I think he is just the best student in the class? He seems to get the answers right most of the time and quicker than the rest but he also makes mistakes to often to be too strong to be in the class
Legendary irritating person. Has been there ever since the early Sibicky videos. One of the main reasons why I hardly ever watch them. (This one is "unmissable" though, had to persevere :) )
@34:41 It seems black can throw in at B19, white if forced to take at A19 and then Black can connect A17 and now has an advantageous Ko. Edit: I get it. White can tenuki and Black has "passed" like with Black E19. He got a better Ko but that is small.
What do you think of the idea that the computers can play these moves because they can play the mid game like computers too? I'm not convinced that these moves are the be all end all to 3-3 unless you can capitalize on them.
I don't know if it's just the videos I happen to choose to watch, but it seems you get sick in almost every other video. Lol Hope you and your family are all healthy and well. Btw, thank you for all the work you do to teach people Go -- even when under the weather. :)
super nova inside a super nova ... makes me scared to be honest. I agree there is the humbling feeling, like wow the skill cap on the game is so far beyond what we had imagined. but also fear that the power could be used for purposes which are not in our best interest.
I hate to say it, but doesn't Dan have a point? At 32:45, after w 17-A, b 16-A can't white force black to start the ko in white's favour? If w 14-A, b has no choice but to play 19-B, and white now starts the ko with a capture.
38:01 there is a vid by a go club in Lyon/France about the complicated fighting josekis. They've posted a link for a sgf with variations in the description, if you are interested and don't speak french. ruclips.net/video/rRJcvcfoAn0/видео.html Also: thx for the lesson ^^
37:57 Boo, this is the one I most wanted to study coming into this video. Cool lecture tho, I didn't know some of the history/development^^ EDIT: I found some variations and they're crazy, damn.... okao-golab.com/2018/01/04/post-1646/ , okao-golab.com/2018/08/16/post-4632/ , okao-golab.com/2018/08/04/post-4521/ , etc...
Mindblown Galaxy Brain by Dan's comment that for AlphaGo the time between Master and Zero is experienced as millions of years only playing Go games against itself!!
for some reason i really get triggered when the students make comments :D many times they just make empty noises by speaking without thinking beforehand. Not because they are low level or something.. they just speak before thinking if they really agree whit what they say.
it would be fun if u could review/react to me and my friend's first game on the 19x19! Its really silly so it might be a fun video to do. If it isnt too much to ask of course that is..
I'm not very strong, but if you've got a video or an sgf or a link to the online go page I can try to do a game review for you. This is also like 2 years late xD
Much respect to Nick for putting up with this old man's questions and comments in each and every video.
Can't believe you all couldn't remember H.P. Lovecraft. :P
Shame on them.
lmao I know him and I'm a fucking kid
Failed my go test but I passed the horror literature pop quiz in the middle.
@@tristanspencer3418 youve redeemed yourself ser.
Hahahaha
Sometimes I raise my hand to ask a question but Nick always skims over me while he looks for a question from someone else.

I don't know what it is but you look good in this video :D
Huh, and so he does.
Nick is bae.
I was gonna say the same thing. Lookin fresh, man!
You anyone explain the ladder problem that occurs with b K16, w C12, b D12, w D15 (around 16:20 in video)
10:07 e15 is the misake, you start the ladder right away and if he runs you end up with an eye

Great lecture Nick! This was really fun!
Please do more of this type of Joseki evolution video!

Lovecraft's genre is called 'cosmic horror'. Maybe there's a Takemiya joke in there.
Cosmic go but the center opens up into a portal through which you hear chanting and your opponent laughs as you are sucked in
So what would happen if black goes for e19 and d19?
He gets to kill white group for 3 moves?
Are there any examples of how the robot plays out that ko battle?

9:38 If white doesn't have the ladder d18 is a good move.
Shush Dan.

White could play A15 directly for the same result, no need for A17.
