I saw this post so I had to quickly read all three books and I'm so glad I did. What an entertaining series! Jude had a crazy streak that I loved. She was tough and powerful and full of risk taking. I wish there was more Jude and Cardan verbal sparing and sexual tension. They were fun! I would love to see what other series you recommend.
Yes do a review of ACOTAR. That's a great series, I also love the Thrown of Glass series. I have just started her new series that's adult as opposed to YA.
Oh ladies I’m so happy to hear all of your voices. It gives me hope. Thank you for continuing to create more content and keep people entertained. I’ll have to get the audiobook for these I haven’t read them yet. Thank you for the recommendation I need more good stories right now.
Brilliant Review. I love this series so much and it definelty healed my Reylo heart. For the casting of the twins, you could have one actor play both twins or get actual twins. But I would love the series as a TV show that can extend on the other characters as well
it was so refreshing to read a fantasy/romance series where the plot and pacing, and conflicts outside of the main romance, were as strong as the romance and character development
Before I forget, Girls With Sabers just had a great live chat where they talked about Star Wars Rollout, and how it had baby Ben Solo and a ton of blue butterflies, and how blue butterflies often represent rebirth. This could be a little nudge from the writing team that Ben Solo will return. Some of us in the chat even speculated that when Rey goes to the WBW she will be lead to Ben by blue butterflies.
We saw the Rollout and the pretty butterflies. It could be a nudge he'll return, for sure. It could also be just more scraps they throw at us. I'll wait until I see it. But the episode was beautiful.
Finally read these books (YES, loved them) so I could listen to this and I love your point about Jude liking dresses! That was refreshing to me too! I feel you on the mini-rant about Rey being basically a dude's idea of a "strong woman."
Very interesting hearing you talk about which book was your favorite. Personally, if I had to rank them from favorite to least fav they would be: Wicked King, Queen of Nothing, and Cruel Prince. I acknowledge that QoN had problems, but I think I was just so happy to read a fitting conclusion (which used solid folktale motifs) to a fantasy romance that I was willing to let the issues slide. CP on the other hand dragged for me. It was so obvious from the beginning that Cardan liked Jude that sitting through her deceiving herself and having a supremely boring romance with Locke was almost more than I could tolerate. But Wicked King was a delight from start to finish.
I ordered the box set. Thank you for the introduction. I’m looking forward to having something good to read while in quarantine. Take care of yourselves.
I love that my favorite SW podcast is also doing books! Timothée Chalamet as Cardan is a great fancast. I can totally see it. And ACOTAR is one of my very favorite series...it sort of saved my life in 2015-2016. I won't mention any spoilers, but I hope you love the sequels Mary!
Just finished this series and loved it so thank you for the recommendation, also I think you guys should talk about the tv show She-ra, like the folk of the air series it has the happy ending that TROS should have gotten
Orphan Black show had one actress playing like 6 different characters and Tatiana Masleny did an AMAZING job at it. I would totally love it if you guys did some more books. I've read all the ones you've mentioned and I am up for any suggestions too!
Personally I wouldn't want Timothee Chalamet to play Cardan because I don't think popular young actors should be cast. I think it would be great to let new talent be given a chance to shine. Especially those beginning their career. It should be a role that they become known for as their career progresses.
If you ladies are looking for suggestions, I'd like to see your review of the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden. It has a very Reyloesque romance.
haha you're right, we have to get over about star wars hahahah I started reading (FINALLY) Lord of the Rings!!! Maybe after I finish the series, I will read this one
I'm listening to the audiobook. I do think it is well written, it's not for me. It could be because I've grown out of the YA genre, but also personally I prefer a more old traditional portrayal of the Fair Folk.
It's a little on the younger side, I think. But I thought the portrayal of the Fair Folk was quite traditional, as in not lying, liking violence, etc. By curiosity, where do you think there's a more traditional portrayal of the Fair Folk?
the make-out scene in TWK was interpreted by me as a sex scene, what with all the undressing & fade out. I was surprised to find out it wasn't in QON when there was an explicit virginity loss scene
This is so fun that you are doing this book series! I read it and really enjoyed the enemies to lovers romance. I also loved that practically everyone is morally gray and the fae world is dark and gritty. Also, The Modern Faerie Tales trilogy is not good. I'm not trying to be mean, but I was hoping for more of this awesome fae world and it just wasn't that. I did make it through all the books, but would never recommend them to anyone. A good one that is in this same world is The Darkest Part of the Forest. It's really good!
Atleast you girls get the ship you always wanted with these books. I just wanted to ask you, do you believe its at all possible to create a awesome, compelling Story set in the Star Wars Galaxy, that can have a empowered female character, can have romance that is not cliched, that can have all the kinds of things you would like, where the kind of roles are flipped round and the girl is all empowered and like saves the male character in some way, either from himself or etc. But like its all wrapped up in a awesome, cool story that has lightsaber battles, cool and unique space battles, etc action and plot twists we never see coming and some solid humor that isnt lame (they fly now). Do you think its possible to create such a story without alienating fans, maybe i could even say a "female-centric" story that doesnt like, advertise itself as that, it just feels and works like a solid original story that EVERYONE can get into, cause it has layers and just something for everyone and doesnt divide groups. Do you think such a story is possible in Star Wars? Cause dont know whether you heard but the rumor at Lucasfilm right now is that Kathleen Kennedy is trying hard to get a "female-centric" Star Wars tv show off the ground with this screenwriter called Leslye Headland.
I think Leslye's Headland show is more a niche show, and there are so many shows coming out, not all of them need to please everyone. I think it's possible to create a story with a strong female protagonist and cool love story, yes. Don't you like Luke and Mara? But I think you need to get the majority of the male viewers rooting for your pair. I think many viewers identified with Finn or thought that Kylo was irredeemable, therefore rejected it. We talk about it more in the marketing video, but they should have promoted the trilogy in a way that got people onboard with their story, not by pretending it was something different.
La Casa De Papel has a good female protagonist, Tokyo. I like and the other female characters, Nairobi, Lisboa, Estocolmo and Alicia Sierra. The only problem is Arturito (and Denver's laugh).
I would give this series a 3.5 overall, it's really forgetable. It had a great concept, but the lack of proper world building, character development, and forced romance wrecked it for me. In my opinion, the relationship between Jude and Cardan is horrible. They hate each other and Cardan has always treated Jude (and basicly everyone else) horribly **asshole** . He has no redeming qualities yet Jude somehow falls for him. They always talk about being atracted to eachother but not much else, it's like they just want to make out because they are so self deprecating and hate each other.

Im happy to hear you guys again! 💞
I was wondering if you can collab with Girls with Sabers on a live stream together for Reylo. ✌🏻
That would be amazing 😍😍😍
Yeah, we've talked to them before, it's just never happened. We need to get organized.
@@LordsoftheSithPodcast Oh ok. Take your time girls, everything is possible! ✌🏻💞
GWS & LOTSP crossover will be glorious to see!
Hi ladies! Finished reading the trilogy last night and I loved it! It's my new favorite 😍! Thank you for recommending it! Loved Jude and Cardan!

They have been saying they are not done with Ben Solo's story
Seems like it would be satisfying for a Reylo but i also feel a Labyrinth fanfic vibe to it i stopped at spoiler alert so i can read it

Lol to deceiving herself and having a boring romance... It's true. But it's intriguing, right?

Locke is sort of a villain from beyond the grave in QON through what he does by passing Ghost's real name on to Madoc
That's true.
If you like this trilogy, try to read An Ember in the Ashes series.
I think I tried the preview and didn't get much excited, but I'll maybe give it a harder try.

Locke is a chaos instigator so his name sounds like Loki on purpose
Yes, that's true.
