One of my faves from this house. Highly, HIGHLY underrated frag that went under many peoples radar. Beautiful rosy, leather. I find this a wonderful combo of classic & modern perfumery. I see very little connection to any of the Dior Homme line.
This is what I like about your reviews, I would never give this a chance, it wasn't even in my radar, now it is and I will definitely try it, thank you Marc!!!
Blind bought this and was instantly reminded of lyrics man just sniffing the atomizer so I left it on the shelf for a couple years and came back to it when lyric got low and really enjoyed it and realized it wasn't so redundant after all . Now I need two back up bottles
Amouage jokes 😆 Hell, don't stop, belieeeeeving. I remember James from J-Royl really loving this one once. And didn't Ramsey mention that there's a bit of it in Eugen's Belle Ame? But the best take has to go to Mo (The Scented Engineer) when he compared it to Kaleidoscope Fine Fragrance Mist from Bath and Body Works. 😄 He could've been on to something...
Hey man...great 1st impression. I hear ya, when your collection gets hefty, we tend to neglect fragrances that we really shouldn't. Imitation falls into that category. Haven't touched it sadly, in a minute. That being said, it will be my SOTD for today! lol 60 degrees F here in good ole Georgia USA so I think it will be very appropriate for the weather. Thanks Marc. Always a pleasure brother.👌 The Bopper
Les Abstraits La Douleur Exquise reminded me a bit of Imitation Man with the rose / patchouli Orris & Castoreum... love imitation man... so under rated 🤌🤌🤌🦫
Imitation Man I bought because I wanted something artsy and fun. After wearing just a few times I realized it was actually one of the best fragrances I owned. The vibes are incredible. Masterpiece. If this is discontinued I am buying a back up bottle.
You describe it better than anyone: cedrat, iris, leather, spices, complex development... Imitation is actually the first Amouage I tried when starting my fragrance journey. To me it's the most elegant from the line together with Reflection: niche but likeable (Interlude and Jubilation sometimes get me the yuck stare, don't even mention Fate or Gold...). What do you mean by full fledged review? Isn't it what you just did here? ;)
so. I have 3-4 days with it. I dont feel any leather, just the opening and spices/iris/rose. To me it's like a ....woodier and spicier Dior Homme Parfum?I can't say that I adore it, but women around me are wow.
Another ignored one in this category I feel is Dans Tes Bras by Frederic Malle. It's one of those I bought, and push in the back of the row, then pull it out and it takes years getting to appreciate. But it's nothing really like it.
I was not aware this was beeing discontinued I had a 5 ML decant a while back & do remember a vinyl records feel to this one also reminded me of what I call the mancera feel . I was considering this one but then forgot all about it now I might have to get it before it's to late
Easily one of the more interesting amouages in my collection. I never once thought of Dior homme while wearing this. I've grown to like it more with each wearing, but I don't think it will ever get past a "like" category
Funny how you say Imitation Man gives you different qualities on different wearings, Marc. Like it could almost be a different fragrance, on different days. Because, Interlude Man does the same thing to me. Some times its more insensee, Smokey, and , herbaceous, and other wearing I find it much more sweet, from the myrrh, and whatnot.
Yea I’m wearing this today and I think I really dislike it. I really wanted to love this but after several days it’s not for me! Also very feminine reminds me of an older woman.
@@robes08 i wonder where you think it fits in the spectrum of musky / woody fragrances. It reminds me most of a Jean-Claude Ellena fragrance, like a smoother Terre d’Hermes. And it’s one of Demachy’s final works. Please make that video. 🙏
I’m really sad Christopher has gone. I know it’s early days but it’s not the same, it’s not as creative, it’s simply not as good with the fish man in charge. I hope they change my mind 😅
What a gem!!! Amouage did its thing to promote gender confusion i have to admit. Keeping our masculinity intact in this androgynous Age is becoming more and more difficult with a banger like this frag...
Amouage is trying out the Tom Ford tactic of releasing everything and then discontinuing most of them. I'm not done with Amouage, but my fanboy status has faded considerably. I won't buy a perfume called "Imitation", nor will I buy a perfume emblazoned with the word "Replica". "What are you wearing today?" "Imitation." "Oh, how special!" "What is your favorite house?" "Replica." It sounds like shopping for formal wear at Goodwill, not that there is anything wrong with that. The least Amouage could do is come up with more inspired names like "Fucking Fabulous."

Totally agree

Appreciate the support and happy I could open things up for you to discover something new! That's what this is all about!

I think it may be the most under rated of the brand tbh (at least in the men's line).
@@robes08 you should try la douleur exquise too Marc... trust the Ram 🐏

I agree that it's a very solid release!
@@robes08 random question - have you tried reflection 45 and if so, do you think it is worth it?
I just bought it based on this review Marc. 50ml for 88 euros. That’s a steal!🔥🥰
that is a steal! Did you blind buy it?
Yes

lol I guess this video is good enough but I think I can get more out of it with more testing.
Enjoyed. I've yet to put my nose on this, but it's on the to-sniff-list. Gotta get to it. Cheers!
Cheers Jim!
Brilliant allusion I heard in no other review on this. Vinyl record leather smell.
I try to paint a picture as much as I can.
so.

Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the review. Always nice to hear your thought on Amouage. Have you tried Fate Man?
Yes, I own a bottle of Fate!
I have a full bottle of fate Man. I don’t know when the wear it to be honest. So I always wears it when I wanna go to sleep .
I really enjoy the house of amouage currently killing the bottle of overture man the cumin myrrh and saffron is gorgeous to my nose. Thanks Marc
Overture is one I need to show on my channel too! So much to shoot
@robes08 you won't be disappointed good day sir.

don't take my word for it, like I said I heard that it was but I didn't do the homework to confirm it.
@@robes08 aright thanks either way this reminded me to put it on my wishlist

I never thought DH at any point during this wearing. Weird that people compare it to it.
Time for me to get a back up bottle this is one of my favorites from the house.
💯

Amouage scents do that imo. Excellent scents!
Great review and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try it and have a blessed day

Yea I’m wearing this today and I think I really dislike it. I really wanted to love this but after several days it’s not for me! Also very feminine reminds me of an older woman.
Journey man is the bomb
💣
In your opinion, which perfume house is better or at least equal to Amouage, I mean strictly Chong's era?
I don't see much comparing to that lineup to be honest, perhaps Serge Lutens/Sheldrake.
@@robes08It's incredible what perfumes Amouage released in the past, out of all the men's range only Figment Man I don't really get along with
nice lathry insenc perfume withe best mode profourmens put you need time 2 love the sent and undrstand the deep of the sent
No doubt!
Good review
Thanks!
Good work
You are putting in good work.
Just curious Do you enjoy this more or less than Myths Man?
Depending on taste and how I feel at the time, both excellent imo.
FYI Amouage means Waves in Arabic
👍

I miss Christopher Chong. The brand is getting a little meh.
I just bought Royal Tobacco and Silver Oud so not completely meh but I know what you mean
I got a few samples of the new direction so let's see what they can do!
Enclave is my most complimented Amouage
