Wrong timing but she deserve the respect for a Cheng upgrade!

I know leanne is not 16-17 anymore, but i wish she added more upgrades to make herself a much stronger candidate for paris, the cheng was very impressive, but it didnt do much considering her dty was already very strong and this only added a few tenths for her, she should have focused on the other 3 events, if she added her double double dismount off bars, if she made a few extra connections on beam, and added the dos santos on floor, i think that would have probably raised a few eyebrows, especially if she had taken a year off ncaa and focused on difficulty not just execution.
I really wanted her to make the team, but i cant deny that the selection commitee did the right thing by putting hezly

Her education and her commitment to her Florida teammates it seems were just as important to her as this. I can’t blame her for not wanting to pick one over the other - I’m sure she knew going in to the 23 NCAA season what was at stake. I hope she has no regrets. ❤
What has always mystified me though is she has trained some of the hardest skills and they looked competition worthy. She obviously- with throwing the Cheng here as proof - is still at the highest level to do them - so I’m just wondering why she her coaches and her (mainly Al Fong) didn’t compete them. Amanar, the double twisting double layout, the Chuso, etc. that always frustrated me. But regardless..what a career.

She’s only 20. She’s 3-4 years younger than jade Jordan and Suni. She could literally go another quad if she wanted to without ncaa distraction.

This is great, unfortunate about the other events. I'm slightly concerned that they are always going to pick top 5 AA for olympic teams/world champs but luckily this time the top 5 actually made most sense for scoring in TF + medal potential.

Yeah Leanne fell victim to this. She was the best choice for 2021 instead of Grace.

@@eliseperron1928 Yes I agree. If I remember right, She mathematically had the highest floor + vault total in 2021 scores throughout nationals and trials; even higher than MyKayla Skinner that was "World class" on those 2 events which is really darn good for someone who was "Too inconsistent" (Leanne)

suddenly mykayla skinner did not pave the way for one hand vault 🦗

Sucks that Leanne is alternate yet again. She just barely misses being on the Olympic team. How is that?

I think the cheng definitely made her a strong candidate, but sadly her bars, beam and floor aren’t as difficult as they used to be. Her scores are okay but don’t have much potential to medal. I think her best shot would have been for vault but they already hve jade and Simone so there’s not too much need for it.
It does suck that she got alternate again but I think it’s deserved this time. I do think she should have beat out grace for last Olympics

@@damienpatrickshane9056 Should she also have switched coaches and worked on her weak areas? Maybe also take a year off of NCAA? There’s speculation that doing NCAA hurt her in the run up to these trials.

She should have made it in 2021. That was the only instance where the top girls didn’t make sense. It should have been her and not grace.

Especially with beam being so disastrous tonight, Rivera really shone above everyone falling/flailing. If Leanne had upgraded floor maybe? Still alternate is great, she’s on the team and going to Paris! Also she has now competed a Cheng and it was even better the 2nd time. Taking the positives. ❤

Her schedule just really prevented her from her elite training as early and as intense as she would have liked, I’m just assuming. Pre med? That’s already an insane enough school workload. But doing NCAA comps weekly, and UF went further for longer than anyone else in Trials. And she runs a business…I’m sure she knew that it would be a heavy workload…but I’m still massively proud of her. She is one of my most favorite gymnasts of all time. Not many people can say they will be a doctor one day and got to go to two Olympics in case they need her.
