I've been reading Peter Guralnick's biography of Sam Phillips, which relates the story that Charlie Rich really wrote this song with Jerry Lee in mind (thinking he'd put a more rollicking spin on it than Rich's demo), and practically had to have his arm twisted by Phillips to record the first release himself. Really neat to see Jerry Lee's interp is pretty much what Rich expected all along.

And everytime I play the piano myself after listening to his music I have so much fun but after a little while I find myself beeing not even good enough to impress my parents anymore. Unless my eyes deceive me, that's Tarp Tarrant on drums on the left side if you're facing Jerry Lee.Dunno who the other drummer is but it don't matter. Tarp was jerry's road and sometime studio drummer throughout the 60's and early 70's. I got to meet him in Cincinnati when he was backing up Don Nix. Tarp is a real character and one of the greatest rock and roll drummers of any time. Thanks for posting this.
