It's gonna sound racist, but neither Canada or it's universities are doing enough to make sure that international students have the the ability to sustain themselves while they are here, before they're enrolled. That's adding extra strain to systems which have already been stretched thin for at least a couple of decades. My sister went to work overseas a few years ago, and she had to prove that she'd be able to support herself while in country, in order to be granted a work visa.

Throw in 3 or more million immigrants soon to be followed by their families during an existing cost of living and housing crisis. I am on disability. Given my $13,000 annual (Poverty line is $19,930 so I am $6030 below that modest level) income annually I have no choice but to use the food bank. I am paying 75% of my disability to rent my apartment, access transit and pay for my cell phone which is considered a necessity by my disability worker. Still, there is no additional funding for it. I had to pay an extra $100 for a medical test not covered by OHIP last week. I have been using food banks continuously for 15 years. I only buy deeply marked-down products at the grocery store.

This alone causes a shortage of everything, including housings, jobs, food, income and so on.
Also our salary or wage is not growing enough to keep up with inflation due to cheaper labour influx from tons of new immigrants every year.

It's gonna sound racist, but neither Canada or it's universities are doing enough to make sure that international students have the the ability to sustain themselves while they are here, before they're enrolled. That's adding extra strain to systems which have already been stretched thin for at least a couple of decades.
My sister went to work overseas a few years ago, and she had to prove that she'd be able to support herself while in country, in order to be granted a work visa.

Throw in 3 or more million immigrants soon to be followed by their families during an existing cost of living and housing crisis. Although in my community which has a min. 5 year waiting list for affordable housing the thousands of recent immigrants are being housed and/or buying most homes on the market thus keeping availability almost non-existent and the prices high. Inflation erased my charitable donations...Also i used to donate so a struggling Canadian family could eat. I'm not going to donate to feed international students that are just making the problem worse.
Canada needs to start handing out free bags of wheat. In india, the government provides free grains to the needy.

I am on disability. Given my $13,000 annual (Poverty line is $19,930 so I am $6030 below that modest level) income annually I have no choice but to use the food bank. I am paying 75% of my disability to rent my apartment, access transit and pay for my cell phone which is considered a necessity by my disability worker. Still, there is no additional funding for it. I had to pay an extra $100 for a medical test not covered by OHIP last week. I have been using food banks continuously for 15 years. I only buy deeply marked-down products at the grocery store.

Today it was announced that it will now be even easier to get canadian citiizenship which will add to our unsustainable growth. The food banks, the housing market and health care are all gonna collapse sooner than later.
I mean, I think this policy is aimed at allowing the children of original Canadians to return here if they were born to expats outside the country. It actually lets European Canadians back in. But of course, it's badly put together and will have the wrong effect.
