i'm getting back into go seriously this year and going through your back catalog of lessons is an INCREDIBLE resource! i just know i can search sibicky + some concept and find several full lectures. thank you!
桂馬(けいま, keima), lit. "knight" is indeed the knight's move. 大桂馬(おおげいま, oogeima), lit. "large knight" is... well, the large knight's move. The k turns into a g because of rendaku, where a previously unvoiced consonant (k) becomes voiced (g) in compound words. In this case, you have "oo" for "large" and "keima" for "knight". Stick them together and make the first consonant in "keima" voiced and you have "oogeima".
At 44:22 can't white also attach at C16? I've seen that more, though mostly when there's an extension off of the large knights enclosure. Probably because the 3-3 gets black a huge wall that would go nice with the extension.
The reason I prefer to take other free corners over enclosing my own has to do with having a strong presence on the board. If you take a corner, you then have a strong position to work from in that area.
A lot of the AI stuff is not applicable for non-pro humans anyways. They are better off with traditional Go. That is why Sibicky is wrong when he says that Go theory was proven wrong as the theory is only good if it can be applied by the people of interest.
Komi was less back then so that is why Cho Chikun thought that a move in the corner worths 5 points. It should be around 6 points. If you pass instead of play you lose by komi (on average) which is 6.5 points.
If Black passes, then White is effectively going first with 6.5 points reverse komi. The swing is 13 points. So the first move is worth 13 points, if we assume that 6.5 komi is fair. What I think is interesting is that if Cho Chikun is right, if a corner is worth 5 points of territory, that means the other 8 points are from the influence of that stone. In other words, you'll eventually be able to use the influence of that stone to get another 8 points across the whole board (over the course of the game), on top of the 5 points loosely secured in the corner.

Because people are different and learn at different speeds.
Also advice for less skilled players can still be useful for more skilled players.
Most of them aren’t and it’s different people each class just some people come every week
