  • continuing on from my last video where I talked about my first submission and how I felt a part of a community; now we go into the very limited time I had competed.
In the video I explain a bit about fight gitters, highs and lows of winning and loosing. Certain mindset and balance that the body needs to be in competition (from my own experience). I needed to do competitions to realize I didn't enjoy competition. I would say that competition is not absolutely necessary to enjoy martial arts, but everyone should try at least one. I've left out the bit in the video, but I would say here that after I had done competition, everything else in training felt a lot more easier. The anxiety wasn't really there and there was no pressure. That only comes sometimes after tough competition that you realize how hard you can push yourself.
You're never too old to train, and to compete.
For those who do compete, I hold you very high in regards. I don't have what it takes to be an athlete, so I commend the ones who do it for a living.
For those like me who just do this as a hobby, I think I can say that having martial arts in our lives helps balance out all the other stuff in our lives too.
