I feel like the skill lvl of players has dropped significantly over the past couple of years, maybe they've succeeded in bringing in new players. I hadn't played for over 3 months, logged in the other day, proceded to have a 6hr win session, in ranked, t6, without even one game coming even close, to being a loss. I myself have gotten rather rusty, over these 3 months, and didn't even play that well, occasionally I'd be top scoring, but mostly middle of the pack. Idk, I've got a feeling, skill lvl has dropped.
Hey there, The_Cool_Kids20 here. One fact about my division mate Wolf in this battle: he got 10 achievements as well. He got the same achievements as me, except he earned a High Caliber and AA Defense Expert in place of my Kraken and Double Strike. Props to him, he's a beast in Montana. Lovely as always to be featured here old man, last time was Game of Throws: Season 2 Episode 3! Thankfully this game didn't get placed into that playlist. Much love from the USA.
For a DD player, radar Minotaur is like natural disaster: 1% chance for it to happen, absolutely devastating when it does. It was the type of risk that insurance usually cover, and if there's any out there I'm gonna buy it.
its not so bad, you just pay attention to one in match, if you haven't seen one smoke up at least a quarter way in, there's a good chance it is one. What's deadly is when you see one div'd with a US DD, since you know it most definitely does have a radar and is going to use their smoke. Nevsky is what's scary in a DD tbqh, the thing has incredible ballistics; so it can hit you even easier than mino, the radar is almost as long, and the radar reaches further. Nearly every CL has really poor balistics past 12km, they tend to have problems landing shots once you're past that; Nevsky is the exception.
@@bluesynth7958 in theory, but in practice radar Mino is dangerous against DD in early cap contest. My morning video - this actually wasn't boring. About 99% of WoWs is BBs on the back line, Shimakazes torping from 10 miles or CVs just doing CV stuff. Well done Jingles.
As a Legends only player I run the Minotaur, Plymouth, and Edinborough all as radar cruisers. DD spotting range is quite commonly below 5km there. The Mino can be kitted out with surface detection that is lower than your radar range, meaning if you are spotted then there is a DD in range and they will die as long as it isn't a German AP slinging, cruiser health pool having abomination. Armor numbers are generally higher, and penetration a little lower in Legends as well, meaning smoke farming with AP on bow tanking targets isn't paticularly lucrative compared to just spamming HE with all the skills that can be put into fire breathing.
Jingles I was in the process of having a second Monday in the same week until I got this video in my queue. Made my day. You’re brave, talented, kind, excellent human being and just all round brilliant! Remember you are very loved by this community M8!

There's also the fact that Minotaur unlike Smolensk also has just enough belt and citadel deck armor to arm pretty much every AP shell in the game, unlike Smolensk whose 70mm belt is just narrowly thin enough to avoid arming 18" shells 76mm arming threshhold at close range. So long as the shell arcs are flat enough, the fuse won't even trigger.

You're right Jingles; it wasn't an episode of "A game of throws": It was one from "A game of stomp", and a rarely entertaining one (Usually they are very dull). Kudos to The_Cool_Kids20, a very surprising (and enjoyable) game indeed.
Once I watched jingles show someone with a radar minotaur, I have not been able to play a normal minotaur again. This is just such a fun ship with radar that loves to punish sneaky DD's. Even more rare is the Radar Edinburgh, I have only seen a couple of those. I've also seen a Neptune running not smoke or radar, but the fighter plane of all things! (it was in a ranked, where no cvs could be found, to make it even more stupid)
Ah good ol Mino... Had my highest scoring match ever in one. Great ship, if it doesent just "randomly explode" that is. Which happens more often than any Mino-enjoyer would admit. Greatest ship ever tho if you have the legmod.
Jingles, radar mino was rare back in like 2021 but now most people run it that way. If you're gonna run mino with smoke you might as well just play smolensk instead.
Nobody expects a radar Edinburgh either, and always good fun to entice them to close in to get good torp angles and then turn the tables on them. You can nearly see the confusion and fear emanate from the screen as the radar lights them up. It is however just as much of a glass cannon as Mino. I would also argue that with the ever increasing number of radar ships with ever increasing ranges, smoke screens are not that effective a lot of the time anyway.
i fantasize of a first person aspect of the game where you play as a crew member and get to choose your position on the vessel. id fight tooth and nail keeping everything functioning for the captain lol
I have to admit. I saw the title and immediately panicked. Just yesterday I got completely deleted by a radar minotaur while playing my kita. I really did not expect it. For a moment I thought my first ever appearance on the channel would be by being cought with my pants down😅
Whenever I drive the Mino, I always go radar. 10km detect, 10km radar range. I can counterdetect any DD nearly immediately and start deleting him quickly before he goes away...depending on if he ends up going YOLO, anyway.
I've been playing radar mino more in the past year or so, with all the radar and carriers, subs etc smoke doesn't provide you with half the security it used to, so you really end up playing around islands anyway - so taking the radar is no longer the massive defecit that it used to be. You do have to pay much more attention to your positioning and being able to disengage - I'm not sure what he was thinking openning fire in open water right at the begining there, not surprised he took serious damage.
What I really hate is when I am doing the Benson ninja stuff and A FRICKING BB pops 10+km radar, or a CV decides to camp on my DD with planes. I would like to point out that I will ruthlessly camp on a DD that is in gun range of my team (scouting red, protecting green DD, and making RED DD and subs cry).
In Legends, I usually play the Minnie in Radar mode. I do OK and it seems to make more sense to me. Once at that Tier, there's plenty of radar around anyhow, so Smokescreens simply aren't as useful as at lower tiers.. :)
Minotaur has one of the best AA suites in the game...FYI. Also, that CV was right...the triple division was try-harding. But, of course, that's the whole point of the game.
If you ever sail a DD and find yourself in the "funny" situation of faceplanting a Radar Memetaur; Go bow in. Minos shells have improved pen angles but not enough to help if you point straight at the Mino. If you are a gunboat DD, load AP and farm citadels. Most Minos will show broadside to get all guns on you. Here comes the skill check. A good Mino will keep turning away, or turn in to stop taking AP dmg, when he sees you go bow in and pop out AP shells (depends on the starting HP of both ships ofc) There is a weak point for the DD. The front gun turret(s). They can still be penned and take dmg but are a small target. Neither ship likes being spotted for too long so this situation can become a hilarious chicken race that ends when one of you gets slapped by half the enemy team.
Observer A: "Radar instead of smoke? That has to be the worst Minotaur Captain I've ever seen." ... after match results are in... Observer B: "Seven kills and eight Heroic Awards? That has to be the best Minotaur Captain I've ever seen." Observer A: "So it would seem." 😇

Loved this video, great work by cool kids. if I tried that I would be " Gone in thirty seconds"
When I saw them bitching about a Radar Mino, all I could think of was that Indiana Jones line "How dare he?!".
“How many Battle rewards did you get”
“Yes”
wow, the whinnying was epic after this paddling. Next time bring a paddle with no holes in it, so the screams are more muffled.
So, I had to stop the replay midway through and watch the Monty Python skit again; lol.
You're funnier than ever Jingles....
I had to go find a clip of the Monty Python Spanish Inquisition routine afterward and watch it again. Good times!!!
@themightyjingles it is referred to on NA as the "MAN-o-taur" when equipped with radar
But where was the threat of the comfy chair?
Radar Minos are a hilarious surprise. From somebody who loves ambushing DDs, this made me happy (in my pants).
In Legends, I usually play the Minnie in Radar mode. I do OK and it seems to make more sense to me. Once at that Tier, there's plenty of radar around anyhow, so Smokescreens simply aren't as useful as at lower tiers.. :)
You almost expect to see Palin, Jones and Gilliam strolling the deck.
Minotaur has one of the best AA suites in the game...FYI.
Also, that CV was right...the triple division was try-harding. But, of course, that's the whole point of the game.
I love hiding behind a cap in my Neptune and having DDs shit their pants when I use my radar
If you ever sail a DD and find yourself in the "funny" situation of faceplanting a Radar Memetaur;
Go bow in.
Minos shells have improved pen angles but not enough to help if you point straight at the Mino.
If you are a gunboat DD, load AP and farm citadels. Most Minos will show broadside to get all guns on you.
Here comes the skill check.
A good Mino will keep turning away, or turn in to stop taking AP dmg, when he sees you go bow in and pop out AP shells (depends on the starting HP of both ships ofc)
There is a weak point for the DD. The front gun turret(s). They can still be penned and take dmg but are a small target.
Neither ship likes being spotted for too long so this situation can become a hilarious chicken race that ends when one of you gets slapped by half the enemy team.
hope you good luck in every thing you do
Observer A: "Radar instead of smoke? That has to be the worst Minotaur Captain I've ever seen."
... after match results are in...
Observer B: "Seven kills and eight Heroic Awards? That has to be the best Minotaur Captain I've ever seen."
Observer A: "So it would seem."
😇
He got lucky. You see many mino's get dev struck.
"Bring out the comfy Radar!"
