Another good one in the books Mike! Looks like a fun project!
Thanks Anthony! 😃 -Mike
Thanks so much! Ive been wanting to turn a wooden base to fix a broken stem on a keep sake wineglass. I now feel I can move forward with confidence!🤗 Cheers!
Great video. It’s nice the tips you give about tool height and bevel edge.
......3 things that bring me back.....my given name is Mike....I'm left handed........and I'm a woodturner......I'm also an old guy and wished I coulda shook your daddy's hand. I'm sure he's smiling Michael! 👍
Great job!! Loved this!!
Excellent video, nice design!
Nicely done Mike. Another fun project to try. Refreshed my memory on some techniques.
Thanks Mike, always very appreciated and informative. Gotta try those.
Thank you for watching! 😊
Always always enjoy the videos
Thank you for watching!
Would like to know how to cut the stem of the glass
A Dremel with a diamond wheel will cut through easily.
Cant wait for Woodwork on Saturday to try this out. Very interesting, thanks
Have fun!
Excellent
I love this demo. You've created so many ideas for me. got to go to the shop and turn a wine glass.
Glad to hear you like the video! Have fun in the shop. 😊 -Mike
Great video!! Your presentation and the camera angles are first class. You do look like you are a little nervous or maybe hurried. Don't be. You are a very very good woodturner and one of the best if not THE best woodturning presenter on the planet, seriously.
Thank you so much! I was trying to keep this video a bit quicker that the last few. 😊 -Mike
Good stuff
Thank you, we appreciate it! 😊
Another sensational video! You're definitely the very best presenter! Love the great tips and technique ideas. Definitely going to see if I can find some of the glasses here in Australia! Would love to make a few of these from some of the really hard hardwood we have here. Just not sure I'm skilled enough to do that yet!!! Any tips on turning really hard wood would be great!!!
Hey Alan,
Give it a shot! Wine glasses out of the Aussie woods you guys have would be spectacular! I've got some Eucalyptus Burl I'm saving for a special project. -Mike 😊
@@CraftSuppliesUSA Thanks mate!! I’d love to try it with some Queensland Gidgee wood which is stunning! But sooooo hard!! Would love to see a video from you about turning with very hard hardwood! Especially since the wine glass stems will need special attention!
I really enjoyed the video on the wine glasses . I am just learning to turn and so far so good .. what do you charge for the glasses usually?
Thanks for this - excellent. Where are the glass bowls for sale? I would love to try this

Really like the wine glass holder .what's the best way to cut the stem of the wine glass without breaking it ?
Hey George,
A Dremel with a diamond cutoff wheel works great. -Mike
Two questions: first, please clarify the silicone adhesive you recommend; second, could you not simply use a stemless wine glass and adhere it to your custom turned stem? Thank you-and great job, per your usual standard!
Hey PBpleased,
You could definitely use a stemless wine glass, I would just make sure the turned surface matches the profile of the glass to maximize the support. The adhesive I used was this: www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/71/7119/red-devil-Clear-RTV-Silicone-Adhesive-Sealant
Thank you for watching! 😊 -Mike
Could you use Kirks scratch free after spraying lacquer to polish?
Absolutely, I usually use Scratch-Free then Micro Magic to polish out the lacquer. -Mike
Can you sand the tenon for the very final fit to the stem?
Hey Eric, You can sand the tenon for the final fit. The wood will compress a little more than if it was turned so take that into account when getting the fit. 😊 -Mike
where do u get wine 🍷 with a stub?
