Imagine you're hiking through the woods in Germany and randomly you see two fully outfitted knights duking it out.
Happens sometimes.
I'd grab some popcorn and just watch
@@dequitemzu wenig Explosionen 😂
I only speak English, but I love how I still was able to more or less understand this.
@@theinquisitor8112well yeah, they don’t speak, just fight. Anyone could understand it
I'm writing a medieval dark fantasy book and I take lots of inspiration for combat scenes from your videos. Keep up the good videos
I’d actually be interested in reading some of what you got. I’m a writer too and I’m working on an 1800s dueling inspired story
I’m working on some stories as well. These videos are great references!👍
" art creates art "
Could you bring up your writing material
post that shit here dawg, we are interested
I have NEVER seen anything like this before. You have creates a unique genre. It is pure art.
Thanks!
You always impress me with such amazing work!!
I just wonder how you make these fights so real with out killing one another lol
Pur luck :D
Better than anything netflix is capable of
Black screens/frames look so cool to show/mark deaths. The video itself looks super scenic and game-like (probably because of editing/low dynamic range of the sensor but it gave it super nice vibe/look to it).
nice work as always!
Thanks!
Your videos just popped up randomly due to youtube magic and I have to say, I'm totally fine with that.
Really amazing to watch historical martial arts fought like this, so raw and real. As stupid as it may sound, it really showcases the violence of it. Nothing like you see in movies!
Awesome videos man! Just came across your channel. I’m a fully armoured sword fighter as well and I absolutely love your videos! Great work sharing our passion with the world and showing how real combat was back then.
Thanks, i will make a new video about ...
:P
Damn, these shots are more cinematic than most movies with any kind of dueling. Love the videos and keep up the good work!
Das Video war wie immer sehr gut. Bitte mehr davon!
Kommt
Dear god this is so brutal and beautiful, you're seriously such an artist
brutal. The stabby stabs made me laugh tho :)
I guess with armor everything can be resolved by the dagger.
You must be crazy to do this....
Its super interesting cuz its like see the real deal, in the educational way...
this is skyrim according to YT.
nice gfx DLC :O
What the fuck :D I didn't do anything. When I uploaded the video I called it in the sport category :D
@@dequitem you are skyrim now the YT gods have spoken :P
excellent video!
Thanks
Dieses sind sehr schöne! You've inspired me to star HEMA. Hallo von Australien 🇦🇺 !
Nice to hear and greetings back from Germany.
This is wonderful, gentlemen! I have been tormented for 2 years in search of my favorite weapon of this era, what do you think is better for the battlefield, taking into account the battle against the men-at-arms: a two-handed winged spear, pollaxe or a one-handed hammer
Spear with sword, than Poleaxe, than only a spear, than onehanded warhammer.
tolle perspektive! gutes video!
Danke!
Amazing work 💯💯💯
How do you ensure you don't actually injure each other, it looks like you all are even aiming for the weak points of the armor and everything. Thanks in advance for info
We sometimes injure us. Some broken bones and bruises. But the weapons are blunt.
Sehr schöne Video.👍
nice finish with the shank
i'm wondering if spear would be able to penetrate plate with good thrust
In the gaps of course but not the plates themself. The spear blades are optimal to slipped in gabs!
@dequitem Figured I'd help with you with your English a bit, since you're kind enough to reply to us.
"The spear blades are optimal for slipping between gaps!"
Great videos, mate. Cheers!
Was für ein geiler Kanal! Hat viel mehr Abos verdient. Ein neues habt ihr aber schon.
Ich bin alleine mit dem Kanal, aber die Grüße richte ich gerne meinen den Gastkämpfern in meinen Videos aus.
Over the past 5 or 6 years, I've been independantly studying Medieval Europe's military and civilian cultures. RUclips has a lot to offer with so many fantastic creators with vast amounts of knowledge and study!
I am so incredibly happy to have found this channel (and also surprised that shorts did something useful, lol)! I have had a hard time finding really good medieval harness fighting content. You can technically describe the techniques all you want, but actually seeing them used with considerable force is beyond valuable!
How much power are you using while you fight? I would assume it can't be full force with pole weapons, given that that'd be very dangerous. Is 70-80% an accurate estimate? And I also assume that all of the close combat would be full force besides the stabs with the rondels.
Thank you for your incredible content, this stuff is absolute gold!
I think it's most of the time around 80 percent, but sometimes 100.
@@dequitem Oh, wow, how does it feel to take a hit at 100% power? Does it make a loud sound in the helmet if you're hit in the head? Thank you for the reply!
@@necroseus yes it is very loud. In the video against the Buhurt fighter I was knocked out for a second, the padding in historical helmets is very low!
glad to see kettle guy taking a dub
What a fight 😮
After he grab me and turn my head, i had no chance!
AD MORTEM INIMICUS
Id like to know about the sallet config for this type of duels, does it have any rear neck defense? is it sallet+bevor or the bevor is integrated in the sallet? thx
When you take a closer look. You can recognize that I never trust to his face. The bevor is excluding. So I was afraid to thrust his mouth area. The visor slight has a mesh of a fencing mask attached, but the helmet is still not save enough. That why he will order a new helmet and better fitting armor!
are the weapon blunt?
Sind die Waffen stumpf?
Yes, they are blunt (stumpf und nicht spitz...)
historically, could a spear actually hurt a heavily armoured knight? It seems that you'd usually have to resort to grappling and dagger at the end.
you'd have to get into the gaps of the armor; another video on the channel, a 15 minute analysis of a longsword vs mace fight, is very good at learning more about this
@@diming7616 thanks, I think I've watched it later on. The European plate armour truly is formidable. While you're trying hard to aim at the gaps, he can just hack away at you, maybe you can try to dodge around but imagine being a peasant wearing a gambeson in a close order formation fighting against a group of foot knights, without much room to maneuver I'm as good as dead.
What do you think about the fencing section of the Bologna school dedicated to protazan, which was described by Marozzo?
I like his twohanded sword (Spadone) section.
I feel theres something of a missed opportunity to bring this history to people, be it through video production, video games or anything else. It almost feels criminal to not reflect on the real thing for inspiration.
If you don’t hold the spear a certain way when you’re thrusting can you break your wrist?
no you will not break your wrist that easy, but your defence is a little bit weaker!
@@dequitem what if it’s with a long sword
@@Deathdestroyer08 Same prinziple. Your defence is better when both hands have the inner glove and fingers pointing downwards.
@@dequitem I see thank you for answering my questions :)
hey man i would like to ask are those weapons effective? like for example irl the knights seems like the weapons arent doing anything to them, i still dont get it xd also gj man love the content
In the 14th and 15th century is the spear, poleaxe, longsword, warhammer and dagger the most effective close combat weapons. They are effective. There is no better option in closed combat. Point balance fire arm action is mor a thing in the 16th and 17th century.
Yes, they are effective. The point with fighting in armor is not to stab into the armor. You try to get stabs in the gaps (which you need to have in order to move) such as the inside of the elbow, under the armpit, in the crotch, and behind the knees
--however i would call those stabs a secondary objective. Primarily fighring between 2 armored opponents ends up in wrestling and joint manipulation and control. If you have 2 points of contact on an opponent it is much easier to control them. Gaining control of someone's joint will give you the joint above; control someone's wrist to control their elbow--their elbow to their shoulder. Having control of somebody's arm, you can move them around into disadvantageous positions and throw them.
Having a long stick, either sharpened or blunt is like having a giant lever with which to control a whole person. Obviously, the opponent is trained and is going to try and counter your attempts at obtaining a good position to lock their limbs or throw them.
Having your bollock dagger or rondel is a fantastic secondary weapon that is long, very firm, and generally primarily for stabbing rather than slashing or cutting. These are great at additional manipulation or getting into those less armored joints and stabbing
@@REDWOLF5652 great comment, but if both opponents wanna kill each other you end less in wrestling (around 50 %). In historical fights you often try to take the other arrested and money for them, then wrestling will be 100 % in every fight.
@@dequitem oh, that's interesting! I never thought about that--great videos by the way! Love your stuff =)
Nice
If there's something i learned from watching your videos, it's that you might as well just ditch the weapon and go for the dagger if hes kitted out!
Wow he realy stabbed him like 10 times
More!
the fight director was clearly in prison
😅 But it's not choreographed!
Damn what game is this, the graphics are so good.
It's no game!
*AD MORTEM INIMICUS*
Is a spear really that ineffective against armor? But what about alspices or a heavy spear like a boar-spear?
Oh it is real effectiv, there are not much weapons that are that strong, but in a duel you often don't have the angle to kill someone with one hit. If the blade will not flex, it is a much more powerful weapon.
So did he die?
No I am fine. I was the guy on the ground.
I don’t mean to backseat drive but when those spears get locked up a kick to the knee would literally make or break the whole fight
The one in the wallet appears to be a Prussian knight, right?
Have you tried weighted rubber maces?
No, but it sounds cool. Where can I find them.

1 to 2 hits of a mace on these heavily armored combatants would be fatal ?
No, but it would break your strukture and make you desorientated. It will be hard to defend yourself for following attacks.
Объясните мне что это такое, 😱😱
Harness fencing. Hema in armor in Buhurt intensity.
Unlike @Adorea Olomouc, yours is actually more than Hollywood spins and twirls pretending to be historical. Well done.
Adorea deals in choreographed fights and are excellent in that, completely realistic and based on Talhoffer and other manuscripts. This guy deals in unscripted sparring, you simoly cannot compare the two.
You committed murder on camera and then uploaded it on RUclips? I am reporting you to RUclips and calling the police to turn you in! 😮
Dafuck. The weapons are blunt. And you can see me in new videos, so I am obviously not dead!
