- The oscilloscope is an expensive device, It displays the change of an electrical signal over time, with voltage and time as the Y- and X-axes, respectively, on a calibrated scale. The waveform can then be analyzed for properties such as amplitude, frequency, rise time, time interval, distortion, and others. However, not everyone has enough money to buy it. Today, I will build an oscilloscope from my samsung android phone. I use 2 resistors 1K and 10K to form a 10: 1 voltage divider circuit. It helps the phone measure about 20V. With a maximum frequency 20Khz. Be careful, High voltage can damage your phone. I will not be responsible for any damage.

All my projects are free, I design them on EAGLE 6.0. I uploaded it to Google drive. You need to use a web browser to download the file and open the file with winrar software (extract) on the PC. Open schematic file (.SCH) and PCB file (.BRD) with EAGLE software.

Upper freq of bandwidth is about 20 khz and I suppose lower freq is not 0hz, so, to what frequency value can the non-continuous AC signal drop?

Question, the oscilloscope test is performed on a transformer. But it is AC that voltage and current is measuring. I do not think that a few simple resistors attenuate the current and voltage would burn the phone
Based on the diagram it is connected to a microphone pin of a jack. And a microphone produce an AC signal thats why it reads ac mains which is 50hz or 60hz and it is inside the audio frequency spectrum. I think he uses low power transformer maybe thats why it only have a maximum of 20V, I just don't know if it is peak-peak or peak-zero point.

Use a Bluetooth mic
The app looks good, but it was a bit worrying how you demo with a live transformer and loose wires dangling around that almost were going to short out if you didn't push them apart. This is why i prefer to work only with low voltages and don't open up transformers - personally, stay safe!

Bdw is it possible to check the microcontroller pulses around 3-5V with the same resistance value or should I use resistors of lower value...?
At 12'02" and at 12'28" why frequency displayed on phone is 100Hz instead of 50 Hz (AC power line) as on the oscilloscope ?

@@CreativeHRM see what ? The frequency on phone is wrong probably due to a bug in AR Oscilloscope application. Sometimes, the horizontal time base works badly.
Maybe it’s measuring the positive and negative peaks? I am not familiar with these cheap scope apps
@@kwhp1507 such a case would be to ignore what a frequency is. I would rather look for a big bug in the management of the time base.

Did you noticed that your application setting was bluetooth one and was disconnected too so is it possible to do so without turning it to microphone mode. You are playing the demo one.

It is bealtiful . That´s very good. But here in my country the imports they bring from China are not even good for exchange. Only the old components are reliable.
replace 1k with 10k, 10k with 500k and add another 500k between ground wire and headphone jack and voila! you can measure mains voltage.
I don't think that is a good idea. Just a small mistake will destroy your phone.

The 1K resistor is getting Super hot at 12v 1A. Can I use only the 10K resistor?
1k , 12v 1A ,
12V÷1000 ohm= 0.012A ,
its only 12mA
12V× 0.012A = 0.144W.
The 1K resistor will not super hot, I think

It work, i use It with a 1k-100k resistor to increase the voltage input, i use It for audio purpose but It work.
If i use 100k e 1k resistor can i test 230v AC 50hz directly?

@@PhdHung did you test it for higher frequencies.. non audible frequencies.. 100 khz for instance... because the electronics inside may handle higher frequencies... thanks again... i'm interested in making one like this...
I belived it depends on phone's DAC, the better one like in VIVO model would surely be able to handle higher freq while the low n mid ranges phones would only be able to handle standard audio freq (20hz-29khz) unless u r lucky when yr phone manufacturer used better DAC but try at yr own risk thou.... 😜

Hello, u can make power supply 12v dc to +- 75 volt 20-30 amp constant voltage with ferrit core ee55 (55-28-21) i need to make this supply for my power amplifier 1200 watt output in bridge 8 ohm with final transistor mjw21196-mjw21195 28 pcs.

Im traying to make with that transformer ee55 with your driver circuit sg3525 but i dont know the primary turns for input 12v dc push pull circuit.

Why at minute 2:07 the frequency of the tested network signal is not 50 or 60 hz but 100hz then it passes to 500 and finally to 51?

how can I raise the maximum voltage to 220 volt?, what resistor should I use? how about 1K and 200K resistor?
I don't think that is a good idea. Just a small mistake will destroy your phone.
You can try using probe x100 it will attenuate the signal drastically yet as the author of this demonstration said: it might not be a good idea putting your phone on the line here.
Also I take no responsibility if you destroy your device or hurt yourself if you follow suit whatsoever.
Why not use a 220 to 12v transformer for the same

@@ronen124 calibrate it on a printed chart for accuracy and question was for 220 volt, I.e. in india , generally 220v is asked as 220v AC for which transformer is safe to use in practice...

The maximum voltage that can be measured is 20v. It cannot measure the waveform of a 220V grid. So I use transformer 220V to 12V.

the Diode protect the circuit from small electric amounts but i think that 5v or more for some seconds can seriously damage it then damage the other components

After plug in with 2 resistors. The phone still using internal mic as cannot detect the external mic (plug in with 2 resistors)
What do you use your phone?. My phone uses an external Microphone.

I too had the same issue, but I figured out that, for mobile to switch to external microphone, the impedance should be in specific range i.e, about ( 1k - 1.5k) but the value may differ with different mobiles. For me, 1k didn't working but 2k worked. (2/12 ratio). Thankyou.

@@lawalmohammed83 Sorry for late response, (Corona virus visited here!), Samsung A10 - inexpensive phone from TracFone service). Before that I also tried it on other phones from TracFone, like Motorola, LG and some others I can't remember the name.
