God, I love Ernman's Orlofsky. I'll never forget the first time I watched this and actually thought she was a man until she started singing. And I love the Russian accent she uses.
I have 3 points to make: 1) this is the best version of this aria I have ever heard; 2) it is fascinating how such a beautiful woman can pass as a man so convincingly; 3) this year we got a proof that the Swedes take Eurovision seriously - they've sent the single greatest singer their country has at the moment! :)
She is absolutely fantastic....the phrasing, the slight coloraturas she brings with total mastery and totally in line (the colaraturas are not written) with the composer s intentions. Her embodiment of Prince Orlofsky...wow....what you can make of a small part when you are commited...Brava, brava....

The combination is certainly that which should be healded not obscured...

The one with Rebroff is rather ridiculous. Windgassen (not Windgass) is good, but it was written for a mezzo. I have seen many live productions, always with a mezzo, some better than others.

For me the most underrated artist of our times. In the sense that she's the best lyric mezzo of the last 20 years, but very few opera lovers know her.
She's able to sing Olympia's aria with several Eb6 she's sopran, a mezzo could never ever sing that. Although, I like her vibe, it's refreshing.

Best Count Orlofsky I've ever seen or heard. She's convincing, has the coloratura, body language of a man, and she's absolutely FABULOUS!
