Looks like another fun 690 adventure! The R40s look much better back there than the 80s, more room for activities :)

I think you have identified the 690/701’s proper role in the moto world. As much as I love my 500, the 690/701 is better suited to carrying gear. The extra wheelbase helps, as does the longer range. While many prefer the 890/901, it is more than most can manage for solo single track. I appreciate your videos and production quality. One concern of mine riding solo is the possibility of an unpleasant bear encounter. I surprised one yesterday, and fortunately it ambled off into the brush. I know you can’t legally carry an appropriate firearm where you live, so bear spray will just have to do.

We are on a bit of a run. App testing every day is a tough job.
That was not an intended difficulty level, but looking back, it was good training for someday that I am way out there and need to get down something nasty!
We gots to chat with you two. Can you just call me? I am overloaded with duties, but would love to hear from you.

Hey Scott. The 690 seems to be your weapon of choice so far this year. Just curious if the BMW is still around. Love your channel. Keep up the great work.

I got on the GS a couple of days ago and went for a 2 day on/orr road trip. Loved it! Came home, hopped on the 690, took a 10 minute adjustment period, loved it!
Thanks for the note! GS content is coming soon. It got a little spicy, but not too much. Just right!

Great video Scott! I'd like to see your R40 camping load out! I have a set of tgem and a 22 litre Stnger. For me camping usually involves an RV With. Fridge, shower and comfy bed, i have no idea where to start in building a moto camping kit.

Interesting. I appreciate the note. I have a few like this over the last week. People want to know how to moto camp. Perhaps the right gear for me? Comfort is so subjective. I planted trees in remote bush camps for a few summers so I may have very low standards, lol.

Yeah I can confirm that going up the backside of Hartnell to Becker. Before you get onto the FSR you go around that swampy area off Hartnell, my buddy tipped his 1190 adventure over there in the sticks and needed help picking it up lol. They’re cool but I’d rather have a 690 if I had to have a bike other than my 450 or a 300 xc.

Have you guys figured a way yet to bring the VORMC Becker trail map over to TMA. I use TMA exclusively for snowbiking and I would much rather use it for dirt too over Avenza

Hello Chris. We have! If you go to The GPS Exchange, filter the listing down to BC then you will see it near the end of page 2.
I am hopeful that by next year we can help all clubs update and maintain their maps by having riders simply turn on and record everywhere they ride in the network. Admins will be able to look at the traffic, see a heat map, and use some simple tools to enhance the master map. That would be so cool.

I used to be a big fan of Mosko stuff but it’s just too heavy with nothing in it, particularly for light ADV or whatever we’re calling putting luggage on single cylinder bikes. Take a look at the base weight of Green Chile adventure gear. You can also get some customer Wolfmann gear and you’ll be looking at a third the weight in your unloaded luggage. Mosko stuff is made from good materials (although, my most recent R40 had failing plastic buckles) but you pay a lot for that in weight.

Oh, thanks for the simulating thoughts! I am thinking about changing from my R80 to a rack-based system on my BMW. The R80 just does not fit that bike well. In doing my research I like their soft paniers, but they have these top duffle bags that look silly beefy, and unnecessarily heavy. I don't see the need for armour in a top roll. I love my lightweight Enduristan. I need to check out Wolfmann. I heard confusing stories about them trying to ramp up vs custom work. Definitely worth finding out more. Green Chile too. I have their winch thing that has been used in a couple of rescue missions. :) Cheers.
