I was considering a rough neck, but went with the legacy because it can do everything the rough neck can do and so much more. And mine was also delivered stove in. There's no room over the lid or packing material. But I ended up getting a new one and the shipping company didn't want the damaged one back. Glad they damaged it!
I had a 55 gallon drum turned into the firebox for a cold smoker, From the drum to the food cabinet was 15 feet of 4" exhaust duct. The purpose of cold smoking is to keep the heat away from the food. It's not cooking, only flavoring. I smoked ribs, hams (using apricot wood), cheese, turkey, ducks and some salmon. Congratulations on your venture into smoked foods. And I'll close as I close all my words to Lyle P. -- I flunked Shop and got an A in HomeEc.😀
I got a legacy delivered with a huge dent in the lid. I got a new one shipped to me and the trucking company didn't want the damaged one. So I got 2 for the price of one! Only used the replacement once, pounded out the dented one and use it probably 3 times a week. Thanks Estes!
As a sheet metal worker/ steel fabricator, I really appreciate the quality and attention to detail of these pits. I might get rid of all my other grills. Hasty Bake is king!
Just a note. The rough neck was a collaboration with Kent Rollins and Hasty Bake. He has a lot of videos on the smoker and recipes. Go check them out also along with this channel. Both great channels.
I think the most important thing to consider while doing a “BURN IN” … is the adhesive residue from the Laser Film ( the white stretchy film ) or what us old timers would call “Contact Paper “. Since just about everything is Laser Cut today in manufacturing…. It’s something to consider with ANY metal food handling equipment
I’ve got the 75th anniversary coffin top and it’s a hybrid of the Legacy and Suburban and the appearance is very similar to this RN smoker, love it… the one thing I like about this RN is the LARGE intake vents, my only complaint of my coffin top(and I’ve heard similar complaints of Legacy users) is that the intake vent holes are too small and when I close the top the fire really embers down. Overall love HB and super stoked for you, beautiful unit!
Should do a how to of lighting your charcoal briquettes for each of you bbq apparatus, so how you load and light your charcoals for each of your units, I know you use your Weber rapid fire charcoal chimney but how you load your units would be interesting and if you use a different lighting method occasionally, you could use different cuts in different bbqs and assess performance on those different cuts Continued Success Fabrizio
Thanks for the informative video. I've had my eye on HB cookers for a bit and this one looks just about perfect for me. I really like the flexibility with the various configurations. I'm looking forward to more videos from this one.
I got to get one. Love the fact that you can smoke, grill and hang meat all in one. Is there a discount for driving and picking one. I have watched Kent cook on his old one a lot. Great video and go USA made.
I’m surprised they didn’t give u the slide in diffuser helps to keep it lower temps and good smoke tickle… Your going to love the RN. I stopped using my SS drums
Great job on the ribs! I have the corten steel Kent Rollins edition. I believe the latch for the top is more about using that front handle to move it or lift it. Not necessary to close that latch for grilling or smoking or direct heat BBQ.
Looks like what we used to call a “smudge pot,” which was a metal kettle kind of thing with tar or something like it inside, and it just burned out the spout for hours and hours, used before electric lights were portable and easy to use. Also kept mosquitoes away. Google it: Smudge Pots. That is how old I am…………….
How does this differ from the Pit Barrel? I have a pit barrel X, Kamado Joe classic 3 and JR, RecTec 680 and other kettels. I like to play with new cookers as a hobbiest. But I like to justify them to myself and of corse my wife ;) . Great video by the way.
Congratulations on the new smoker. That thing is nice . Hey Adam, I'm curious where did you get that citronella Lantern at? I've been looking all over Amazon for that exact one that you have, But I can't find that one👍🏻🇺🇲
I don't know that I would put all the blame on the freight companies if the product needs handled with kid gloves perhaps the packaging needs to better protect the product. The end result of fixing the problem will be passed onto the consumer no matter if it requires better packaging or a different shipper. Sounds like it is a common and repeated problem so I would vote for better packaging. What is the chance you could get another lid sent undamaged?
I think it can hit higher temperatures. It's a different configuration and style of usage. If you bought a wsm , enjoy it. I just purchased a roughneck and will be receiving it this week. I love the ability to roll it around and the finish the corten steel patina's to.
I’ve got to stop watching your channel. If I keep watching I’m going to end up buying a HB. I don’t need another grill/smoker. I got way too many. I am really impressed with the Hasty Bake however. If you could only have one HB which one would it be? I know it will be hard for you to say right now since this was your first cook on the Roughneck.

Ribs like that it's understandable to "bite off more than you can chew"... LOL 🙂

I’m totally having a complete barbecue fantasy! Great job on this video!
Awesome! Thank you!
Yo never talk about your property and it's progress. Any update? 🙂
Smokin 10lbs of full wings tomorrow on my Silverback.... Oh La La!!! Salt, pepper, baking powder is the secret!!
Great video. Wonderful camerawork as well.
You could put a brisket, slab of pork ribs, chicken fryers and bratwurst all at once, I like the square top, real nice smoker/grill
Just a note. The rough neck was a collaboration with Kent Rollins and Hasty Bake. He has a lot of videos on the smoker and recipes. Go check them out also along with this channel. Both great channels.

Glad it was helpful! We’ll be making more cook video using the RN this summer.
Looks great. Can't wait to make those again.
I’ve been waiting for this one!

I decently need to check into this - looks amazing ! !
What is the contraption in the background with the fire coming out of it? I saw it on a previous video as well - thanks.

Its called a yellow dog. At night it looks like a yellow eyed dog. They were used in the early days in the oilfields for light.
So the heat deflector is just an extra piece they give you to lean against the wall? :)

With all of the new HB what are your plans for the Pitbarrels?
Congratulations on the new smoker. That thing is nice . Hey Adam, I'm curious where did you get that citronella Lantern at? I've been looking all over Amazon for that exact one that you have, But I can't find that one👍🏻🇺🇲
how many briskets can you fit ?
Great cook as always!!! What is the model # of your portable HB? Have a great summer!
It is the HB 250 Pro. Perfect for travel, camping and back patio bbq!
I love the big spatula. What make / price is it please?
Awesome video. Great cook! Wheres mine?
That's got to be the world's biggest spatula LOL
What’s the pot that has flames coming out of it We’re did you get it.
I am seriously considering one of these, and giving my Big Green Egg the boot. ***update*** I just ordered the corten steel one today!
Sheesh congrats!! Have you tried grilling on this thing (higher temps)? I’m just wondering as it seems like lower level could be good for that
Noticed you haven't used your LoneStar grill since forever....do you not enjoy using it or does it just not perform to your liking?
What about the griddle Abby made?
Like the smell of a new doll! 😂
Hi Adam does H/B Have a outlet in Australia?regards riono.

It is bolted down to a wood pallet do you want it inside a wooden crate, at what cost?
You have an addiction. Lol.
What can this do , that a WSM can't ? I'm looking for it. I don't see it.

If you get a Hasty Bake, you will find you probably don't need all the others. But want them is another story. I'm there now!
Im out i cant get down on the floor to deal with the fire
Great video! It looks like you really dislike Hasty Bake grills with a passion!!! Hahahaha! What happened to your PK 360? Did you sell it?
Do you both know how cool you are?
no guy wants to hear his smoker is "Cute"☺
Your lid is dented.
Yeah he talked about it.
Abom, the freight company might be Chinese owned, "just sayin".
That looks good and it's not red Inside we'll done
lucky XD
