As a long time supporter of this game, I sometimes wish that a tech-based melee combat style was available.
Technically, most tech classes have a melee based combat focus. Vanguard, Scrapper, etc. They just don't use melee weapons.
Concealment operatives use virbro knives, the literal tech melee weapons in the game. The range is 4m. That definitely is a melee tech spec.
same.....not "functionally melee" either, like a Mandalorian Gladiator type melee
@@holeeshi9959 (Audible Sigh) When I said "Tech-based melee" what I meant was a melee combat style similar to the Jedi Combat styles but for a tech-based user, like if the Smuggler had a vibrosword and a grappler instead of a guardian's force leap.
I am fully aware of the Agent's vibroknife powers. Those don't count as tech-based melee since a majority of the powers are with a blaster rifle/sniper rifle.
Or even a blaster vibroblade combo if we can't get a lightsaber
The Academy. A repository of knowledge for new and experienced players. Gratitude for your dedication to this game and it's player base. (bows head)
the best part is now everyone can add a Assassin/Operative style to their characters, makes things so much easier
I have recently started playing as a sith inquisitor as a mirauder, finding the combat a bit hard to grasp but I'll get there with time, I really appreciate you for making the academy, it's really helpful.
cheers! :)
If the devs really wanted to bring folks back, they need to create new classes, even if they're only a couple. Heck, just look at how some mmos still provide new classes a decade after release!
Personally, I wish we got a force-sensitive class for a ranged weapon like the sniper rifle. Or a tech finally getting to use a vibroblade or electrostaff.
Imperial Agent with scoundrel so I can be a real spy with a blaster preferably one that looks like it would be silent or a star wars bond would use lol.
This is very cool. It makes me want to get back into the game…

THE PLANET (Cadia) BROKE BEFORE THE GUARD!
Ah, good ol' 40k. Always epic.
force is a lie, there is only science
We craved the certainity of steel
Game is in a rough place but your vids are still shining.
SWTORISTA WE LOVE AND MISS U ALWAYS! MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAM ALWAYS!
THANKS WAYNE!
I wish they had the option to swap combat styles the way you wanted. So like say your main is a sentinel, but you could swap to whatever you wanted in scenarios. For example switch to sage if you wanna heal, or switch to guardian if you wanna tank. So basically the ability to swap builds if you wish.
I also say this cause corporate clash (a toontown server) now has the option to where you can refund a track to get a new one for example, and keep swapping different build options.
Thank you. This was so helpful as a returning player.
I just opened up swtor after... roughly 2 years at most and though "What the hell is all this?" and just as hoped my source of a good bit of swtor knowledge has a video for it.
You’re the best Swtorista!
I wish they added an option to change the interface color.
I find the switching combat styles ok, but I never really do it. Only time I do is when I don't feel like slicing up a bunch of enemies, so I'll use assassin or shadow and stealth by them.
Welcome back! You've been missed.
I'm planning to get back into the game after leaving for a while. This will be interesting to see how it works in practice. I wouldn't mind having my Knight main wielding stealth or something.
no no no !!!! NOW U FORCED ME TO DOWNLOAD AND PLAY AGAIN !!! hahah Thanks for the tutorial !
Let’s be honest:
Being a Tank or a Healer are thankless jobs, but necessary ones.
as great as combat styles are, they have broken the class story cutscenes completely. Ever seen an imperial agent pull out his or her invisible rifle? I have. I chose to make my new Imperial Agent a gunslinger and the scene in the dark temple on Dromund Kaas completely broke. I was hoping they would redo the whole class story cutscenes so they would look good with the new combat styles, but no, they didn't bother changing anything.
Same thing with force styles and invisible lightsabers. So lazy.
Anyone else wish they’d just make the skill tree’s system? Like every force users can have skill trees for all light saber and force abilities.

how u are a juggernaut and is holding the lightsaber with two hands???
I'm making a Dark side Jedi Consular which the thirst for knowledge will lead him to become a Sith Sorcerer.
Super helpful video! I do have a question though. Say someone got their two combat styles as a subscriber and then cancelled their subscription for whatever reason. Would they still have access to both, would they be limited to the one they had equipped when their subscription was cancelled, or would they be limited to the one they chose upon character creation?
Hi, the last time i was prefered i was stuck with the last one use! hope this help
I would have to test that since I'm preferred now.
Hey! That's actually part 2 coming up haha swtorista.com/articles/swtor-second-combat-style-guide/ Only subscribers have the option to swap their Combat Styles. Preferred players with two Combat Styles will be “stuck” with the last one they had chosen when they unsubscribed. Free-to-play and Preferred players can still change their Discipline.
@@Swtorista Good to know. Thanks :)
After being a day 1 player and leaving the game in 2016 to play ESO, I find these changes very confusing and not sure I am going to like them. Coming back for a bit…but between combat styles and changes to how you gear…I’m like a total newbie. Back in my day gear was done by boss drops and commendations. I have a lot to re-learn.
I wanna play tech class with melee weapon, like mando....
Bounty hunter with darksaber or techblade would be fun, but I can't equip any sword, just pistol...
I wish I can play tech class on force character, since I always feel from story standpoint playing non force character after Zakul Arc start didn't make any sense.
How hard is it to get the light5/dark5 achievements? If I wanted to play as a Jedi Shadow doing the Sith Warrior story, how hard would that be to get as a returning player that never got super far in the story the last time I played?
Basically I want to RP as a former Jedi Padawan who moved on from the order who wants to change the Empire from within. I also like the consular animations (rocks and such) over the lightning that the inquisitors have.
Babe wake up, new Academy episode dropped
@Swtorista What are the best class combat style combos?
Smashed Monkey LOVE IT!
So much info made my oonga boonga brain hurt haha love the vid tho I am loving playing the Bounty Hunter story with a sniper idk if feels cool 😎
my issue is debating what i want for my second combat style as a jedi knight im stuck between going like a sentinel or going like Jug cause jedi knight story chapter 2-3 which some stuff happens. i was even thinking of going maruader but cant stand the flailing animation it has with one of its abilites
Does this mean I can start as jedi Knight, choose sentinel, play dark side and swap sentinel to marauder if I wish and still have a second slot for another combat style ?
Ty for your video!!!)
I subbed and liked a lot the idea, but now im preferred im thinking it would be good to unlock the feature for new characters with cartel coins like many other stuff in game.
Wufff that's helpful 😳
What outfit are you wearing in the video. Been looking in the cartel store and can't see it? Thx
The black robed character - I think Exiled Master's Armor Set. The one my character is wearing, it is not a cartel armor, I'm not sure where to get it sorry.
Hey Swtorista, what setup would you recommend for someone who's physically impared? I can only manage about 5-6 buttons max and I really only play solo-content. Is there anything out there that's slower and dosen't require many abilities?
Hi all, I have not played since the game launched in 2011 and if I remember I had a lvl 50 Jedi Colsular/Sage which was the Max lvl at that time. It seems from the video that I can now use force lighting via choosing sorcerer as my combat style? I plan to play again and please let me know what I should do as a preferred account to get up to lvl 80? and what I should do to get all the good gear for a person re-joining.
Correct, you could choose Sorcerer as your second combat style.
You would first need to subscribe though.

I have a few questions:
l like the jedi knight sentinel that uses two lightsabers but I like the idea of using a double bladed lightsaber too.
how different would be a sentinel with two blades from one using a double blade?
there is a kind of attack on kotor 2 that I love that is when you jump from far away and falls on the enemy already attacking.
can I do that using two blades? can I do using a double blade??
the difference between jedi knight and jedi sage is that the first use more the lightsaber while the second use more the force?
is that possible to trow the lightsabers, simple or double blade, at the enemies and recover with the force?
is that possible to free player to play with a miraluka? (my favorite species...)
thanks
Lots of great questions- let me see what I can answer.
Yes, Sentinel (two lightsabers) can Force Leap to an opponent as an attack. Shadow (double bladed Lightsaber) uses Shadow Stride to teleport to an opponent.
Jedi Knight is actually a class storyline. The Jedi combat styles Sentinel and Guardian use lightsabers a lot, Jedi Sage combat style only uses
lightsaber for the animation to block attacks. Jedi Shadow combat style uses a mix.
Sentinels have Double Saber Throw attack (throwing two sabers), Guardians have a single Saber Throw attack, and I'm not sure about Shadows but I think they can also throw their double Saber.
@@zen1647 then if I made a knight/shadow instead of jumping I would attack with a teleport right?
but is there a "on/off switch" for the shadow abilities, like, for example, in a specific fight I want to fight as a jedi knight without any benefits of being a shadow or sentinel, can I do that?
@@andredfreitas6909 Just remember that knight is a class story, not a combat style. You can have two combat styles on a character. So your character could be following the Jedi Knight class story using Sentinel and Shadow combat styles.
If you're out of combat you can change whenever you like.
I looked for a video that explains me the crew skil biochem but did not find with the answers I wanted, so I will leave here my question because I also searched the net and did not understand very well.
I have the Biochem more Diplomacy and Bioanalysis but I can not create anything in Biochem, I have all the materials to create the Dielectric Cell Caft but production does not start, my biochem is in 1/600 and it does not increase the level because I can not create anything because it does not start the production, the level of my character is in 35 or 37, first I was told it was the level of my character but then I read somewhere that it was not mandatory to have the maximum level of the character to start creating things, is it a bug or is it something else ?
Can you make a video to show what is inside of the lockboxes on the big holohutt pvp vender, and on your site i saw itens like baron deathmark mask and other ranked weapons and sets can be obtainable, how can we get them?
Hey! Great question.

@@Swtorista Thankyou! The guide is amazing!
This makes me want to reinstall SWTOR even though I have no clue what’s going on lol.
Stuff.
I want my Jedi to have a blaster and a saber 😭
What is the armor in the thumbnail of your darkside corruption video? RUclips just randomly recommended it to me
I think that is Sinister Warrior but not sure
@@Swtorista oh ok ty
Certified first?
GG
I would pay 20$+ to be able to change 2nd combat style on my main.
How many months ago was this?
Another video from the series, -"I told you a hundred times, but I will tell you again".
Because there is nothing more to talk about in this game. 🤣
So free players can't get a second combat style?
nope :(
Combat styles take away from the uniqueness of the storys why didn't they just make a character creator instead
So a Jedi knight could use sorcerer as a combat style?
yep!
