Frostpunk is a city-building survival game developed and published by 11 bit studios for Microsoft Windows.
In an alternative timeline in 1886, snowstorms and frost led to failing crops and the death of millions.
The player is the leader of a group of people who fled the cold and the hunger to find a heat generator. The player's task is to manage them so they would fire up the generator and build a city, which should cover their basic needs.
The player character starts out with a small group of survivors (that consist of workers and engineers) and several small caches of supplies with which to build their city. From there players have to harvest coal, wood, steel and food in order to keep their society warm and healthy. Weather conditions and political turmoil can cause citizens to not want to work as hard. The player has the option to use laws to regulate the productivity of their society at the cost of possibly raising discontent. Building the workshop structure allows the player to research technology that will make the city more efficient, in addition research will allow you to scout the wasteland for additional survivors and resources.

Such an emotional game. Never thought a city builder with survival aspects would get this fucking good. My story went as such: We started as nothing, just mere scrubs lazy and unwilling to come to any compromises. When our biggest flaw became apparent, we adapted and united as one. Order became our strength, and weakness. There were those who opposed our ideals, and in blindfolds followed dead ideas that were apparent to faill. But we held strong, and the power of people once again prevailed! As days passed, we were forced to take great risks and give up on lives to save us all, and when the great storm came, there wasn't much we could do. Hospitals were filled with people, those who could not find a place in them were dying on the streets or freezing in their homes, those who became strongly ill slowly passed away, and people started to lose hope. The city was on a verge of breakdown, when I finally made the necessary steps to freedom - Oppression. A New Order has begun, there was no place for hope in a world of white darkness, we had to work as one, well oiled maschine. Yes, some did resist this idea, but even these people were used to preserve... city? possibly humanity? They were used to preserve US. And when the city laid silent, a sunshine came, and we rised from the ashes, now bound with the strongest bond, dedicated to not live, but to preserve.
Some may ask, was it worth it?
My reply usually is, would we be here to think about this, if it wasn't?

I must truly say, that this masterpiece gave me something that I think I've lost like 10 years ago playing video games. That urge to play, sweet time waiting until I'll be finaly able to get back to play today. Feel of joy. Every second playing that fell challanging yet happy. Often I fell like "cool, but what for?". This time it was pure happines.

I read a lot about the game - that it is too easy, that decisions are not so impactful... This is the atmosphere of this game that makes it epic! 1st soundrack is taking part during the most challenging and last moments of storm coming... And this relief when storm ends...

    • @HaosKitsune
      @HaosKitsune 3 года назад

So true, also most people I know who complained about the game being too easy were the ones who played on easy difficulty and unethical path, I really don't see the point of playing this game aiming for new order/new faith, I think normal difficulty on new home was balanced just about right for newcomers, while still bringing an amazing feel with completion.

Your walking back from one of the Steel Giants as the storm creeps closer and closer, you and your fellow scouts run as fast as they can with the steam cores and wood you just found, braving the cold weather.
As you start to near the Generator, you see another scout group, followed by many survivors they must of found.
You keep marching, knowing that these steam cores will save the lives of your family and friends.
as you near the edge of the crater, a loud bang originates from the crater, and a piece of steel fly's towards you, tearing one of your friends in half as the storm is minutes away.
As your fellow scouts fall on their knees and you see the other scouting party running to the crater while other people cower in fear, you finally realize what happened.
The Generator exploded...your doomed... every last shred of your hope dies out almost instantaneously.
The Steam cores are useless now...the wood...burned, to try and keep you alive.
Then a Man steps forward, "There is still hope!"
He tells you a plan of rebuilding the generator as the storm engulfs you.
A New Spark Ignites in your heart, The City Must survive...
