Sam, the gentle and loving manner you give the horses is heartwarming--no wonder they always seem to like you. Tom, love the way you say "see 'ya" in the closing of the videos--just like a gangsta rapper! 😊
No one trims a hoof like Sam! My favorite part is the frog and how perfect he trims it. So many things then to consider as well as the process for the older horse. Wonderful episode.
Our senior animals deserve all the gentle love we can give them. Thank you Sam for the respect and loving care you give all the beautiful horses, from the tiniest to the largest ones, from the youngest ones to the oldest ones ❤❤❤
You are a special person. I bet your horse clients love seeing you. 😊 You give the horses pats and scratches and loving words. Youre a good man Sam. I appreciate what you do for these animals, I have loved horses my whole life. 👏👏🙏♥️ I'm so glad you're training another good lad to do this. 😁
Tom is learning more than just how to be a farrier from you. He is learning all about how to treat a horse, how to calm it, how to be gentle and compassionate and loving, and how to make it feel like. The whole shoeing process is a positive experience. You are a very good influence on him and a great role model, but most of all I think a good friend.❤❤❤🙌🏻
Great video! Your work is really fascinating. I really appreciate the explanations you give while you work... the final result of the hoof is splendid.♥🐎💯
I'm in the process of saving up for farrier school here in the US. You videos are fascinating and informative, and I appreciate what you do! Thank you!
Don’t they have farrier apprenticeships in the US? I would’ve assume learning to become a farrier would involve becoming a paid apprentice for 4 years that would have included going to tech one day or evening a week.
@@mickvonbornemann3824 In the US, there are no regulations on becoming a farrier unfortunately. Any joe shmo can buy some nippers and a rasp and call himself a farrier...however, most good farriers suggest doing a 12wk, 26wk, or 36wk farrier school and then doing at least 1 year apprenticing under a farrier. We do have certifications in the US which lend weight to your name in the industry, but they are not required by law.
It’s shocking to me how many horse owners down there do not pick out their horses hooves BEFORE the farrier comes?? So they’re all nice and clean and ready for them. ESPECIALLY the ones that are coming straight from extremely wet, muddy fields in winter time. Not talking about this one in particular but on some of the other videos when they’ve been much worse. Up here in Scotland I don’t know any horse owner that DOESNT do that for their farrier. For anyone saying “that’s their job”…no it’s not really, their job is to trim the feet/replace shoes etc. And even if it WAS their job, it’s just good manners to have your horses feet already picked out ready for the farrier. 🤷🏼♀️🏴 I find it even more crazy when Sam and Tom are expected to go and CATCH the horse from a field! Like whaat?! Your horses should be ready and waiting for the farrier. I know Sam is so lovely and probably says he doesn’t mind but it’s not the point. A farrier should not have to go and catch any horse to bring them in to trim or shoe. But then that’s just my opinion and maybe I’m on my own on that. 🤷🏼♀️ Another great video Sam 😊 So happy to see how well this channel is doing. You deserve every bit of it. I’m always surprised by the colour of the hooves and frogs. Where in the US I am they tend not to get so dark blackish. I guess it’s from the moisture in the soil (and soil pH)? You have a lovely manner with horses.
Everyone loves a good "Before and After". I'm still working on the accents- sometimes when you say horse it sounds like ass. In one video, you said "she's a big horse" and I'm thinking- who's a big ass? I had to do a playback to be sure I didn't miss something. I always love seeing what the lads are up to, and I really like the step-by-step commentary- you tell us what you are doing and always mention why you are doing it as well.
Does a horse feel the difference after a regular (no special problem) change of shoes? I guess I'm asking, are they like humans with a new pair of shoes, do they need a couple of days to break them in?

😂😂😂😂
Gorgeous ❤❤❤❤
I’m always surprised by the colour of the hooves and frogs. Where in the US I am they tend not to get so dark blackish. I guess it’s from the moisture in the soil (and soil pH)?
You have a lovely manner with horses.
Louie is a beautiful old boy ❤
Another Awesome Video ❤❤ xx
Everyone loves a good "Before and After". I'm still working on the accents- sometimes when you say horse it sounds like ass. In one video, you said "she's a big horse" and I'm thinking- who's a big ass? I had to do a playback to be sure I didn't miss something. I always love seeing what the lads are up to, and I really like the step-by-step commentary- you tell us what you are doing and always mention why you are doing it as well.
Turning on your CC may help 😊
Love your videos and Tom would be no good where I work. I start at 630am and you have to be awake then
Brilliant ❤❤
Your hands... they look exactly like my hands. Nail shape and all. You could be my brother... the resemblance in uncanny.
Waaay to serious today,,,Tom didnt say a word!
Does a horse feel the difference after a regular (no special problem) change of shoes? I guess I'm asking, are they like humans with a new pair of shoes, do they need a couple of days to break them in?
When you treadmill, mate? How long you jog/walk/run for?
