- This 2006 documentary features Richard Johnston performing on Beale Street and several Alabama venues. Johnston is no longer in the music business and is enjoying life away from the spotlight.
His ferocious one-man-band performances captivated, amazed, and astounded audiences. Johnston played around the world, but his home stage was the sidewalk along Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. His outdoor shows there attracted larger audiences than the nightclubs lining both sides of the street.
Faaaaaaaaaaantastic!!!
Richard tell`s the absolutely truth, Hill Country Blues is World Music.
So beautifull seeing the different peoples dancing together in the street!!!
Thank you!
OMGoodness! I was revisiting this trailer and who pops up but my dear, departed friend Dennis Brooks. Brought me to happy tears. Thanks, Max... (and then there was Jessie Mae!). Oh, happy day with unexpected surprises!
I haven't seen or spoken with Richard in years. So happy to see this here, as well as other vids of him. I would very much like to be able to speak to him now. I suppose the best place to start is Beale Street, if he is still playing there. We're old friends. And I know he is one of THE BEST musicians I have EVER known. And certainly the best BLUESMAN. ~~Mandy~~
Hi everyone... It's be a decade since I had the pleasure of watching Richard in action.... Love his music.. Does he have a Facebook?
I don't think he is on Facebook anymore.
Are you ever going to release this to the oublic. I've been waiting 20 yrs! Lol. Where is Richard these days?
Where can i buy the DVD
If RL Burnside gave Richard the thumbs up...Well then I need to make my way down to Beal St....
Don, This documentary was shot years ago and Richard no longer plays on Beale Street.
Alrighty Richard Freaking Johnston! 😉THANKS! 😉 I'm YOU.
where can i find a schedule of his appearances? I live about 3 hrs. South of Memphis, so I cain't make a trip up on a whim.
Where can I find this documentary in full?!?
I would love for it to be seen more widely, perhaps here on RUclips. A while back Richard and I discussed releasing it here in conjunction with a livestream performance event but the pandemic has delayed that.
Shame this was never released
Isn't there any way to see him live any more?? I can't find a schedule anywhere
Honoka'a, Hawaii.
Pls name song 3:00
Richard calls the song, "Ten Miles Out of Town." I do not think he has released a recording of it.
