You want a good laugh? When I first tried playing World of Warships years and years ago I wanted to work as part of a team. I figured that historically in world war 2 destroyers primarily worked escorting other ships and thus were a good option. I looked up the various ships and read Little White Mouse's reviews. The German DD line said it had the best anti aircraft capability of any destroyers currently in game and so I went down that tree first. I got to the Maass before I realized that AA on a destroyer is about as useful as tits on a fish.
If an citadel at such health numbers is a "pitadel", is a detonation like this a "pitonation"? Jingles has to clarify this, I think, seems important. 🙃
Many thanks to The Mighty Jingles for showing my battle. Not the most exciting but I'm pleased with the result. Not bad for a half pissed 67 year old 🥳
the sub couldn't do anything. the dd was inside 3km which meant his torps would have done 10 percent damage so he was screwed and didn't use them., he went out fighting with the only weapon he had left, his rear deck gun hence why the side turn. not fatal rush of excrement, ran out of options.
@@smiddlehurst1 Its the new balance, to avoid ppl shotgunning ships in submarines (because Asskance is an idiot who thinks that doesnt happen very often - It was so "uncommon" that WG had no choice after 3 or 4 different ideas tried to prevent shotgunning that they finally made Sub torps do basically "Overpenetration" damage at close range, aka 10% of the alpha damage). Basically if you want to point blank someone with torpedoes, play a surface ship with torpedoes. If you are in a sub, better keep your distance or you are depth charge fodder. 3km is the cutoff. Outside of British DD hydro range (3km) you can wreck people with subs.
omg I have trouble believing this isn't a pratical joke. WG touching their favorite child and make DDs playable again? Maybe worth reinstallling the game now...
No it was a rush of shit to the brain, there was no reason to be on the surface, he could have turned around and started launching the rear torpedoes. There was a full 4:00 at the time he stupidly decided to run head-on towards a DD with sonar active. Frankly in mostly open water like that he should have started to turn away when the DD cleared the sonar ping and dodged the torpedoes. Honestly you would see less of these mistakes by sub players if they were not allowed to launch the forward torpedoes while at over 10kn, then they wouldn't constantly be getting far too close to enemy ships.
"None of them are particularly great, with the exception of the Pan-Asian Gadjah Mada" Erm.... the HMCS Haida would like to have a quick word with you, Jingles.

@katfezza4570 my mom is from clydbank, we are here visiting family. We will be in Edinburgh Monday after swift leaves lol. I'm used to the weather here.
Well it's quite simple Jingles, once Notlaw got with 3km of the sub, it was over for the sub, due to the shotgun nerf, there is literally nothing he could have done. Hitting him with whatever torps he had left would have netted him a cool 1000 dmg at best and diving would have just allowed the Maass to close the distance and depth charge him. So he just grabbed his ankles, fired a few angry shots with his deck gun, and kissed his ass goodbye.
Tier 7 DD's biggest problem are they get up tiered a lot and face DD's that can have the concealment module nothing like being in a stealth torpedo destroyer and facing gun boats with better concealment.
bingo. Maass, Akatsuki, Mahan, Jervis, and GM and a few other premiums actually do very similar HE DPM to T8s, but that 5th slot really screws the T6 and T7 loliboats into playing passive and reserved.
The KM DD line is my favorite because while it's not better at any one thing than the other DD lines, other than its hydro in the later levels, it's above average at everything and is a very well rounded line.
16:40 The sub fired all 4 of its fore torpedos. Im guessing it was trying to turn around to get its aft 2 off. They should have only fired 1 or 2 torps to waste the damage control then fire the remaining after getting the ping lock back
I thing the "gun" on subs is a secondary armament so it was just firing because he was on the surface, a rare sight indeed in this game seeing as subs rarely have any reason to be above periscope depth for long enough for the AI gunner to get the gun turned and firing before they submerge again.
Amongst the Tier 7 destroyers I'd say the Haida is the best. Most because of the insane close quarters potential. Float like a butterfly, sting like a cobra chicken.
4:18 Jingles you DID mention at the start of the battle that it's a ranked game ;) look as someone with ADHD I can absolutely empathise with wanting to repeat oneself xP
That Z-39 suffered from the age-old Naval condition of 50-50/ 90 - when given something with a 50-50 chance, 90 percent of the time you end up choosing the wrong one.
Until half of the battle he didn't even play that well. The Gaede should have died much sooner, he even didn't notice when it got spotted at B. And when the enemies were spotted in the north he should have engaged to kill the sub. The first BB kill I call somewhat lucky as it was a heavy misplay by the enemy, but then he did a good job indeed.
I'd say he didn't play well in the entire battle. Not even in the second part. He just got lucky. The Gaede should have died in B when it got first spotted there before he smoked up. 2-3k hp or what is nothing, but our guy sucked at priority targeting and general awereness. And smoking that Lyon was a waste of smoke. It only hindered them rather than help them. What did he even think? Also towards the end, that play around the island was particularly trashy. He was trying to torp the BB while it was sailing in the other direction and right in front of it's main guns? Any half decent BB player would have trashed this guy... also instead of going for the BB, he should have B-lined straight at the sub and the half dead Gaede he left alive. He could kill the DD in 2-3 salvos and then bum rush the sub. Easy. Neither the BB or the other DD were in position to shoot him. He had the HP, positioning and firepower to be much more aggressive while taking minimal damage. He could have saved the Lyon as well if only he played better.
@@Nighthunter6666 I didn't smoke the Lyon, it was for me but then decided my torp angles weren't right so I kept on going. Yes I missed the Gaede in B. The BB had just fired so I went out to torp and finish him. The Gaede reappeared and I finished him off. At the end of the day I'm an average Joe player, so I'm happy with the this result.
I tend to agree there was nothing special here skill-wise, but it's a good demonstration of how much a dd can influence the match simply by controlling caps and not suiciding.
@@rawcow2496 Then take this as a constructive criticism. 1. Always keep an eye on the minimap and look around yourself periodically. Enlarge the map if you need to. It will help you to survive, position strategically and to take out low health / priority targets. 2. Never. Ever. Chase anyone around an island if you can help it. Make THEM chase YOU if anything. Or even better, if you know you can take them out with minimal effort, bait them. Make them believe you are chasing them, but turn the other way around and pop up in front of them. 3. Forget these dumb torpedo runs you did in this video. Both targets were either sailing away or into cover. To hit them with torps, you need to spend an awful lot of time right in front of their guns. 9 out of 10 you will fail. Use guns. You will kill low health targets (even BBs) faster with guns, even if they are shitty guns, than you will ever do with torps. If you can even take them out with torps... 4. If you want to sink ships with torps from behind islands, you have to come from the front. If you also want to survive, you have to get on the opposite side from where their guns are pointing at. (aka guns pointing to the left side of the enemy ship, you want to be on the right side) A small and fast DD shouldn't have much problems running circles arount a BB at such close range.
The Cachalot wanted to turn away and use his rear torpedoes. He also needed to gain distance because torpedos that travel less than 3km before hitting only do 10% damage.
Jingles must have forgotten that submarines can neither capture target areas nor be detected by RPF when they’re submerged…because WG says that makes sense, so it does.
The Cachalot captain looked like he was trying to sink him with his deck gun, hence the turn as the US sub has his gun at the rear. At that range his torps were actually going to do less damage than the deck gun (under 3km and they only have a 10% damage and he was firing homing torpedoes so even less). The US subs also have a slow reload and only load half their tubes at a time so basically the sub was f'd because he knew he was up against a German DD with Hydro. If he had dived the DD would have come over and dropped him some tin cans so his only real option(other than running away and hoping his lead was enough, which it wasn't) was to surface and hope his hit points to take the pounding while his deck gun took out the DD. What he didn't take into consideration was getting hit by a torpedo. I know you dislike subs Sir but play them a few times and recognise the disadvantages subs now have especially in close quarters combat.
The subs have some of the disadvantages they require to be balanced. Not all of them but some. It’s a stupid class anyway that serves no purpose other than to disrupt everyone else’s gameplay and have little counterplay against it. CV’s are still massively overpowered by comparison.
%ahan now has as a top improved torp set the same torps as the Benson, which is a good improvement. It's been like that for a couple of years already. The guy on the Maass should have stayed on his flank against the Gaede, Gaede didn't have allied, Maass did, so the Gaede would have been disposed of fast. He was lucky the Gaede came back to the center near his position and had been damaged in the meantime. His two BBs on the West took way too much damage early on because the Gaede was not dealt with fast enough. Cachalot means Spermwhale in French, you're welcom. I don't think Gaede still has its 150 mm gun option since the release of the German Destroyer Leaders branch. I don't think RPF will point at a submerged sub even if it is closer to you than anything else.
The reason I didn't stay on that side is because we had 4 ships there and no one was looking to support B&C so I left them to deal with 1 DD. Seems like I made the correct choice or we wouldn't be watching this video.
Pronunciation is tough. If only there were some system of information storage and dissemination that could help. Something ubiquitous. That was at your very fingertips. All day. Right now. Ah well. Maybe someday.
