- This is the FULL CONCERT VIDEO of Happy at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia, October 12, 1996, the 2nd show of the evening.
Many of these songs are already up on RUclips, at either k8fan's or my accounts (my husband and myself) but now RUclips allows me to upload longer videos. I thought it would be nice for people to see the whole thing in one go. It's been on MySpace for a few years and I'm thrilled that I can now put it on RUclips.
I love this show. I loved both of these shows (there are lots of cuts from the first show up on RUclips, such as the "rare" version of "Jork" and her hilarious original Calvin Klein ad, which she references in this one) but I chose to put the 2nd show up because she does those kickass killer versions of "Space Oddity" and "Come Undone" in this one. Plus her until-now unseen obsession with the kid with the baseball (you'll see what I mean). I have no plans to put up the entire first show because Happy wouldn't be pleased with the technical mistakes.
Kevin Bartlett on guitar, Carl Adami on bass, and Kelly Bird on backing vocals. I left it dark at the beginning so you could hear the reaction of the band coming on stage prior to Happy.

@xenussister Here I am in Philly 2022 watching this video and loving every minute of it. I first discovered Happy's music on WXPN back in the 90's and I was hooked. Such a beautiful voice and incredible vocal range! I had been to many concerts at the Tin Angel over the years and I can't believe I didn't know about this one. Thank you so much for recording and posting it. I'm not only enjoying the music but also reminiscing about the experience of being in the venue for so many amazing performances until the venue closed in 2017.
Sorry about the shakiness of this, but it was shot entirely hand-held - no tripod, monopod or anything. Very difficult to hold a camera steady for an hour and a half, so I would switch from one hand to the other as an arm got tired.
I saw her @ Tin Angel in 7/99 concert. She's fantastic with a great vocal range. Her music is missed!
I've very sad I didn't get to experience this in the '90s. This is amazing! Yes Relayer is one of my favorite albums... her version of Soon is mindblowing!

Finally this is up in the web again...Knowing Happy's music is one of the greatest gifts I have recieved from the Internet...hehehe...and one of the reasons why the TV and the radio are no longer relevant to me as a way to find good and meaningful music...Greetings from Mexico...
I discovered her just now, because I was looking for covers of David Bowie's "Space Oddity". I was looking for covers because I heard Colonel Chris Hadford's cover of the song while he was on the ISS. And so I found this, which was happening while I was young and around to hear it, but had no idea it was happening. Man.

@xenussister I found her by accident. Someone shared a song with me saying it was Kate Bush, and I knew it wasn't. So I googled the lyrics (The rain came down) and I listened to it over and over and over. I just couldn't get enough.
In June 2018 Numero Group, a re-discover label in Chicago will be releasing Ectotrophia, a compilation of songs from Happy's first 4 albums. It will be available on CD and LP (a first for Happy). We're all very excited! :)

I´ve watching a lot of videos and listen to a lot of music in my life. But the voice of happy makes me feeling like a baby close to her mother. I don´t know if somebody out there understands what i trying to say.

Evidently, Happy will be releasing her latest album, entitled "Ectotrophia", on the 29th of June. Very cool! :-)

She hasn't released an album since 2007. There have been slight rumblings that she might make another, but nothing concrete, and of course it could be years. If you're on Facebook you might consider joining the Happy Rhodes Fan Group (separate from the Happy Rhodes Page, which is pretty dormant, whereas the Group is fairly active). If anything concrete were announced, we'd be going nuts over there.
