So after running this new RC Trophy Truck for a bit, how does it hold up? What can be improved? And what did you guys and girls wonder about?
Losi has just released the Baja Rey 2.0, I have the 2023 Ford Raptor R Method version in the studio and out for a test run, but there is also a Ford F100 Isenhouer version available. The Method version looks fantastic, it features licensed BF Goodrich KR3 tires in a more durable compound, Method 101 rims with a dull chrome finish, lots of King shock details and a completely new suspension setup to increase the realistic look and feel of what is one of the most successful RC Trophy Trucks available. With a tried and tested electronics setup, consisting of a 130 A waterproof Spektrum Brushless ESC and a 3800 kV motor, get ready to send 3S lipo power through the reinforced drive train for some scale Desert Running fun!
From Losi:
For over 50 years Baja, California, has been the proving ground for products in development by auto and aftermarket manufacturers. It’s one of the toughest off-road environments on the planet and a grueling test of endurance. These same characteristics also make Baja the perfect place
to test the mettle of desert truck racing drivers.
Unlike typical “closed course” racing at speedways and similar tracks, at Baja the racing is checkpoint-style. From sun up to sun down, competitors race across hundreds of miles of both populated and deserted land. They encounter rocks, sand washes, dry lake beds, cattle crossings, mountain passes, and more - but few paved roads. When the going gets tough, the tough keep going!

So important to take care of yourself mentally and physically, glad to hear your feeling much better. On a selfish note, stoked to see content from you again. I sincerely hope everything continues to work out for you!
Nice to hear from you, Niels! And you are absolutely right!
This is the kind of review I want to see more of. Really touched on the things I wanted to know from an owner's perspective.
Good to hear and glad you enjoyed!
Yep, the first RUclips people who get them for free know nothing about the trucks
Glad your doing well my man.
I appreciate it! 🙌🏼
Glad your feeling better , and are back at making videos , hope to see more from you
I have put my original raptor rey through absolute hell and the only thing I have broken is the front bumper. It is amazing what sort of abuse these newer rc’s can handle
I'm using a RPM Bumper and its working fine.👍 i think its the only weakness.
I've killed a bunch of servos on my fleet of Baja Reys, but that was probably accelerated wear from the endpoints being set too wide. Other than that, only a few minor things have broken or gone missing.
Absolutely a stout truck!
I want that truck so Fing bad. I can’t wait until Vitavon gets its hands on it.
I’m sure they’ll make some good stuff. 👍🏼
Thank you for the information I ordered mine on Monday and still waiting for it to ship, so excited for this exactly what I have been waiting for
Hope you enjoy it!
Glad to see you are back and feeling good! Love the content as aways 👍🏻
Glad to hear it! Thank you for the support!
that has to be the best RC spot ever, so hard to find a spot in Northern Michigan. People everywhere, do most of my rcing at the dunes spring and fall after tourists go home, which they never really do. I bought the hammer rey which I do like but I should of got the baja, due to handling issues with hammer rey.
good to have you back love the vids! looking forward to a new shop tour? maybe steal some ideas lol
On it! Stay tuned!
Hope everything comes together real soon bro and good to see you bk in action ❤...I really enjoyed the great in depth view you've done on this new release by losi, im already a step closer to getting myself one of these, thanks for a great vid man 💯... Looking forward to the next one. 😊
Appreciate that, and thank you for the kind words!
Great seeing you again my friend!
Thanks! You too! 👊🏻🙌🏼👍🏼😄
Nice Q&A Chris! Love the real-time shots.
It sure hauls butt! Too fast for my old hand/eye coordination. ;)
I like how you think lol why have one when you can have them all 😊
If you have the room and the budget, you can never have enough 😂
I add self adhesive felt under the arches to protect the paint
That’s a good one!
Great information. Thanks for the overview.
Glad it was helpful!
Always enjoy your content.
You are looking so much healthier than last year. No idea why you the time and i don't need to know but you look better for it.
Thanks so much for noticing! Sometimes you head the wrong way and you just need to pump the brakes and make some changes. :)
Keep your head up!
Will do, thank you!
I had bought the older version to king shock version the day before this came out. The next day I went back and ordered the 2.0 Eisenhower version and it is a gorgeous looking truck. Haven’t had a chance to drive it yet with triple digit weather right now. Still waiting for the V2 to show up.
Enjoy it, the Isenhouer version is also a fantastic looking truck!
One of the coolest rc's out there for sure 👍
Stunning looks for sure, lots of good stuff on it.
These look really good. Thinking about one...
But I'm currently waiting for my LOSI Pro Circuit to be delivered
Nice 👍 Always good to see you!
Great review.
I'm thinking od getting this, can't decide between this and the Losi 1/6 Baja Rey....
How would you compare it to the yeti score ??
Come out with cool bodies? They both are awesome bodies! Of course I realize you can sort of paint pretty well! Lol jk. I wish I could have you paint for me! God bless!
To fit the 2.0 body on a v2 you need the new cage, body mounts, and body...It comes to almost two hundred dollars...
And a longer wheelbase, so it is pretty much a pointless exercise indeed!
@@hemistormrc Says 14.6" (371 mm) wheelbase on both the v2 and the 2.0...Not sure about the first version
I may be wrong but isn't this the 3rd or version 2.1? I still think it looks killer.oh yeah, awesome review dude! Love the video.
You are absolutely right, it is the third version but the first full revision with substantial updates on various components, hence this being named the 2.0. 🙌🏼
It's the third revision, but the first big redesign. The first revision added the Raptor body on adapters, revised rear axle casing, rear differential, and rear light bar. The second revision switched the old Dynamite ESC for the newer Spectrum ESC. The 2.0 changes the whole cage and suspension.
Completely off topic but where’d you get your hat and what brand?
ran it once and not hard at all but do believe one of the driveshafts went or something =(
Mooie plek om te rijden,..
Ja geweldig mooi hier!
Just another question not this topic related, but your history with the hpi octane. If you have the chance to buy a hpi savage octane nowadays for about €350, would you do this or let this one pass, and dont look back. Thanks in advance, Dirk
I’d snatch it up, if you are fully aware of its shortcomings.
One of the comments on the official listing for the truck on Losi's website says that it overheats very quickly (within like 5 minutes), did you experience this at all?
Hey, wanneer komt deze losi in nederland??
When the suspension is compressed is the chassis on the ground? if the chassis is not on the ground could you please look into ways of making it on the ground.
It's low but not bottomed out, the geometry won't allow for it.
You really do not want chassis slap my friends😂
Wondering why the front suspension sits so high. Seems very stiff in comparison to the plush rear suspension.
No battery loaded in the video, it sits pretty much level when it’s in. 👊🏻👍🏼
@@hemistormrc Thank you for the reply! But while driving the front also looks very stiff for a trophy truck… maybe a little high preload of the springs?
Hope to get one sometime in Europe…. Nobody knows when it’s available here.
@@martinbiering3094Nothing a little tuning can't fix though!
Please tell me the size😊
Available in Europe?
Do you perhaps know when it or the spare parts will be available in Europe?
I am guessing this week as it is picking up quite fast.
@@hemistormrc hopefully, can't wait to convert the old one to the new one 😆
Is this bigger than the last version? It looks it?
Larger wheelbase indeed! Looks way more proportional.
I may get one, not sure yet. 🤔🤔
You need it in your life! 😉
@hemistormrc I have a losi rock rey that's a shelf queen, it breaks all the time, bad design by using vaterra twin hammers diff cups that can't handle the power going to it. Losi and horizon hobbies knew this and put the car out anyway. I know this cause I did a review on the rock rey and horizon hobbies edited my review and removed comments showing the design mistakes. That's why I'm waiting to see how the Baja Rey holds up. Very disappointing that horizon hobbies does censorship in their comment page.
The wheel rubbing is definitely a thing. I only got a single pack through it and it's almost through the plastic. That's just running up snd down the street and very minor jumps.
Can confirm. It's been an issue on all Baja Reys since the beginning. I saw similar wear on my Traxxas Slash back in the day though, so I wouldn't consider it unusually severe.
@@brendanshroyer7696 I wonder if there's a way to put bump stops somewhere to help? Although you would lose a bit of suspension travel.
@@HunterEvolution You can add spacers onto the shock shafts, but you'd need to reduce the travel by a lot because of how much the stock tires expand. If you're mostly planning to drive on asphalt, I'd recommend using a set of short course street tires and putting a large piece of packing tape over the wear spots. The smaller diameter tires will rub less and the tape will catch the impact from any extra hard bumps. As a bonus, your tires will last longer too. The stock tires are way too soft for street use and wear really fast on asphalt.
@@brendanshroyer7696 I'll be doing a little of both driving. Last night for its maiden voyage it was already dark out so I stuck to the streets where I can see it better
@@HunterEvolution I've had some success with my set of Duratrax Bandito SC tires on my gravel driveway, but they are still noticably less effective off road than on road. And on the flip side my off road tires wear down really fast on pavement and rub through the paint on the body much faster because of their softer compound and larger diameter. Something like the Proline Icon tires might make a good compromise between the two.
Shocks are not fully scaled as UDR that sucks
Please elaborate as I'm not sure where they aren't fully scaled. Thank you for checking it out!
@@hemistormrc well UDR has like bypass style shock and one spring shock as the desert truck has
there is a chinese brand sell a scale short course truck too and he is very good too
Cheers!
Ben ik nou echt de eerste ,👍
Het scheelde niet veel! 😁👊🏻🙌🏼
How’s it fair against a yeti score swear people forgot they exist 😂
Since you can no longer buy those and hardly ever see them listed for sale, I didn't compare them.
Ford sticker looks very odd on it
Which one?
Traxxas UDR breaks parts all the time while the center transmission gets WAAAAAAAAYYYY to hot, actually faster than the actual motor. Bad design all the way through
Great looking truck, but they all have their forte’s.
