  • Today I'm sharing a faceup I recently did on a friend's Faewoods Orchidaceae Frankenstein girl! Isn't she the coolest? I really enjoyed painting this doll and especially getting to use the heavy shimmer and metallics.

I really liked how it looked against the dark matte lips for sure!

I was looking for a tutorial for making a doll mask when I stumbled across your channel, and just wow. I can’t believe how similar we are! I, too, am a young(ish) doll loving author who likes to (try and) make her characters in doll form. (Sometimes it doesn't end well. 😅)
I've checked out a few vids, and I must say, you have such amazing talent and your customs look absolutely stunning!

She's really nice and had such lovely features. I know Faewoods does all casting in-house too and I was really impressed with the quality. Fantastic work from a small artist and something for me to aspire to with my own dolls.

The face up that you gave to this girl is more than wonderful 👏🏻 ❤❤❤
I hope that in an upcoming video you will talk in depth about setting face up , especially Mr. Super Clear. When can we use it and the appropriate humidity level for it and when should we not use it and what are the appropriate and inappropriate conditions of hardening, especially humidity? My problem is that I live In a hot area and the humidity is high because I live near the sea and this bothers me a lot and does limit my use of Mr. Super Clear. 😮‍💨🙏🏻💔

      Thank you!!
I made a video about using sealant quite a few years ago, which you can see here: ruclips.net/video/NUsG-dYHEAI/видео.htmlsi=KBg6IDvadc3D26hv
But I know it is a little older now, so it may not answer everything! The humidity and temperature guidelines for most sealants (including MSC) are the same, but I live in a river delta so the humidity is always high here, too... The best trick I've found is that even if the humidity is super high (or if it's raining!) you can use heat to cure the sealant and get just as good of results as if you had perfect weather. If the humidity is too high to leave the sealant to cure naturally, I use a hair dryer on low and blow dry the MSC. This prevents it from trapping moisture between layers or from having the layers dry sticky. It's been one of the best discoveries for me, because now I can paint dolls in all weather!

Oh Beth you woosed out I wanted to know how to pronounce that word. Apparently it is said "OrkidAce EI". Very pretty face-up. 👍👍👍

Hahahaha! Normally I'd look it up if I got stuck, like I do with a lot of Asian sculpt names... but I didn't have time today and I wasn't feeling brave.

Circus blood you say? Did you used to perform?

Not me, but my grandmother! I grew up being regaled with her grand stories of her time as a performer. And hearing the bawdy songs that were popular among the circus staff, which my mom was less enthused about, lol! I always loved the circuses and carnivals when I was a kid, but seeing my grandparents there was the best.
