Star Wars: The Acolyte Interview with Leslye Hedland

It was a childhood dream come true for Leslye Hedland (Russian Doll) to create and bring to life her version of a Star Wars world. In this week’s episode of ReelTalk, Leslye tells Ben how she tapped into that long held fandom to write, direct and produce the new Disney Plus series, The Acolyte.
The 8-part series, which launched June 4, is a story about two sisters who are two sides of the same coin, the yin and yang, the light side and the dark side of the Force. Set 100 years before the Skywalker era, it stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Games) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) as a Jedi Master. In her interview with Ben, Leslye says she was excited to put her own spin on the franchise, challenge some of the beliefs of the Jedi legend and how she felt fortunate to have such a talented cast to work with.
