This song was my favorite when it first came out. It has also helped me get through the most difficult moments in my life. Love love love this song!!!!!
I love this song! I was 9 when my dad played this cassette on his weird cassette player for me in our pseudo kitchen (they were building a dormer on the second floor, so the new kitchen was an old bedroom which led to the attic). I ended up playing this cassette over and over. Considering the tracks like Junkanoo Holiday, Mr. Night, Love Has Come of Age, This is It and Keep the Fire, I couldn't help it! So much so that the cassette tape broke. Oops! I've loved this song since I was a kid. Thanks for this upload! I've already shared it with my family!
@@MrJmoffet Oh wow you’re right! Didn’t notice that. Thought maybe they had backing tape running since Tris Imboden is wearing headphones. But this makes it even better. High level musicianship here.
There's a river in The evening ember glow And you're wishing you could see How far it flows Rolling on to an endless sea You'd be well on your way If you could only set sail But dreams can drift away And sails can fill with doubt Where's your vision If the embers flicker out? Don't let it slip from view The horizon's awaiting Your river is fading So keep the fire burning tonight See just what comes into sight Don't take forever Take it through the night And believe the sun Will rise with the dawn That's all you need to go on But for tonight Just keep the fire burning bright I will never need to ask What have I done? Comes a moment when it's clear There's only one Oh, whatever you need of me I've made up my mind I give you more than you've asked for There are those who can foresee Where we will go All the future I don't really want to know Only that you'll be here with me While the embers still glow We'll be safe till tomorrow Keep the fire burning tonight See just what comes into sight Don't take forever Take it through the night And believe the sun Will rise with the dawn That's all you need to go on For tonight Just keep the fire burning bright Keep the fire burning tonight See just what comes into sight Don't take forever Take it through the night And believe the sun Will rise with the dawn That's all you need to go on For tonight Just keep the fire burning Who are you? (Keep the fire bright) Where are you (Keep the fire bright) You're not alone It's so wonderful (Keep the fire bright)
I must say, that Kenny Loggins is a phenomenal artist, he, too has stood the test of time, a great artist, a great father figure, he reminds so much of my partner, the late. Leslow Majlath, the Executive Director, of the movie titled, Hardly Working, it starred Jerry Lewis, in 1981, they were filming in South Miami, they were featured in the Enquirer, I was laughing, about the cover, the rabbits and who shows up but Leslie the director, uhmmm, watch the weather!!!!!!! Back to yesterday!!
This performance STILL amazes me, and I was there.....
He’s one of the greatest vocalists ever in my opinion!!
Can't stop smiling! And just so damn grateful I grew up in a time when this kind of music was being made! Thank you God!
One of my faves by him.
That beautiful feathered hair is magical. I stan.
Killing it with a Les Paul, Gold shoes and your Mom's sweater. What a beast!

So many bright colors it's like Christmas in Crayola land! I love you Kenny Loggins and your band
The 1970's were the era of the singer-songwriter-musician-performer. Their lyrics were heartfelt and their vocals were unembellished.
Love love love this song. Thank you for posting

Hot damn, this performance is electric! The whole band is on point.
Love this live version from April 1980 of this fantastic song. Kenny Loggins and his band were hitting on all cylinders. Great performance!
It was a performance that required two flute players.
Geez. i still have this on VHS. I recorded all the FRIDAYS shows.
Excellent Song, so underrated...don't hear it on the radio anymore. 😔
Who listens to the radio anymore? I listen to my iPod and this song is one of the many songs on it.
@@lamarravery4094 , I do Sirius Radio.!
the live version of this song is 🔥
So freaking awesome! First time seeing this truly live version. Those harmonies and dynamics. 🔥
Goodgod those backing vocals!
Looks like he has extra background singers out of the lights at stage right - you get a glimpse of them in the opening notes.

This is fantastic!!! What a great song and live performance!!!
There's a river in
The evening ember glow
And you're wishing you could see
How far it flows
Rolling on to an endless sea
You'd be well on your way
If you could only set sail
But dreams can drift away
And sails can fill with doubt
Where's your vision
If the embers flicker out?
Don't let it slip from view
The horizon's awaiting
Your river is fading
So keep the fire burning tonight
See just what comes into sight
Don't take forever
Take it through the night
And believe the sun
Will rise with the dawn
That's all you need to go on
But for tonight
Just keep the fire burning bright
I will never need to ask
What have I done?
Comes a moment when it's clear
There's only one
Oh, whatever you need of me
I've made up my mind
I give you more than you've asked for
There are those who can foresee
Where we will go
All the future
I don't really want to know
Only that you'll be here with me
While the embers still glow
We'll be safe till tomorrow
Keep the fire burning tonight
See just what comes into sight
Don't take forever
Take it through the night
And believe the sun
Will rise with the dawn
That's all you need to go on
For tonight
Just keep the fire burning bright
Keep the fire burning tonight
See just what comes into sight
Don't take forever
Take it through the night
And believe the sun
Will rise with the dawn
That's all you need to go on
For tonight
Just keep the fire burning
Who are you?
(Keep the fire bright)
Where are you
(Keep the fire bright)
You're not alone
It's so wonderful
(Keep the fire bright)
Thanks

Great band behind him.
Great single and should have been a bigger hit than it was in 1980!
Total package! Got moves, vocals and great eyes. Joyful noise!!
AND phenomenal song writer!
Great song and band !!
Have always love this song. Great sound quality on this!
I don’t recall the piccolo part on the album version but I live for it as a piccolo player myself.
Always loved this song ♥️
Awesome
A hit song that should have been bigger
And a handsome guy.
Kenny Loggins was always cool!
And the flutes!
Still feels good!
Awesome!

Great song, great performance. Could have done without the gold shoes though...
Can Fridays be had on DVD? Loved that show.

That's terrific. Thanks, man!
Danny Kortchmar on guitar??
Looks like Michael Landau
Michael Hamilton, very talented guitarist. Could switch from jazz to rock in a song like a light switch.
I feel for him how he must struggle to get a girl to talk to him
