Canada agreed to this in 2014, when it was 0.99% of GDP. In this Liberal Gov't's tenure we are only at a point of ~1.3%? Think about all the conflicts since 2014 and what should've communicated a certain urgency. We know governments can spend money when they want to, look at COVID response. Quite frankly, this Liberal Government didn't consider defense spending a priority, nevermind the procurement issues.

13 years to procure military utility vehicles and the F-35 fiasco as examples - military procurement process is clearly broken. It’s high time we streamline this system and commit to raising defense spending to 2% of GDP to ensure our armed forces have the equipment they need and we meet our international obligations.
