I think it’s important to remember that the limitations of the existent equipment of 1956 simply wouldn’t capture the depth of the lived audible experience at the time. Elvis truly rocked the world. Those of us who weren’t there can’t really grasp it. Once upon a time in the mid to late 1990s, when I was not much older than Elvis was in this video, I worked with an older lady with whom I, for some reason, embarked upon a conversation about Elvis. She told me that when she was a young teenager she’d gone to a fair to the see the musical acts, as one did at the time in the South. She couldn’t remember who she’d actually intended to see that day because a handsome young man with a funny name had been the opening act. That was of course was a young, barely famous, Elvis Presley. She herself had never heard of him but from the moment he took the stage she was a fan. After Elvis, she said, it didn’t matter who else performed. It’s been a long time since that conversation and I forget some of the exact details, but she used one phrase that is burned on my memory. Seeing a young Elvis Presley perform live, she said, “It was like somebody spilled lightening on that stage”.

She didn’t really know much about him but her friend was really excited about it and invited her to go. She said the show was really exciting and that her friend even got to go back stage and “kiss” Elvis. Now that I’m a little older, I know what she meant lol 😂

I too had parents that loved Elvis and for a time when I was young I would sing Elvis songs with my father but along the way I got into modern music which at the time I thought was great, it wasn't until I got older that I realized the gift that Elvis gave to us all, I now treasure the times my father and I would play Elvis records and sing them together R.I.P. He had it all man! No one could even come close to what Elvis did. God gave him to us then took him back too soon. Sad but grateful to have known who he was and experience what he gave us. Long live the King of Rock and Roll!
@@gtamediaproductions1 the only thing he had was skin color. Lol all his songs are ripoffs of black artist who were better. Elvis is simply a product of his era. A product of racism. Sure the girls liked him and the guys thought he was cool, but he was a gimmick. He was a tool to bring black music to white America. Just the facts.
Great footage of the King of rock and roll. The Presley's were treated like royalty when Elvis returned to his hometown. They honored Elvis with a parade and rolled out the red carpet for Elvis, his Mother and Father. The Presley's were never looked down on again. EP is still the best entertainer of all time.
🔥 Get ready to be blown away, everyone! Just experienced the legendary Elvis in 1956, and let me tell you, it was like a seismic eruption of pure rock and roll energy! The way he dominated that stage and ignited the crowd was nothing short of mesmerizing. Elvis’s voice from the 1954 to 1977 was so clean pure power. Elvis always worked hard to be the best, Here we see him getting into finding his style with a strong use of vibrato. His dance moves are like poetry in motion...

Same here. I'm 34 and always associated Elvis with Vegas. Didn't really know much more about him besides that. The movie made me fan of him. He was much more than just a Vegas entertainer. I feel bad for him and how his life ended. Smh. 😢
I grew up watching some of his movies but had no idea that he made 31. I'm spending the month watching a movie a day. So far I've watched 20. My favorites so far: King Creole Loving You The Trouble with Girls It Happened at the World's Fair Kurt Russell is the kid that kicks Elvis.
@@SilverGram I've watched all of his films 2-3x now. Aside from your pics my favorites are Jailhouse Rock, Flaming Star, Wild in the Country, Kid Galahad, Roustabout, Fun in Acapulco, Charro, Live A Little Love A Little, and Girls Girls Girls

He so calmly said hi to that girl that hopped on stage. Oh ye Gods, he was EVERYTHING! And the memory that girl had of jumping on stage right up next to Elvis *swoon* and the telling of that moment, man!
Thank you to the Elvis fan who uploaded this wonderfully entertaining video. I wasn't around in the fifties, but I enjoyed all the great music he created in the 60s and 70s. Elvis had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold and was taken away from us far too soon. Rest in peace, Mr. Presley.
How the band members looks at Elvis and smiles they were besides themselves...it's Dec 2020 64 yrs ago, Elvis is even more famous today....what a gem Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
The thing that got me about his early, more rockabilly sound, days when live, was how hilarious he and the guys found it. And the way he found it so funny when the waves of screams ran through the girls when he'd do a wiggle. Absolutely solid little band.
IF THERE ARE BETTER SINGERS THAN ELVIS, HOW COME AS A SOLO PERFORMER HE ALONE HAS SOLD MORE THAN ONE BILLION RECORDS WORLD WIDE, HOW COME HE REVOLUTIONIZED SO MUCH NOT ONLY THE AMERICAN CULTURE, BUT BECAME A WORLD WIDE PHENOMENON , HOW COME HE IS THE SOLO ARTIST WITH THE MOST NUMBER ONES, TOP TENS AND TOP FORTIES. IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA EVEN THE NATIVE INDIANS STILL KNOW WHO ELVIS PRESLEY WAS. HEARING THE TESTIMONIES OF SO MANY GREAT ARTISTS LIKE THE BEATLES, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, ETC.., THEY BECAME WHAT THEY ARE BECAUSE OF ELVIS. BACK THEN IN THE MID FIFTIES YOU HAD TO REALLY SWEAT TO BECOME SOMEBODY. TV WAS NOT AS MODERN AS THEY ARE NOW, HE HAD TO ROCK AND ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S. AND MADE HIS MUSIC MORE THAN A FAD, IT BECAME NOT ONLY AND AMERICAN TRADITION BUT A WORLDWIDE TRADITION. STILL THE MAGAZINE ROLLING STONES CONSIDER ELVIS ONE OF THE TOP FIVE BEST VOICES. HE IS THE ONLY ARTIST IN THE ROCK AND ROLL, COUNTRY, GOSPEL, R&B HALL OF FAME. HE BECAME THE POINT OF REFERENCE FOR ANY ARTIST. HOW COME AFTER SO MANY YEARS THEY STILL CALL HIM THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL OR THE KING OF LAS VEGAS? WITH ALL DUE RESPECT PEOPLE THAT TALK ABOUT ELVIS THAT WAY SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH.

The fact Elvis was just 'having a laugh' through this performance, makes the whole experience feel that much greater. You can see in the crowd, not the fans but the 'grown ups / authorities etc, they seem to all get it too (from their smiles etc). That 'don't take it to seriously' vibe, that Elvis eludes during his early performance :)
The 'authorities' were there to bust Elvis if he shook his pelvis too provocatively.... lewd in the 50's. Bit of a long way we've come to get to WAP.... key-ripes. cheers
@@wreckcelsior Ironically, given the strong exualisation of the young today (and society generally) and the slip in IQ/education. They might have had something with that whiole Lewd thing (leading to a decent). The jury is still out though ...which type of society is better :)
Elvis was the greatest entertainer that ever lived. It is great to see him in fine form. His mother actually made the nice shirt that he is wearing. RIP my brother and we will see you down the road. TCB
It's so strange how out of probably hundreds of thousands of guitar players singing on stage Elvis still looks like the best, as if he was born to be doing that on stage!!
Elvis was the greatest singer and entertainer on Planet Earth. It’s now 2021 and it will be 100’s of years from now and Elvis will still be the best no matter what. His voice got better with age so smooth and beautiful. Never to be forgotten. Love you Elvis!❤️🎼🎼❤️
GREAT footage from an early Elvis!! I was only 6 years old in '56 and didn't know much about Elvis then! When I was in junior high school me and a friend went to see *Blue Hawaii* and *It Happened At The World's Fair*. . .Bought those albums and still have them now!! We were in Vegas Dec '76, Elvis was there but my late husband wouldn't take me him!!
I'm a couple of years younger than you are. But oh to have been born late! I sure wish I hadn't missed the 50's! I wish I could have captured the heart and been married to the man I loved from mom's era. He had/has my heart forever. RIP Glen and thank you for all the years of love and happiness we shared...even though I could never truly compete with my mother that you always loved more than any other. You said I was born for you. I was. See you and our child I lost in Heaven soon.
No man living nor dead could be as handsome and totally lovable as he- there were grandmothers in the crowd standing and clapping- his enigma transcended generations as natural as water flows. .he was truly kissed by the sun. .🌞
You don't know what you just did. I had a BIG SMILE on my face the entire time I watched that black & white film. Thank you, thank you very much! Born too late: Loved Elvis. Always will.
These must've been difficult performances for Elvis and the band, these were times before in-ear monitors, meaning the band couldn't hear each other over the loud screams of women. You can see Elvis closing one ear to make sure he's on key and on tempo with the band. Still knocked it out of the park. Elvis has been and will forever be in my top 5 artists of all time!
Watching this early footage of Elvis reminds us that he was the complete package- the pipes, the presence, the look. Even at a young age he knew this new Rock 'n Roll was about showmanship as much as the music, and wow did he put on a show. The first and Greatest Rock 'n Roll Star.
This I think is the greatest performance by Elvis I have ever seen. In the town of his birth, it captured the raw energy and spirit of his youth and the energy and spirit of his audience. The girl walking up to him on stage during Don't be Cruel has to be the epitome of the entire Elvis phenomenon.
I can remember standing in my mother's room as we heard on the radio he was gone, i was only 10, but we both cried, maybe me as much because mom was than over him, but i felt the gravity of it, and was a fan, I can see it like yesterday. Even now it chokes me up. Very few ppl through history moved as many so much.
Such gigantic natural talent and so effortless! Vocals and everything, right there. No voice enhancement electronics needed or available in 1956. Amazing! כל הכבוד,אלביס
In 1956 i was 13 years old. Have loved the gorgeous awesome Evis all my life. When i first heard his voice and then saw a picture of him I was smitten. I am 80 now and still love him. 💓🧸🎸🎵🎤
I have to hand it to the person who edited this video. Excellent job. The best treatment yet. All the tracks in perfect sync. The original vocals to the original video. Only Hollywood can do better. Excellent. It's as close as you can get to being there.
Why exactly why he considered obscene? Excuse my ignorance, but being a child of the 70s, I couldn't understand why Elvis' gyrations were controversial.
I have been told so by many people in all my life who enjoyed watching him perform on stage, he was pure electric by look and his voice was like honey dipping from honeycomb naturally

For the times it must have been extrodinary as he was the first mega star in the history of man kind, never before had the world seen anything like the great Elvis Aron Presley
It’s so sweet how he gets shy when the girl invades the stage! It’s possible to see that when he looks more to his band then to the audience. But it’s also amazing the way those choir guys look at him, he just magnetized everyone
I had seen stills from this performance but wasn't aware film cameras were rolling. This is really great to see. He was a great performer. I like hearing him giggle at the screaming girls.
My love for Elvis is insatiable. A unique, pioneering talent. On stage you got authenticity unseen today. Not to mention his intoxicatingly good looks.
THAT WAS HISTORY IN THE MAKING/ IT WAS GREAT EVEN WITH THE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE THEN. NOTICE THE "SPEAKERS" HIS STAGE PRESCENCE PLUS THE VOICE WAS ALL THAT REALLY WAS NEEDED. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS TREASURE!
Elvis at his best having some fun with the crowd. Please to be able to finally see him at work. Young and energetic, learning his craft, already a master . Truly phenomenal. The animal magnetism that emanates from him his mesmerizing. Thanks for sharing.
These people were watching Elvis make history. He was so extraordinary, there’s never been anything like it. The first entertainer to experience this reaction from an audience. How wild. What A MAN he was. As a woman, you can’t help but think of all the things you’d do to him privately❤️
Women screamed, went wild, and feinted at performances by the violinist Niccolo Paganini in the early 1800s and at performances by the pianist Franz Liszt a few decades after Paganini. Liszt's fame was enormous. He packed concert halls across Europe and people, especially women, went wild. Many people wrote about it at the time criticizing both Liszt and his female admirers for behaving inappropriately. They even coined the term "Lisztmania" to describe the phenomenon. The same phrase would be used a century later to describe the same phenomenon with Beatlemania. People don't really change. I bet you could go back 20,000 years and find some caveman whose singing made the cave ladies swoon.
This was so awesome to see, never seen all this footage just bits and pieces of this 56 fairgrounds show over the years. You tube is the best. I’m 60 years old and I’m from Switzerland (Lucerne), I’ve been listening to Elvis since I was 10 years old, I watched Elvis' live concert in Hawaii in 1973. I appreciate many kinds of good music, I also know all the songs of Johnny Cash and June Carter (Great) and other great artists. However, Elvis remains the greatest musician and entertainer of all time, but in all his songs, all the power of his soul comes out. One could also say that he gave his whole heart to his listeners. This way is definitely unique and I think it will remain so. Denis Herger

My Mom loved this guy but I didn’t get it. I sure do now! You can try and compare Elvis Presley to anyone today and he beats them all in pure raw talent, charisma and personality. Damn!
Elvis and R.I.P. to My father Gary W Moulthrop. SR. I love you forever dad
You did not get it?? Did you see how the girls reacted? That tells you everything.
Jagger
He had it all man! No one could even come close to what Elvis did. God gave him to us then took him back too soon. Sad but grateful to have known who he was and experience what he gave us.
Long live the King of Rock and Roll!
@@gtamediaproductions1 the only thing he had was skin color. Lol all his songs are ripoffs of black artist who were better. Elvis is simply a product of his era. A product of racism. Sure the girls liked him and the guys thought he was cool, but he was a gimmick. He was a tool to bring black music to white America. Just the facts.
I really liked that he didn't take himself too seriously...he was having FUN up there!
+TheIrishrogue68 That's right. He wasn't the least bit conceited, even with all that adulation from girls. It never went to his head.
TheIrishrogue68 that's how rebels rule Jack!
He always had such fun doing live shows. You can see it in his face and in his actions.
Thanks!
Elvis fearlessly broke the rules, fusing different styles into a musical revolution that still reverberates today. His impact on the world of music is immeasurable. Let's keep the spirit of the King alive and rocking for generations to come! 🕺🎸💥
That's authentic pure music and entertainment. No ridiculous frills and exposed body parts. Still watching in 2024.
Thousands of years in the future there will still be Elvis fans. Elvis was art personified, and a first class guy.

Elvis’s voice from the 1954 to 1977 was so clean pure power. Elvis always worked hard to be the best, Here we see him getting into finding his style with a strong use of vibrato.
His dance moves are like poetry in

There will never be another man who can do what Elvis did. He’s the best…the absolute best man to walk the planet.
Very true!!!!❤❤❤❤

Well the only man other than Jesus...And he gave all the credit to our LORD!
I'm 37, watched the Elvis movie and was blown away sobbing like a baby, I'm starting to sob now just remembering how just great someone can actually be and touch so many hearts including mine and 30 something years later I'm watching every RUclips clip I can about the man... His last performance, like all, he sang with all his heart... As he always did....r.i.p. king 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑 😭❤️
Same with me became a fan after the film. Have ready 15 books on him and watched all his movies, docs and interviews of and with him, his performances and concerts, listen to his music. So obsessed now
My favorites so far:
King Creole
Loving You
The Trouble with Girls
It Happened at the World's Fair Kurt Russell is the kid that kicks Elvis.
Am a fan for 65 yrs - watching Elvis movies always makes me feel that I am also there in his scenes. And when it ends I am sad - it could go on forever. What a handsome charming man!
I've always loved how tickled he got over the audience screaming at him . He was so humble and always thankful for his fans
He so calmly said hi to that girl that hopped on stage. Oh ye Gods, he was EVERYTHING! And the memory that girl had of jumping on stage right up next to Elvis *swoon* and the telling of that moment, man!
This is what I appreciate most about Elvis. He was so down to Earth. I really liked how he said, "Hi." to her.
Presley.
Elvis took a quantum leap into coolness, no one can keep up with him, not even today! Pretty amazing.
Men aren't willing to be vulnerable and don't have the guts or natural rhythm to dance like Elvis. That's what made girls scream like that.
I am so thankful that I can see Elvis in his pure original state in this video. Thank you for posting this and for keeping it up.
Elvis was just cool. He had it all, he could sing, play, dance, and entertain. Oh and he was a very good looking guy. The total package.
You got that right. He was super cool. We loved him here in South Africa and still enjoy his music today.
Well said..from Spain... siempre Elvis Aron Presley..
For sure. Especially at that time, to be like that was unusual

Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
Hello Beth, How are you doing?
The thing that got me about his early, more rockabilly sound, days when live, was how hilarious he and the guys found it.
And the way he found it so funny when the waves of screams ran through the girls when he'd do a wiggle.
Absolutely solid little band.
Theres nothing like Elvis - especially by today's standards he is way beyond anything comprehensible.
Now this is priceless footage from 1956!
I love his laugh. He was definitely God’s gift to the world. He is deeply and sorely missed.
God has given more substantial "gifts" to mankind than this, believe me!
No one will ever come close to filling this mans shoes. Elvis is the greatest voice ever.
u must have lead a very sheltered life, cos there are lots of better singers than elvis , u need to get out more
Keep in mind that people these days consider Eminem and Jay-Z to be singers. So we must be sympathetic to the pathetic.
THAT'S YOUR PERCEPTION BUT AS WE ALL KNOW PERCEPTION AND REALITY ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS!
you are a nut
Great footage! I saw Elvis at the Boston Garden in 1971 & all I can say is that he was electric. His voice was awesome & charisma was off the charts.
i was born in 1996 and Elvis is one of the gratest artist...you are so lucky !!!
I was blessed as well to see him perform live in 1976 &77. Wow. This little girl fell in love!! Amazing voice, charisma ,presence like no other! The first one was outstanding second he was very sick. I remember the first -he became My first love ❤️

Bit of a long way we've come to get to WAP.... key-ripes.

Absolutely astounding that they not only have video of this but audio as well.
“Talkies” started in the early 1930’s, so having film with sound recorded at the same time was old hat by this time.
I wonder what all the millions of people who watched TV and went to the cinema in the 1950s would have thought about your comment
Elvis was the greatest entertainer that ever lived. It is great to see him in fine form. His mother actually made the nice shirt that he is wearing. RIP my brother and we will see you down the road. TCB
Drums, 2 guitars and a Bass fiddle and the greatest voice to ever sing a song...Real Music...
It's so strange how out of probably hundreds of thousands of guitar players singing on stage Elvis still looks like the best, as if he was born to be doing that on stage!!
The truly great ones make it all look so easy, so natural.

No early he sang in a much higher key
GREAT footage from an early Elvis!! I was only 6 years old in '56 and didn't know much about Elvis then! When I was in junior high school me and a friend went to see *Blue Hawaii* and *It Happened At The World's Fair*. . .Bought those albums and still have them now!! We were in Vegas Dec '76, Elvis was there but my late husband wouldn't take me him!!
I was born 10 year after this, I'm crying, Thank's mum and dad for listening and loving Elvis, my life will always have a nice place to go..xx
I'm a couple of years younger than you are. But oh to have been born late! I sure wish I hadn't missed the 50's!
Yes, this is absolutely fantastic! Fortunately this had been recorded.
This is the closest some of us will get to actually being there to see the King, performing on that day, great video.
This Man changed the world , he's the greatest of all times !!

Why exactly why he considered obscene? Excuse my ignorance, but being a child of the 70s, I couldn't understand why Elvis' gyrations were controversial.
@@sharonjensen3016 right?? he was only considered “obscene” by jealous people. He had it all (at the time) and they didn’t and never would.

Steady on Jess…I WAS THERE IN THE 50s and 60s I played his music but I was never very keen on watching him. And screaming at singers was not my thing…
