I love your channel, thank you. Thank you for being realistic and not spending a fortune on plants, like proven winners(all the time). I am thankful that you shop at big box stores and all those plants are beautiful. Lately some garden shows are so hyped up about buying proven winners, beautiful as they are , but sometimes not affordable for average gardener. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and realism when shopping for plants. And also your garden show isn't all about what your doing to enhance your gardens. Some garden show like garden answer is to showy, it's all about what projects she is doing and not about old time gardening. I used to like garden answer but it's just not reachable to the average gardener and it gives me anxiety. I love your show because it's more like a realistic garden. Goals that take time etc. Thank you. I have been gardening for 30 years and have a lot but I do what you do and it works. Thank you again
100% agree with you!!! I applaud you for your courage in stating how you feel! I have been wanting to comment something like this on that channel for some time now but people on the internet can be so cruel so I have kept my thoughts to myself. And also agree with the above comment…have stopped watching. Too much anxiety over trying to “keep up” so to speak. It’s all about sponsorships now on a lot of channels…not about teaching gardening. Steph…thanks for being uniquely you! My style of gardening is definitely more in line with yours for sure! Very refreshing! Keep up the great work!!!
Your quick but so clear description of each plant and its growing characteristics is so helpful. I agree. Your voice and presentation is wonderful. I can listen to you all day.
Thank you for the tour of your well-kept and beautiful garden, Steph. Really love your iris, alliums, candy corn spirea and the list goes on and on. I love peony and when I saw your Shirley Temple I thought look at the massive flowers about to open! Your trees are looking magnificent and like the way you have stones bordering your many gardens. Happy Memorial Day! Happy Gardening! I know you are a true gardener ready for anything & persevere always!
Stephanie, my garden has been invaded by the same grass-like weeds as yours has. I've had no choice but to spend time just about every day attempting to pull the invader out by the roots, but so far they are winning the battle. Grrrrrr
We also had this grass. It got so out of control we had to dig up all of our plants and untangle their roots with the grass. Finally had to use Roundup to get rid of it. The fun part is now I have an empty space ready to be created into a new lovely garden!
I’m thinking that grass is quackgrass. I have it and you have to pull the runner roots to get rid of it. If it is growing in with your grass you will always get it. For me, it’s my pain and will probably always have it. However, very thick mulch helps and when you pull don’t do it on dry dirt, it will just brake off and then come back.
You have inspired me with so many ideas for my garden. I wish my poor old hands wouldn't hurt so bad after working in the glorious dirt. But I continue on! Love your beautiful gardens.
I'm enjoying your show so very much!!! I can't wait to see your next video!!! Thank you for explaining and showing your ideas for patio and floral decorations!!! It's so fun!!! Thank you so much!!!
Your gardens look amazing. The peach iris is so lovely. I think the grassy weed might be quack grass and it is a formidable foe in the garden as it has a long white root that will just resprout if you don’t get out every inch of it. Also might I add you looked so pretty in your summery dress standing amongst the flowers ❤️🌷🌸🌱Thanks for a great video.
Hi Steph! Your irises are just so pretty. Im loving your corals and lilacs . They just make your garden so romantic and easy on the eye. Your variegated cornus is spectacular, along with the spireas you have. Very pretty dress too. Bye for now Jo😊
Your yard is absolutely heaven on earth! I so enjoyed your tour especially the awesome maples! Also, your voice is so easy to listen to! Have a blessed Memorial Day weekend! Thank you!
I grew up in Maine and now live in NC, so listening to your videos bring back memories of many of the plants I grew up seeing in my grandparents gardens. I am in zone 8b now so I have learned to love other plants that are sun loving. I love your gardens, style, soothing voice, team work with George, and practical approach to gardening. Thank you for another great video.❤
Hi Liz! You are so welcome!! Their Iris are my favorite 😍 I've had a great experience with my orders from them. The rhizomes are always large and healthy 🌱
Great video! I'm a new subscriber and a new gardener. I appreciate how precise you are in communicating your garden. I would love to see how you "pick out" your baby foxglove, move it the back and then move again. Sounds crazy and I would love to learn what that looks like. It sounds scary to me as a new gardener. Thank you for sharing the beauty and your passion with me! Your new friend, Kristine
I love love your channel, I’ve just come across you and I am soo happy I did! You’ve given me SO much inspiration for my own garden. I love the colours you choose and the amount of helpful information is much appreciated!
Steph your gardens are beautiful and so joyful!!! I love the happy spirit you bring to each video!!!! You guys have worked so hard!!! It shows!!! God Bless you!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Steph. I've been patiently waiting for a garden tour. Your beds are looking glorious. Love this time of year when all the greenery has that fresh green color💚
I look forward to every garden tour - I love all your gardens but I especially love your Japanese Maple and Blue Spruce collections, especially the lollipop blue spruce! Thanks for all the detail you put into your channel♥
All absolutely stunning Steph…. I can’t believe how mature the new J Maple garden is looking. New bench garden under the trees will be beautiful, especially with the 3 variegated shrubs as a backdrop… Just beautiful Steph and George 👏💚💚💚
Good afternoon. Just a suggestion and I would not know how much it would cost, however you can get a tree nursery to use their tree planter/remover to remove your blue spruce and have them replant it where you think it should go. Not sure if you can do that but I feel it would help you rectify the issue.
Love your garden tours!!! Please consider doing more of them, like biweekly. Just footages of your garden with/without voiceover is fine! I savor your garden tours. I don’t watch it in one go because it finishes too quickly lol
Robbie, I want to be your neighbor 😉☺️ You are so generous and you are always smiling and laughing. I really enjoy watching your videos every day.❤ Thank you and the containers look beautiful.
Stephanie and George thank you for the video. Your Japanese maples are beautiful and so is everything else. I also appreciate your gardening style, you don't do things the rest of us mere mortals can't hope to afford. Your yard is beautiful..
Thank you so much! Yes, I will likely cut back that evergreen pretty hard at some point, if not this year, definitely next year, in very early spring so it has time to recover before it gets to warm.
I too have the same grass blade in my flower garden. It is a beast and will take over. When you pull it out, which is hard to do, you can see that the roots have runners. We can't spray them so keep pulling.
Your garden is beautiful. The blue spruce will need to be professionally removed and replanted elsewhere, the sooner the better. Really nice arrangement of your plants!
What Zone do you live in? All of your Japanese Maples and the varieties of evergreens you have are stunning. They add such an impact to your landscape.
I think it is a grass. I use a spray you can buy at Home Depot that kills the grass but not the flower. I use that spray a lot. It also kills the roots.
Beautiful tour of your garden! The very start looks a lot like an area of my front yard I recently created but with a Royalty crab apple tree but underneath the same look with the nepetas. I also just showed my next door neighbor (he just bought some salvia) how to cut it back to get more blooms which I learned from you.....and those pesky blades of grass that pop out here and there I have always considered to be a weed and just pull them out when I see them. Hope you and George and family have a wonderful holiday weekend!
I just moved interstate and could not take any plants from my garden. this video will help me decide how to start my new garden beds. love your channel and tyfs your garden and knowledge ❤❤
Hi Steph your garden is looking fresh and beautiful, You might want to consider replacing that blue spruce with a totem blue spruce which is a columnar variety. I just tucked one in one of my beds and I love it.
I just found your channel today and LOve it! I watched the video where you switched out your raised beds. I have a small raised bed and a few veggies in pots. Praying for success this season. I will be watching for more tips. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your garden. Can you give tips on how you were able to plant the dogwood right under a big tree? The ground should have lots of big roots.
Your gardens are looking gorgeous, especially your maple trees and those unusual spruce forms (except the Colorado spruce - I once planted a Norway spruce in the wrong spot...) You have many multicolor shrubs which are quite striking, especially altogether in your Japanese garden - haven't seen the video yet but I'm looking forward to it. Love all your helpful information, too, Happy spring!
Great garden tour! So, many beautiful plants and of course, I love your Japanese maples. I recently got an acer palmatum Summer Gold. It's a one gallon, so small. I enjoy your videos! 😃
Never saw a dogwood like your variegated one , very beautiful. What is the variety of your Mother’s Day dogwood ? You and George have beautiful gardens
It may be nutsedge. Look it up if you have some time. Do not pull it. It spreads. They have either nuts on the roots or ryzomes. Either will spread if not removed completely underground. They do have a spray for them if you want to use that.
I was going to say the same, Nutsedge. @klosettreat I pulled them. When they appeared last year I stupidly thought it was a failed bulb I planted...everywhere? I just pulled a lot of it. I did spray first with brush killer so maybe I warded off some new ones.
Regarding the mystery grass, did you ever plant daffodils in that spot? There’s a condition that’s called Daffodil Blindness in which the daffodil shoots come up but don’t produce flowers. Looks similar to long blades of grass.
Your garden is beautiful this spring so healthy but boy your Japanese Maples plus dogwoods stole the show they are my top two trees the third is any Birch varieties I live in 9B and get my birches from Oregon from my nursery .

Agree with you. I stopped watching Garden Answer already, and some other you Tube channels. All of them are about buying these and buying that. Sad.
I agree with you totally with all your comments, I like this gardening show.

Agree! I have to garden on a budget and do the labor myself so I am seeking out channels with similar approaches.
Sounds like you’re very bitter and jealous people.
You have such a pleasant speaking voice and I enjoy your videos. So informative also

It sooo cute Mary. Thank you so much 🥰

Your closing shot was just gorgeous, the colours in your beds are amazing together.
Just a thought, maybe take that evergreen up front and lollipop it or collared it instead of moving it. Loved 😍 this tour, so many beautiful plants.
Thank you so much! Yes, I will likely cut back that evergreen pretty hard at some point, if not this year, definitely next year, in very early spring so it has time to recover before it gets to warm.

You do such a lovely job describing the plantings…and such a beautiful eye!
Steph all you plants look so lush and healthy! Just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing:)
Thank you so much Carol! Thank you so much for watching 💚
Your gardening techniques are so very pretty and serine. Everything is absolutely beautiful.
Your garden is beautiful. The blue spruce will need to be professionally removed and replanted elsewhere, the sooner the better. Really nice arrangement of your plants!
Gorgeous as always u luv how u incorporate all the interesting shrubs
What Zone do you live in? All of your Japanese Maples and the varieties of evergreens you have are stunning. They add such an impact to your landscape.

I think it is a grass. I use a spray you can buy at Home Depot that kills the grass but not the flower. I use that spray a lot. It also kills the roots.
Your Japanese Maples are gorgeous! Living in a hot, dry climate, here in Colorado, I could only have one in the shade.
First you look lovely. I really enjoy your beautiful garden tours
I just got the golden Duke hemlock too! I love the color it adds as an evergreen!
Its a beauty! So glad you have one. Hoping they do beautifully for us both.
Beautiful tour of your garden! The very start looks a lot like an area of my front yard I recently created but with a Royalty crab apple tree but underneath the same look with the nepetas. Your garden is beautiful you did a great job with the design. Literally looks like a garden from Southern Living magazine. 🌺🌸🌼
Thank you! I’m taking research papers to my new doc. And showing her your books.
You must have the perfect climate for Japanese maples. They are gorgeous!
Wow..just wow. You have done a fantastic job!

Hi Steph your garden is looking fresh and beautiful, You might want to consider replacing that blue spruce with a totem blue spruce which is a columnar variety. I just tucked one in one of my beds and I love it.
Beautiful great job hope you get to relax in your bench and enjoy
4 wk ago video. I believe that is sea oats? I live in Ky and have them.
I just found your channel today and LOve it! I watched the video where you switched out your raised beds. I have a small raised bed and a few veggies in pots. Praying for success this season. I will be watching for more tips. Thanks
Hi Linda! Welcome! So glad you found my channel. That was a great project and we just love the transformation. Thanks for watching 🌱
Maybe it's nutsedge. You would need to dig down to the bulby part to remove it vs pulling it and snapping it off the bulb. Beautiful gardens. 💕💕🎶🎶
Oh my! Absolutely beautiful!!! You’ve done a wonderful job!🥰
Thank you for sharing your garden. Can you give tips on how you were able to plant the dogwood right under a big tree? The ground should have lots of big roots.

Your garden is lovely.
I enjoy your video nice personality iam from trinidad
Regarding the mystery grass, did you ever plant daffodils in that spot? There’s a condition that’s called Daffodil Blindness in which the daffodil shoots come up but don’t produce flowers. Looks similar to long blades of grass.
I have that same grass. I’m talking no mine to the county extension. I bet they can identify it!
Love your yard!! The combination of plants is fabulous 👍⚜️
Your garden is beautiful this spring so healthy but boy your Japanese Maples plus dogwoods stole the show they are my top two trees the third is any Birch varieties I live in 9B and get my birches from Oregon from my nursery .

Thank you so very much for your kind words Sonie, and for your support. Happy to have you here! 💚
I get the same grassy weeds and I think it's from a nearby bird feeder. Millet or Milo. Not 100% sure either
Just found your channel...your space is beautiful!
