Backhoe a deeper hole for swimming.... put in a small dam on the output of the swimming hole, then put a water turbine on that output to provide a little power for lights and other things. Run the turbine into a small bank of LiPO4 batteries and you could even run an inverter for a short time with 120VAC power. Good luck with the property!

That hole will fill up with sand, plus DEP would not like the wetlands disturbed, but move 50’ away and dig a hole and pump water into it, use a pond liner so it don’t cloud up real bad

Have fun guys, it's a once in a lifetime experience. Wetlands are protected by both federal and state laws, and in some cases, county and municipal agencies. They must remain in their natural condition. Section 404 of the Clean Water Act regulates wetlands and requires that a Section 404 permit be obtained before conducting any activity that would discharge, dredge, or fill materials into U.S. waters. Under Florida law, exemptions for agricultural and silvicultural activities can be found in Chapter 373 and Chapter 403 of the Florida Statutes. You must get permission and obtain applicable permits from your local regulating agency if you plan to dredge, fill, or cut any vegetation in a wetland.

    Congratulations Abby, and Adam!
My wife and I did the same thing in 1993.
After almost 30 years working on our property I have a fair amount of experience. For the area around the creek, look into all of the new forestry mulching. All of that small stuff can get ground up and cleared in just a few days.
You may have to dig up those palmettos and move them to a safe place until you get that area cleared.
This property presents an entire new avenue for and your channel. I would like to see you purchase some used heavy equipment (Dozer, track how, tractor) and feature repairing that equipment to use on your property. A large pole barn with a bandsaw mill, and the list goes on. Good luck to you. I look forward to following your success!

Eastern box turtles have strict territories and never choose floody land. Golden garden spiders are very docile and harmless to people. Wow, your creek is awesome.

A little advice on the driveway and utilities, put your house towards the middle of the sight. I know it costs more because of the additional length for driveway and utilities, but you’ll be so much happier once you have your house and you’ll get the extra cost back in spades in resale value.

Congratulations, there is a bunch of work ahead but it will be worth it. If you can as drone view would give you a lot of insite of where to build. Keep on smiling.

Eastern box turtle. If someone asks, you never saw any. They may not allow a building permit in turtle habitats. Also get a geological survey done. You don't want to have any sinkholes.
