Last time I used my lock was when I was in middle school, now +10 years later I was able to open it thanks to you 😭💕 it was so frustating finding the anomality, but eventyally did it and im over the moon!!! Thank you again 💜💜
Watched a few of these videos to figure out my combo for a lock I've had from 10 years ago, and long since forgotten. This one helped me get it open. Kudos to you, and thank you!
This is the best method by far. I was able to recover the combination for two old Master Locks that I had laying around. It was surprising and very satisfying when the locks popped open for the first time in 30 years. Thanks for the great, easy to follow tutorial.
In the second number hold the lock up and see where it locks up. It should only go in between around 2 numbers. There are 3 lock ups in every set 10 numbers. 0-10 has 3 10-20 has 3 and so on. You just keep going until you find an outlier. Like instead of being 10-11 its 10.5-11.5 Or 11-12.
Nox Nexus what is the difference between finding first number and third number with respect to pulling upward tension on the lock and getting the dial to stop? In other words, the first tine it stops on the 34 - the only place it stops. But then she find a dozen other places it will stop...
UNBELIEVABLE! IT WORKED!! I've seen a bunch of these videos and had no idea what I was feeling as far as the lock hanging up because it always seemed like it hung up on every other number around the dial. I just unlocked this lock that was sitting on my desk for 2 years within 6 minutes after viewing it all the way thru once. Even though I had to go back in this video a few times I quickly was able to unlock it. First number was tricky. I basically took the first number that had resistance and then added the ten because there were a group of dragging numbers after it first hit. Great video. I am still beside myself here!
Kudos!!! I already had the first number from watching other videos, but I cracked mine on the very first try using your awesome, awesome technique and explanation. Unbelievable! Thank you.
Incredible!!! It works for cheap Masterlocks! One thing to look out for: The anomaly I had was barely one-quarter of a length!!!! I passed over it the first time I went through and honestly wasn't even sure if i was right when doing the trial and error for the second number so you can imagine how surprised I was when it opened! Thanks for your help
@@aarongonzalez4458 Swear on my life. I did see someone else saying that newer masterlocks have the first number 5 before the hard lock though not 5 after but other than that yeah.

This did the trick. My wife was going thru her old boxes and found a lock. She about to throw it away. I told her I’ll will try and find a video on RUclips to open it. Literally ten minutes after watching this video it opened up. Thank you so much.
Wow! I found my old lock from work bc I need one for the locker at my new job. After the first step I made an executive decision to throw this sht away!!! 😳Going to Walmart...... Money well spent🙌🏾
I have been trying to get mine to work for hours and watched so many videos and nothing worked for me. This tutorial was the only one that worked for me. Thank you
OMG THIS REALLY HELPED ME OUT !!! plus I kind of remembered my first number and last one but wasnt quite sure if my memory was failing me and when I did what you did it totally worked !!! I got my second combination right out and unlocked the damn thing !!! I'm so proud of myself, I never thought this was gonna work :) !!!
Thank you. This worked very well for me. I've had a lock for over 10 years that I find and lose all the time; its stuck on the strap of a bag. Just found it again, and this video helped me figure it out. Very clear explanation. Great job!
I just want to thank you so much. My wife was spending hours trying to get an old lock open to use for school. Even googled how to do it. I loaded up youtube searched and this was the first video to pop up. Followed your instructions and loand behold it worked.
OMG!!! After watching several different RUclips videos that didn't work and trying for 4 days to crack my daughter's old gym lock from her high school days, YOUR VIDEO was the only one that helped me end my misery and open the lock!!! What an immense sense of pride, joy, surprise, thrill, and of course, gratitude to you! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!!!
It worked. I've watched a dozen videos and did everything they said but my lock is 30 years old and it wasn't responding the way of newer locks. This method worked. Thank you.
I could only vaguely remember my combination and I just kept getting it wrong. Just by watching the first part of your video and following your steps for determining the first number of the combination, I realized I had had my numbers reversed and voila! I was able to open my lock! Thank you so much for this video, you really helped me out.
Your approach was by far the best, thank you! The step of comparing the 'play' in the lock with the four numbers 10 apart was the most helpful part and a piece others missed the mark on. Unfortunately, even after discerning the full combination I couldn't reverse engineer the first digit, but knowing that last digit helped me number-crunch and find the other two. Thanks again!
Awesome! I was getting really frustrated until I realized I was turning the dial the wrong way to find the resistant number. After I fixed that it worked like a charm! thank you Samy.
I'd tried a handful of these tutorials, but this one demonstrated that you don't have to reset the lock after every attempt so it's super quick and easy to find the second number by trial and error. I was able to get my combo back for a lock I hadn't used for a couple of years in a matter of minutes.
I found my old lock i used to use but hopelessly forgot the combination. After following your video I am happy to say I now have access to my old lock again. Ty!
You have to really pay attention when you're trying to dial in the third number by going around the dial in the increments of 10. I had to try it five or six times because the "anomaly" was only off by a fraction. But it worked! Thanks!
Wish this could be top comment. I kept going around trying to find the anomaly a couple times, until I eventually found 34.4-35.3 went just a fraction higher than the others in the set (~4.1-5). It’s such a tiny difference but you really do have to be paying close attention
I had an old lock from high school, after 10 or 15 other videos and countless hours of trying to crack this lock. I finally did it with your video! Thanks!

Alice, I tried several other videos without success. I tried yours and after several attempts, it worked! The trick for me was looking more closely for the anomaly. Thank you for your help! Mark
Thanks so much for really breaking this down and explaining clearly and concisely. I was able to open up my old gym lock so I can use it at a new gym. I got frustrated and tried a few other videos but kept coming back to yours. It took some patience but your method is the one that worked
I knew no numbers as it was not even my original lock. This worked!!! Thanks so much!!! My youngest daughter lost the combination of my oldest daughter's high school locker. She was not at all happy with her!!
I've tried for weeks sifting through videos, and this is the first one to actually work, the best part being that it opened on my first try for the second number instead of having to try each one. Saved me a set of locks!
OMG this worked!! It took several tries and some serious concentration, but I got my son's locker padlock from a few years ago open!! Saved us from buying another one. Thank you soo much!
What a magical feeling when the lock opened! Some tips I found - for finding the last number, where you add 10 to each and try to find the anomaly, I think the anomaly should only be compared within that set of 4 numbers (0, 10, 20, 30). So there might be a tolerance of only 1 number when you try to turn the knob in the set of 0-10-20-30. But in the set of 7-17-27-37, for example, the tolerance might be nearly 2 numbers. So the anomaly might be a tolerance of 2 numbers on 0, since the rest of that set of 0-10-20-30 only has a tolerance of 1 click. Even though it's normal for 7-17-27-37 to have an almost 2-number tolerance for this example. So look for the odd one out within the set of 4 numbers. That was my perception, anyway. Also, be careful that the number you start on isn't your anomaly itself - this can throw you for a loop if you aren't expecting it!
Actually, guessing the second number is usually easy. You can feel a small click when you hit the second number. There are 3 rings inside the lock that match up and start rotating together, when you hit the second number you can hear and feel both rings sticking together.
I've tried numerous other video tutorials and this is the only tutorial that worked for me. One thing nice is that you don't need math for this but to just check for anomalies in the pattern. Good job on the clear step by step instructions!
Finally getting back to the gym since COVID began and I realized I couldn’t remember my lock combo. This video gave me the first number and I remembered the rest. Thank you!
Not really, just watched a video of a guy taking one apart and reverse engineering it... it seems, according to my math to follow a simple pattern, 1st number, then spin 25 (plus or minus 2) then subtract 5 (plus or minus 2). These locks are really simple in design.
IT WORKED!!!, Took me two tries to get the first number, got the third number going thru your process once, and the second number is 6, so only three tries. Amazing. Thank You.😀
The first part was actually the hardest for me. I've used this method before with great success and I'm not entirely sure why this step was so hard, but I imagine that maybe the lock is just old (work locker lock). Anyway, once I got the first number, I got the rest and opened the lock on the first try. Awesome instructions.

Thanks! This worked for me. I had forgotten my gym's padlock combination due to the recent 2 1/2 month Covid closing. It took me about 15 minutes to get it done. It took me a little trial and error to get the feel of the lock. Yeah, I could have purchased a new lock for about $6 but this was more fun. Exactly like solving a puzzle. 😊 lol
Thank you! I’ve been at this for days with the other videos trying to get this dang thing unlocked. Finding the third number with this method was the trick.
Super! The best way that I found the lost code for my Mast lock was without math work. Thank you! After following and searching so many videos, finally, this way works! Thank you!
Just watched 10 of these videos before yours and jump scared myself when I got it. Should've prioritized the one with 3 million views. Thanks for the help!
Great method! One suggestion if you're struggling. Using the method I determined (repeatably) my numbers to be 18-X-2, but to no avail. Based on a fragment of memory I tried numbers corresponding to one higher, 19-X-3, and found the combo.
This is the technique I would use as well after watching all the various videos. The only problem I see here is everyone is demonstrating NEW locks. So, there appears to be a manufacturing consistent flaw. I tried the method on older locks and finding the first number is not like shown in these videos. There's a lot more catch points (about four). I find spinning the wheel quickly shows some small amount displacement of the shackle on the older locks, but the sensation is so slight to call it consistent. Maybe someone else can chime in on this.
I'm trying to open a lock that my dad got in the 1990s and so far nothing has worked. The shackle has to be pulled up about a centimeter to get any sort of catch and at that point it catches on everything and there's no discernible place that it sticks.
Master Lock has at least three generations of this style lock and each time a little harder to crack open. The oldest locks have the Master Lock logo three times on the back. The newest have colored casings.
Thank you!! I have watched at least 8 different videos all saying the same thing and failing every time. Then I found yours and the first try I cracked it. I was in shock but now I’m going thru my box of locks cracking them one after the other. Thanks so much.
omg thank you so much, yours is the only video that worked for me! I couldn't do the feel method!!! But this was so helpful and actually ended up working!! I really appreciate you even 9 years later XD thank you for your magnificent dash of data, it's still really potent even 9 years later!
Great instructions, I was doubting this the whole way through and then they popped open, It was touch to know am I on the right number, but with your guidance i got it in 5 minutes.
This was great! It took me a while to see the anomaly in my number sets, but thanks to your video I was able to unlock my combo lock which I haven't been able to open in like 6 years!
I was thinking I was the only idiot who couldn't figure it out. But I stuck with it and finally got it! My newer lock, I had to subtract 5 for the first # instead of adding 5. Thank you!
I have wanted to be able to do this since I was a little kid. Today, I did. I am over the moon. Thank you! At last, I can stop suffering and write that symphony.
Actually, the numbering system on these locks follows a pattern. The first and third will always be a multiple of 4 off from each other (39-7 = 32/8 = 4). The second number will be odd if the other two are odd, even if the other two are even. AND, it will NOT be off by a factor of 4, but by a factor of 2. So if your combination is 7-X-39, the X must be either 1 or 5 or 9 or 13 or 17 or 21 or 25 or 29 or 33 or 37. You only have 10 to try, not 20.
I watched 5 videos and guess what, THIS IS THE ONE THAT WORKED! None of the other videos could give me the correct 3rd number, which was the key :) Thanks!

Thank you! I'm a junior in college and had my old lock from middle school stuck shut since 9th grade, this helped me rediscover the combo!
I just cracked my bike lock! the first and last I knew where going to be the same numbers I just didn't know what it was lol. yay
Thanks, your method of finding #3 is the best I've used so far. I got my old PE locks from elementary school open ;)
This absolutely works! I was skeptical when I heard the 2nd number was a guessing game. Got all the way to 19 and boom! It worked. Great instructional video.
mine went all the way to 37 took forever...
Thank you it worked! I looked at several videos and couldn't get it. Glad I found your easy to understand video! Our child forgot his school Master lock numbers soon to be two years! Wait til he and my husband come home and see I cracked the code 😅
Thx for this. I accidentally forgot my locker combo because I was on a leave from school. Only took me a few minutes to get the combo again 👍🏻
I forgot my combination. I can't remember it. I'm going to try this and see if I can get my lock open.
Great Video, I search through multiple other videos to crack my locks, and this was easiest to understand and worked! I cracked 3 master locks with this video. I was about throw away my locks and figured to give this a shot. I amazed. Thank you for posting!
Watched a number of videos, yours is the only method that worked. Thanks!
yesssssss
Pick 3 dial combination lock
use a cut soda can .. its easier and faster
I opened an old lock thanks to this video. The third number trick is subtle but effective--thank you!
I thought you said easy
It's as easy as cracking a lock can be. If it was too easy then there would be no point in having one.

unlike...a lock that can be opened in 20 minutes with no tools...
You think counting numbers is hard
@Bantham Nobilis God I really hope that was a joke, bc it was hilarious.
Thanks! This worked well for my old work master lock I was planning to reuse. Saved me a visit to the hardware store.
Thank you so much! I was able to get the first number and I remembered the rest! I was so surprised this actually worked lol
It worked after a few tries. Thank you. The 2nd step took awhile to recognize but after you get the 3rd number, the rest was easy.
Watched a few videos.. this was the easiest.. Thanks!
Eh
Alice ...A multitude of thanks to you...It worked... WOWz... it really did.
I tried every video on YT and it was
Fail after Fail...I saw yours applied your method and got the anomoly on the first set of numbers and it was the 3 rd number that was different.
Thanks so much Alice .
The time it would take for me to do all of this I'd already have been handcuffed in the back of a police car. 😂
Super! The best way that I found the lost code for my Mast lock was without math work. Thank you! After following and searching so many videos, finally, this way works! Thank you!
Easily the best video on the subject. Super easy and worked first time! Thanks so much!
Thank you!!! So much easier than any other method I've tried thus far! And it worked!
Thank you so much!!! I've been trying to get my old lock off of my backpack for so long and it's finally off!
I finally popped the lock but was so shocked and excited I forgot what number combo ultimately worked. Trying to do it again! 😂
Haaaiiilllooo outta called a bolt cutter...
Master Lock has at least three generations of this style lock and each time a little harder to crack open. The oldest locks have the Master Lock logo three times on the back. The newest have colored casings.
Had same issue. Put a little WD-40 on it, made a huge difference and then was able to crack the code!
I found this locked hampton combo lock and I've tried all day but nothing is getting it opened. I'm getting frusted to be honest
Thank you!! I have watched at least 8 different videos all saying the same thing and failing every time. Then I found yours and the first try I cracked it. I was in shock but now I’m going thru my box of locks cracking them one after the other. Thanks so much.
I have had 2 locks for more than 50 years...fortunately I still remember the combinations!
:)
omg thank you so much, yours is the only video that worked for me! I couldn't do the feel method!!! But this was so helpful and actually ended up working!! I really appreciate you even 9 years later XD thank you for your magnificent dash of data, it's still really potent even 9 years later!
Am I the only one this didnt really work for?
No me to😭😭
*too
Worked for me dawg
Nah I still can't get it
agreed
Oh my gosh, I was able to unlock my high school padlock. It took a little bit of fiddling, but I got it! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Step 1. Find a lock
Step 2. Get an angle grinder
Step 3. Enjoy a beer and your newly stolen merchandise
BRUH
Cant enjoy any beers after causing all that noise with an angle grinder... pair of bolt cutter should do the trick...
Thank you!
"I'm gonna show you the clicking sound multiple times but never stop talking."
Thanks. I know this is an old video, but it helped with my lock in a few minutes when other techniques failed.
Worked!!! Watch about 10 different vids!
How i Don’t understand
You only have 10 to try, not 20.
so all of the codes have to be all odd or all even?
I watched 5 videos and guess what, THIS IS THE ONE THAT WORKED! None of the other videos could give me the correct 3rd number, which was the key :) Thanks!
OMG- this worked on the first try. Amazing! I am shocked.
I have a combo masterlock that belonged to my mother before she passed away in 1994, I unlocked it once as child by randomly twisting the dial, and now a second time by watching this video! Hahaha!!! So crazy! My dad is gonna trip out!!!! Sharpton for president yell, I'm outtie!!!
OMG THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH THANK YOU!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
Dang actually worked. Life saver. Thank you!
I don't own a lock and I'm watching this
lol you just have to steal something
lol me too, only because why not... knowledge is power.
@@SkyTheGuy8 Knowledge is key.
😂
Im betting that 97% of the ppl who watch this video don't own a Master combo lock... but know somebody who DOES!!!
I had this lock from middle school in my room for years and I have been wanting to open it but didn't wanna go through all the work and I finally just decided to look it up and didn't expect it to work but it did thank you so much!!
