how close they have grown during the course of the show in real life. And now years later, Ryan and Charlie are still good friends doing so many activities together. Love their friendship.

Luke Hodge Dude that was a great reply. I was speaking with my wife tonight about how I'm just kind of sad like someone I knew just left this world. Obviously it's a show but the reason that some shows, books, movies resonate with us so well is the humanity behind these larger than life characters. This show had its fair share of larger than life situations but these characters were all relatable. Jax tried so hard to break the cycle and bring the club back to what JT wanted though he slowly made choices that drew parallels to clay. And the poison Gemma was to the club, Jax didn't realize his worst enemy was right at his side (Gemma) and within. It was painful to watch him make choices that he could never come back from and the peace and acceptance he came to in the end. When he was just smiling as the truck came on, finally at peace. He did right all the wrongs, but he paid the price so everyone else could be saved...though the Jesus parallels weren't exactly subtle lol. It was just sad watching 7 seasons of him trying to make all the wrongs right and then when Tara died, he was just a broken soul waiting for his time to come...Sorry, had a few beers probably rambling at this point. I just love all your opinions folks, such a crazy show that we all could relate to and be so touched by.

I thought the last couple seasons sucked. The first few seasons were absolutely amazing and then it just died down for me. Towards the end I just couldn't wait for it to be over
Beautiful! You can't be a hard core fan and not be touched by this ritual, a sentimental and thoughtful way to say goodbye to a great character, Opie and a great actor, Ryan. Ryan is a gorgeous man with or without all that hair...I just had to add that...damn!
Opie's death in the short-term sense, as in actually watching him die, didn't move me to cry at all. Honestly I just felt proud of him at that moment, he even went out smilling you know. He stepped in to sacrifice himself for Jax when the latter was ready to die for the club as president. You can't have a better friend than that. What makes me cry is the long-term consequence of that death, how Jax has lost his way and has become more like the man who has perverted his family's legacy. Y'all know who I'm talking about.
King George I actually felt bad for him because of his character loosing so much through out the show. I remember feeling a sense of gladness when Jax told the guard what he planned to do and then delivered on it. I even laughed when Tig shot the guards wife in front of him which forced the guard to relive how Jax felt watching Opie die.
I found this clip again and sobbed...again.😭 I love their friendship. This is by far one of the best tv shows ever made. My husband and I watch all seasons every year and catch things we never noticed before. It's almost like watching it for the first time, every time. We are SOA fans forever!💜
Supposedly, the only reason they killed off Ope was because Ryan's contract ran out, but I'm not sure. I completely lost my head and cried in my boyfriend's lap for like two whole hours when Opie died. Lol. Pretty tragic.
Katie Eads If that was the case (contract ending), I'll say they got lucky. In as much as I loved Ope, his death was pivotal for the storyline. In a Game of Thrones way, you know? Like, when they off a character you loved so much, somehow, masochistically, it's like the story draws you in even more.
Same. I’ve gotten people in my family to watch it. Now my mom tells me she misses the show and wants to watch it again. I ride a bike. I used to want a sports bike when I was a kid. I ride a cruiser though and SOA inspired that.

I was so late to this show & only just watched the final season but this show absolutely blew me away. No other series comes close. I actually had a tear in my eye when it ended but what a ride. I will certainly be watching this over & over again.
I’ve watched the entire series all the way thru 7 times and every time it hits me in the chest just as hard. Opie, Tara, Bobby, and the whole final episode all still get me the way they did the first time
I literally broke my heart when Opie died ,but this just set me off again I love these guys and to see how close their bond is off screen shows why sons of anarchy was and is amazing still!x
I’ve watched many series, many movies, watched actors try and bring characters to life but something about SOA itself along with it’s cast and crew brought a magic to the series that made it so easy to relate or feel attached to certain events and characters in the show.
I have watched countless shocking movies and television moments, but Opie's death was the first time ever that i can remember shrieking aloud and turning away, I couldn't watch. His sweetness and genuine spirit made him very special. His death was heartbreaking and effected me greatly.
TV or movies rarely make me cry. Opie's death ...... hurt like a best friend or close relative had passed. I understand the writers must keep the stories new and fresh ...... but why Opie ?
During my biker days I met a dude who was a lot like Opie.....I was young and he took me under his wing, he didnt like many people but we really clicked. He killed himself cuz he didnt wanna go back to jail.....I was heartbroken.......still miss him.
mannnnnn its 2021 and I am still not over his death. i stopped watching the show for a few weeks after that scene. traumatizing for real :( .... best character
If they ever make a movie about Metallica, Ryan needs to play James. I just finished season 5 and I lost it when Opie died. Great character, and a great great actor.
Not sure why this ceremonial ritual of good bye would be classified as weird. I found it to be a beautiful tribute to a character and a friend. Ryan Hurst needed to move forward from the character and he needed help to do it. His "brothers of a differnt kind" did so for him. His reaction in letting go was genuine as was the others. Boone, as the elder statesman, talks about this moment a great deal. It meant a lot to all. I'm grateful they shared it with the fans.
My girl got me into this show months ago and last night I just finished his funeral episode…. I’ve never seen a movie or show that had me weeping the whole time…. I’ll never be okay
No wonder every 2nd guy on the street is coming out of the closet! It's supposed to be a show about Bikers and it's more like days of our lives. SOA the biggest let down since the last few seasons of Dexter
I'm re-watching the series for the 4th time and everytime, i cry during that episode...I feel like they didn't do Opie justice in a sense that, that's where the episode should have ended. Forever heartbroken 💔
can you tell me which episode it was where he gets killed in jail please? I was trying to find it again but couldn't. It was really powerful when I watched it back in the day.
This is the first time I’ve seen this. You guys are killing me. I miss u all so much. You were part of my life for a long time. I still watch SOA! It’s just one of them shows that will never ever get old to me!!!
There will never be a show like S.O.A and that DEERTICK song hits on all the right emotions for Opies character.Thank you Kurt Sutter for making me and my family apart of the club every tuesday nite
They couldn't pick a better person to play Opie's part. You kick ass ryan. Thank you for giving us an awesome show. As we remember the titans we remember opie as well. RIDE HARD OP......
He was going to need that beard for when he went on to play 'Beta' the Whisperer in The Walking Dead. That was another role that Ryan Hurst absolutely smashed.
Everyone said the ending of A Star Is Born is the saddest scene in tv/movie history, for me it was Opie dying in prison. I would give anything if they would do a reboot & it was Jax just dreaming & they are all still alive.
This series has had an impact in my life since it ran in September of 2008. I just had this video come across my RUclips feed. I was in tears as if I was watching it for the first time. The actors chosen were such amazing, perfect fits for the characters they played, I STILL see them as their characters 13 years later. One of the best series EVER.
*Why the sword? Its a simple ritual of trust* That blade is razor sharp, one wrong move/mistake and he'll be sliced open, in other words it show how much he trusts his friends. :)
There's no fricken way I would have let anyone get that close to my face with a sword. He was a trusting soul. And yes, I just found this video...in 2021. Miss SOA, it was good stuff.
thlin I've never missed one episode of SoA. After all that time, I never made the connection that he had one of the leading characters in "Remember the Titans." A movie I've watched four or five times. After he gets his beard shaved off here, I thought, yup, that's him.
I just watched the series again, not too long ago & Opie's death broke my heart all over again 😭 I knew it was coming, thought I was prepared this time, but it was just as bad as the first time I saw it.
This is the saddest thing Ive ever seen associated with a TV series, especially just with a character leaving. But you see the love, pure brotherhood that honestly only men who have stood shoulder to shoulder thru battle, rather it be bullets or the shots that life takes at us. I have brothers from both.
I started watching this SOA last week and I'm only on season 5. During the funeral scene i cried, then my best friend sent this to me and I cried even more
I'm coming off working four 12 hr. nights, I'm exhausted...I have never watched this show, but I watched Ryan on "Walking Dead" and "Talking Dead". I am in tears right now, I'm really tired. Ryan seems to be one of the sweetest guys in the world, how someone like him can play such a monster, IS AMAZING!! Yeah, I'm really tired.
Joshua Meyer I know right, brings back good memories..... I think he looks better with no beard and short hair like he did in Remember The Titans, or at least no beard, I dont like the beard
What always broke me about this is that Ryan did not want to quit playing the character and he did not want off the show! It was Kurt's idea to kill off Opie for the sake of the story and even though I know it makes sense because of what he wanted to do with Jax's character it was still a heartbreaking moment in the show, the most heartbreaking in my opinion as Opie was my favorite through and through and seeing Ryan here crying because it's not what he wants is even more fucking heart wrenching!! Man this is almost as hard to watch as Opie's death ffs!! How Ryan and Charlie are tearing up is like a kick to the stomach!! Ryan will always go down in history as the best "best friend" character ever on a legendary show like SOA!
First movie I ever seen Ryan Hurst in was Remember the Titans. Shows how talented and passionate of an actor he is going from a character like in Remember the Titans to Opie in SOA.
2021 and I'm still not over Opie's death.
I’m not over the series ending 😭
Is anyone?

Just finished watching the series last night (for the third time). I'll never get over Opie's death. Best show ever.
Same. “Laying Pipe” was the most brutal episode of any show I’ve ever seen. And for it to happen to such a beloved character that suffered so much loss was just too much to process. Opie lost his wife, his father, he was so torn up.
For those who just found SoA, you are never late. You all just joined up with the ride that never stops. Welcome to the Club brothers.
@Chris Just wait till Season 7. It's brutally fantastic.

My husband and I just finished the series last week. We have Hulu and talking about waiting about three or four months and watching the series again.
Just finished SOA during Covid times. I'll never be the same again.

skeeziks05 in the words of Chucky, "I accept that".

Beautiful! You can't be a hard core fan and not be touched by this ritual, a sentimental and thoughtful way to say goodbye to a great character, Opie and a great actor, Ryan. Ryan is a gorgeous man with or without all that hair...I just had to add that...damn!
***** The yummiest, the yummster, the yummsterest....ok, I think we're on the right page..hehehe!
Briana Godsey Stay back sista, me first!
Btw, great comment, hehehe ;D
Opie's death in the short-term sense, as in actually watching him die, didn't move me to cry at all. Honestly I just felt proud of him at that moment, he even went out smilling you know. He stepped in to sacrifice himself for Jax when the latter was ready to die for the club as president. You can't have a better friend than that. What makes me cry is the long-term consequence of that death, how Jax has lost his way and has become more like the man who has perverted his family's legacy. Y'all know who I'm talking about.
:'( Totally agree.
Amen
King George I actually felt bad for him because of his character loosing so much through out the show. I remember feeling a sense of gladness when Jax told the guard what he planned to do and then delivered on it. I even laughed when Tig shot the guards wife in front of him which forced the guard to relive how Jax felt watching Opie die.
It definitely was necessary. Still, it it took it's toll much later on in the show. Like when Jax injects a speedball into Wendy for one.
It was tragic
This show wasn't just a show.. it felt real, felt like family.. touched my heart bigtime.. evergreen SOA💚
I found this clip again and sobbed...again.😭 I love their friendship. This is by far one of the best tv shows ever made. My husband and I watch all seasons every year and catch things we never noticed before. It's almost like watching it for the first time, every time. We are SOA fans forever!💜
After the shave Jax is like: "It looks great man.......I promise".
Lmao
That's funny shit man! Ha!
Rafahil kakashi
His name is not Jax lol
Real name is Charlie Hunnam he played Jax Teller in movie
shubhpreet nagra well since you feel like being a jackass, it isn’t a movie bozo, it was a tv show.
This is true brotherhood inside and outside of a series.
Love Bobby. The pseudo grandfather. Level headed, kept his wits, never lost his cool. Perfect casting for that roll.
Tim so true
Who remembers him being the greasy cop in 2fast 2furious lol
Aw, man. That prison scene... so many feels. Never thought they would off Ope. SoA is awesome.
they wanted to do it season one and I am now so happy they didn't because hes was amzing I really haven't watch it since he died
JimmyValmer85 I'm not sure, it's just what I've heard.
Scarred for life after the prison scene!!!!
I’ve have watched the whole complete series 5 times already and I know I’m gonna watch it again soon
Same. I’ve gotten people in my family to watch it. Now my mom tells me she misses the show and wants to watch it again. I ride a bike. I used to want a sports bike when I was a kid. I ride a cruiser though and SOA inspired that.
Best show ever
awe man.. I never thought i would like a biker show and BaMMM Opie made me love it.. he was my FAV!! RIP Opie you were a warrior..
This is so hard for us fans. Just imagine how hard it is to the actors and crew members.
I found this clip again and sobbed...again. This is by far one of the best tv shows ever made. My husband and I watch all seasons every year and catch things we never noticed before. It's almost like watching it for the first time, every time. We are SOA fans forever!💜
I was so late to this show & only just watched the final season but this show absolutely blew me away. No other series comes close. I actually had a tear in my eye when it ended but what a ride. I will certainly be watching this over & over again.
Goddamn... 2021 and this still hurts. Worst "character death" I've seen.
Naah Hank on breaking bad has to take it.
No Johns dead in Peaky Blinders
The red wedding ?
ragnar
His was tough to watch...but Glenn's on The Walking Dead was just brutal
I've lost it after Charlie. His portrayal of Jax's character was the rawest and most natural thing I've seen on TV.
I'm never gonna stop calling him Opie
Lol right. That's his name for life.
hell yeah... OPIE LIVES ESE
I know Im late but I still call him opie
Mister C he'll always be Opie to us
Forever Opie
@@koestenbraumstar1843 back in your biker days ? 🤣🤣🤣 real bikers don't stop riding brah
@@joshuaa1605 im crippled up you nasty bastard......but ill let you apologize!
So at first I'm like LOL they're fake crying is so jokes ... then I realized they were actually crying. I love these men.
I know omfg i thought this was supposed to be dramatic effect why would they do this to us?!!
i have watched the series at least 6 or 7 times and i still ugly cry when opie dies. he was taken from us way too soon😭
If they ever make a movie about Metallica, Ryan needs to play James. I just finished season 5 and I lost it when Opie died. Great character, and a great great actor.
He did look familiar, good call.
Emily Loper Sorry it took a while to reply, your comment was excellent. It's all perception right.
If they ever make a movie about red riding hood, or the wolf among us, Ryan should totally play the Woodsman.
Manu Rodriguez Agree! ;)
Jose, grow the fuck up bro.
Opie was by far my favorite character on SOA. Tremendous show. He also carried Bates Motel.
Carried Season 10 of Walking Dead as ‘Beta’ too.
@@hectickest I stopped watching TWD years ago. Might have to pick it back up.
Don't know why but I'm crying. This is so sad and he's not even in character
Yea i just balled my eyes out.
New watcher and Opie was/is my favorite.
It sure isn't.
When Charlie started crying then Ryan yea I broke down. Tears just kept coming down. Definitely one of my favorite characters. *****
me too.... friendship it's everything
Seriously the feels in this … ugh don't like seeing our boys so sad
No wonder every 2nd guy on the street is coming out of the closet! It's supposed to be a show about Bikers and it's more like days of our lives. SOA the biggest let down since the last few seasons of Dexter
On my 8th or 9th rewatch of SOA and this video came to mind. And I’m crying again. I love these people.
One of the best series i ever saw really touched me
Oh ...can't watch this without crying ...
This messed up my day real quick...
oh shit man, i don't cry like that since Braveheart...
"Every good thing has an end"
Thanks Sons for all the emotions and memories you have deeply engraved in our hearts. 💔
In 2021, I still say this is the best show that will Ever be made!
2020, been a while since Opie died. I've rewatched this show lots of times, everytime I watch after Opie died I cry. This almost made me cry too
I'm re-watching the series for the 4th time and everytime, i cry during that episode...I feel like they didn't do Opie justice in a sense that, that's where the episode should have ended. Forever heartbroken 💔
can you tell me which episode it was where he gets killed in jail please? I was trying to find it again but couldn't. It was really powerful when I watched it back in the day.
@@TheAndrewmcnelis season 5, episode 3 "laying pipe", episode 4 that's when his wake is

I've cried as a grown man watching this every time but yeah Jst makes me realise I am Human n Yes this, was n will be my all time favorite show
Ill raise a toast to that brother :)
This is the first time I’ve seen this. You guys are killing me. I miss u all so much. You were part of my life for a long time. I still watch SOA! It’s just one of them shows that will never ever get old to me!!!
the best performer of SoA and the strongest storyline
This literally looks like a scene from SOA, same emotions the characters would have for eachother
"I'll see you later bro"
He was going to need that beard for when he went on to play 'Beta' the Whisperer in The Walking Dead.
That was another role that Ryan Hurst absolutely smashed.
Definitely agree. He did an amazing job 👏 he's an amazing actor overall for sure.
I didn't realise he was in WD! It's great to know I've still got more to learn 🙃
He was beta? God damn he nailed that role
Goodbye, Opie. We will always love you and the things u did for the clube.
When he shaved I was like "heh... He looks like Gerry from Remember the Titans.."
Then it comes to me..... IT IS HIM WTF
I know. Mind Blown
Oh hell I didn't even know lol
holy shit dude i never realized
Damn y'all were late lol
O. M. G.
i'm still not over this show. it was really special. i'm missin so much 🖤
Everyone said the ending of A Star Is Born is the saddest scene in tv/movie history, for me it was Opie dying in prison.
I would give anything if they would do a reboot & it was Jax just dreaming & they are all still alive.
Oh, c'mon! A star is born...
A lot of these people haven't seen Private Ryan or American Beauty, and surely haven't seen death of Opie in Sons.
That would be dumb😄
Everyone? C'mon man.
The Green Mile.
Star is Born isn't even in the same league, whoever said that obviously hasn't seen SOA, or ANY good cinema or TV for that matter.
People really say A Star is born's ending is the saddest of all time? 😂
Awwww when Charlie to started to cry...
Its a simple ritual of trust*
That blade is razor sharp, one wrong move/mistake and he'll
be sliced open, in other words it show how much he trusts his friends. :)
was thinking the same thing, thanks for re-affirming my thoughts.
There's no fricken way I would have let anyone get that close to my face with a sword. He was a trusting soul. And yes, I just found this video...in 2021. Miss SOA, it was good stuff.
holy shit, he looks like a completely different person without the beard
Watch the movie Remember the Titans
thlin I've never missed one episode of SoA. After all that time, I never made the connection that he had one of the leading characters in "Remember the Titans." A movie I've watched four or five times. After he gets his beard shaved off here, I thought, yup, that's him.
He went from badass biker to a hippie
Danechamp he like how he did in saving private Ryan again. (The deaf guy).
back to badass Beta WD
I cried like a little bitch when Opie died, damn this serie sends me on that crying path
Same I can't watch Opie die a still look away
I just watched the series again, not too long ago & Opie's death broke my heart all over again 😭 I knew it was coming, thought I was prepared this time, but it was just as bad as the first time I saw it.
I'm still crying like a little bitch. Opie went out in brutal fashion.
When sack got killed off that was when I cried I saw clays death brewing for seasons
@@josephdixon7697 And then he goes and dies for real from something crazy like he did
This is the saddest thing Ive ever seen associated with a TV series, especially just with a character leaving. But you see the love, pure brotherhood that honestly only men who have stood shoulder to shoulder thru battle, rather it be bullets or the shots that life takes at us. I have brothers from both.
I miss Opie. He was the best character of SOA.
I started watching this SOA last week and I'm only on season 5. During the funeral scene i cried, then my best friend sent this to me and I cried even more
I love the friendship and camaraderie that they have!! It was never a job to any of them!! (WHISPERS: 'It was real!')
What to say? Opie "was real". They were with him every day during 5 years. They had bonds. Its truly "goodbye, dear friend".
There's the titan I remember.
+That One Guy from the Old Spice Commercial Who's Always Moving From Scene to Scene YESSSS!!!!
it's crazy how much he looks like Gary Berteer after the beard is shaved off
Joshua Meyer I know right, brings back good memories..... I think he looks better with no beard and short hair like he did in Remember The Titans, or at least no beard, I dont like the beard
Sophia Gallucci i like him with the beard and homeless looking, like in bates motel
Shows how invested they were into this show emotionally. Thank you!
I really wish someone would post this without music. I'd love to hear all the dialogue from the cast.
Actually think its better this way. Their words are for them Only in that moment.
the music is very cringe, id honestly rather hear WAP by cardi b than this shit folk music
@@phylazen5649 Seriously? You'd rather hear WAP?..... There's no way you can honestly think that and not be a crackhead. LoL
Exactly! But who is the 3rd guy with Jaxx and Bobby?
@@tonyasheppard2237 right? And where the hell is Chibs?
Clay and Tig don't belong there, but jesus, Chibs (Tommy Flannagan) certainly does!
Opie was my favorite.
+Belinda Rivera Same
100%. Opie was the best such a shame they killed him off.
+Belinda Rivera yeah me too
I stopped watching it after they killed him
Then you missed some of the best shows in the series.
was a sad day indeed..
wait...nah
By far the best show ive ever watched. Sad from start to finish but beautiful at the same time. A credit to all involved ❤
Looks much better with the bear in my opinion!
I meant beard but that would be awesome if he had a bear
***** with the beard he looks like a man XD
+Night Of Reckoning A beard, a bear and a beer. What a man.
a bear with a beard drinking a beer after killing and eating a deer is the most dear thing a beast can be
What always broke me about this is that Ryan did not want to quit playing the character and he did not want off the show!
Just watched the whole show and binged and ill never be the same. Absolutely loved them all
First movie I ever seen Ryan Hurst in was Remember the Titans. Shows how talented and passionate of an actor he is going from a character like in Remember the Titans to Opie in SOA.
He was also in We Were Soldiers Once And Young
@@cryhavoc38 I'm gonna check those out
