    From N to D or D to N we don't have to press the button. The button at side is for engaging to R or from P to Gears.

  • @rantalaatwork
    @rantalaatwork Год назад +31

    The difference between N and P is that the P mode mechanically blocks the gearbox from rotating meaning it will help keep the car stationary when the brake is released. If you park on an incline put the car into N and pull the hand brake then ease off the brake untill you are sure you rest on the hand brake, then put it into P and exit the vehicle. This way you will not risk damaging the P shaft if the weight of the car slams into it. Also it helps you testing wether or not your handbrake is actually working properly.
    You dont need to hold unlock once out of P. Thats only for leaving P mode.
    The transmission is made for standing at a red light while in D, dont worry about it. Also your car doesnt have emotions, no need to let it "relax" by putting it into P for that reason.
    I´m gona go out on a limb here and guess you really dont know what you are talking about.

      Thanks for the comment. To be clear, I’m not here to make people change their habits. However, I want to note one fact… I have a degree in Automotive Engineering and have drilled down in my studies with gearbox and breaking system. If you want to save your transmission or paying a visit to BMW very soon, I would suggest you to not keep your vehicle on drive unnecessarily, specially if your parked waiting for someone. This adds extra load on your transmission prepares for take off when your indeed will be stationary for long period. With that said, it’s your vehicle and your rules so feel free and do what works best with you.

    Little known feature on these ZF 8 speeds, if you have it in sports mode to the left and either turn off the car or put it in park an electric motor will move the gear selector back to the right and put the car in park. Pretty pimp ngl

    This is perfect video for those who have brains to understand things and not for who comments "D is designed to be used on redights"
    When u use manual.transmission what is the life of.gear box? 15yrs? right?
    automatic.transmission..people.tend to face a breakdown in faster then..manual ones..reason is..
    u keep.on engaging.the clutch plate and pressure plate on halted signals..while.keeping it.on D mode.
    but let people who dont understand things..pay to service centre...as they..actually.cannot.understand.things..and they rip off.the gear box..actually..seeing their comfort.mode and then complain..about.mechniasms.
    bmw is earning good..having such customers..

    Relaxing the vehicle? Sorry but this is nonsense. It is perfectly safe to leave the transmission in D when stopped at traffic lights for example.

    • @APTechs
      @APTechs  Год назад +5

      Your absolutely correct to keep vehicle on D while at traffic. I am referring to when vehicle is parked i.e idle running or waiting for someone. Sorry I should have elaborated.

      Why would they have a button to auto handbrake when you stop still in drive

    • @imamyusofi5268
      @imamyusofi5268 4 месяца назад +1

      I put it in neutral or park
      The gearbox is constantly moving while in Drive.
      The gearbox will become warm when in D while not moving.
      The engine may reveive cooling from the radiators, but the transmission won't.

    Hi bros , is it normal that when my car shift from 1st to 2nd there is like a little shock in the car ?

  • @droppinBOMBS310
    @droppinBOMBS310 2 года назад +4

    When I drive in comfort, it shifts too early. Around 1500 rpm. Also, when I’m driving 40mph, it’ll be at 8th gear. Would a reset help?

    • @stevenbolton5967
      @stevenbolton5967 Год назад +1

      Did you find a fix ? Mines kinda the same it’s just goes really quick up through the gears for no reason at a low speed

    • @luboskopecky6717
      @luboskopecky6717 9 месяцев назад +1

      That's normal behavior. The carmaker is reacting to the absurd requirements of the EURO standard on emissions by shifting early (at low revs) to save a little fuel. The fact that running at such low revs doesn't do the engine much good is irrelevant in the context of the EURO emissions guidelines. Same with the automatic start/stop system.
      You should achieve "normal" behaviour by switching to Sport mode.

    • @ethan3181
      @ethan3181 4 месяца назад

      The fact that it does that shouldn’t be an annoyance as such. It’s normal because if you put your foot down, it will change gear later.

    The green gear indicator light does not come on the lever. What is the problem…and remedy?

  • @motivationindrive8514

    All though sitting with parking break on awhile in Drive is just not very smart, it does absolutely no more damage whatsoever then sitting in park or neutral… the torque converter is mated onto the out put shaft of the engine, as long as the engines spinning so is the torque converter regardless of what gear is selected

    • @APTechs
      @APTechs  2 месяца назад

      When the vehicle is on drive, you can feel it’s engaged and ready to take off. This means ECU and other parts of the motor are being used while on stationary.

    That's bs. The 'load' is by design. From wear and tear pov it is much better to leave any auto car in D and hold on the brake rather than switching to P and D again to move coz it cause more wear and tear. Read up more stop posting bs please

    What a load of fucking spaghetti, there's a start stop for a reason if ur in D for Drive and u stop the car should turn off !!! Problem solved no need to move between park and drive fucking hell

    Sorry but don't you think they tested this? I've got the same ZF gearbox... no issues, except for user?

    • @APTechs
      @APTechs  Год назад

      These common issues are not from BMW but from the users. For example, changing gear to reverse while vehicle is rolling forward. This will harm your gearbox lifespan.

  • @ethan3181

    This is bs. In a manual car how do you think they do hill handbrake starts. With their handbrake and in drive; 1st gear. The car won’t get sad
