Rear Axle Vent Tubes

In this video, Chuck talks about this 1964-74 GM rear axle vent tube. This vent tube is 3/8" and is used to vent the rear axle tube on the passenger side of the axle.

What does the vent tube go to or connect to on a car?

This is the small vent that pushes into the rear axle housing.

It doesn’t it vents to the atmosphere, so that pressure does not build within the differential. All gearboxes are vented in some fashion
