That was because of the Castro revolution in Cuba, the ones that left were mostly those that had been allied to USA before and had been running a lot of things such as gambling, prostitution etc... that got banned after the revolution, it's often the way, a lot of Iranian exiles are Sunni for example because they were more likely to be persecuted after the Iranian revolution.
Im a Cuban American. At 5 I was a refugee. It has nothing to do with being allied with the USA. It has everything to do with the savagery of the communist regime. The dictatorial all encompassing regime. Your comment is not only insulting but ignorant. It dismisses the abuse and the pain of those of us who had to flee our nation because of bullies abusing their imagined power and brutalizing its people. That’s what communism is and does. That’s what socialism does. Cubans are conservatives because we were woke in the 50’s and were taken over by these monsters. We have made it our mission to not allow that to happen in the nations to which we have been disbanded to. Loyalty is a key Cuban culture attribute so our loyalty to the US in my case is too great to not protect her where I can. This comment you made is so infuriatingly insulting.
