While the Pensacola's behaviour was risky, he was at least regularly changing course, probably also altering his speed and using his fighter to spot torps. So he is better still than 70% of Tier VII cruiser captains.
exactly, and running isn´t the option as well - chip damage from guns + not certain position of a DD is a hell of a mess. Better to know where the DD is :)
@@siriusczech no just no. The pensa should have instantly turned North away from the kami. The kami has piss poor range on the guns so they wouldn't have been an issue.
Yeah, but steaming away at full speed is easier than evading torps based on nothing but surface detection locating. The choice is between inviting a loss, and not inviting a loss, and he chose to invite a loss.
The Texas *was* originally OP as hell - where carriers were concerned. I still remember having as much AA as a North Carolina, just at tier 5. The wailing and gnashing of teeth from CV players was both audible and *glorious*! :D Then they nerfed the shit out of it. 'Twas truly a sad say :(
I remember when the Texas first came out and saw the CV dunking on one immediately and thought "what a waste of money" as it was being set on fire and flooded.
I hear you. I used to love my Texas 'till they nerfed her. In fact, they double nerfed her - After a while I found that I could take her out 10 games in a row and never get a CV. Swap to her tech tree counterpart New York, and I'd get a CV every time. Hmm...
The AAA was nerfed, but those guns still can blast a tier VII cruiser in one salvo or chunk 10-15k off any BB that you can't straight up citadel right away. Still one of the best tier V battleships despite the awfully slow speed, low tier CV lack the alpha damage to be more than a nuisance for a competent BB player.

When something is really fast in a game, be it a ship, armoured car, or anything for that matter, i usually say "It is, where it wants to be." Because some things are soo fast, that if you loose eye contact, they can be anywhere, from the other side of the map, to the backside of your vehicle...
ChaosMachine actually had another play he could have made there. After killing the enemy BB, he could have headed for the enemy cap. If he could spend more time in their cap than the BB spent in his, then even if the DD killed his teammate, they'd still be in the lead in points. And if the enemy DD cam over to defend the cap, then the Pensacola would have been safe, and they'd have won even if ChaosMachine got killed.
The Pensacola is applying world of tanks logic head for the last fall of shot and hope the artillery guy is shooting a grid pattern. The last place the Kamikaze would expect to find him is the last place the Kamikaze was. The Kamikaze can't see the Greek guys ship so he is probably thinking "Their up to something."
FYI, Lenigrad was just made available for 20,000 community tokens in the Armory, so it too can now be had for free. Also, Pensacola has 25mm plating, which means it can bow tank 356mm and lower AP rounds.
Man I remember back in the day when I kinda terrorized tier III-VII with the Minekaze and Kamikaze, even after the Russian gunboats were introduced. Nothing quite like hunting big capital ships and playing torpedo tag with enemy DDs :D
I wish people didn't only hear what you said at the end but practice it too. It is SO frustrating to do the best you can possibly do in a game and for the majority of them being people just thinking score like, or playing like it is another shoot em up, etc. I may sound cringe-ish but I learned something playing for a year now: when DD says need support it means I will throw torps and leave you alone (ending up dead because you committed supporting) and when a BB says follow me in they mean I turn my ship immediately on the 1st sign of trouble AND leave you alone. Sorry, I had to take this out of my chest and reader be grateful, these are not the only things done to me just the most common.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think the Kamikaze misplayed the endgame by backing off the way she did. In that situation, I'm anticipating the Pensacola trying to link up with the Leningrad for protection and I'm beelining to intercept the Pensacola and take her out before that happens.
you know what i said back when the Kamikaze was on sale ? Why would i want a premium minekaze, when ican just play the normal Minekaze.....yeah the it was nerfed a LOT. So Kamikaze is still as OP as Minekaze used to be.
I got the Kamikaze R from that pearl event thing they did just after the game launched. I thought the same thing at the time but it's hilarious how much better it is than the poor Minekaze now. I think the Minekaze used to be 1kt faster and had 100m worse concealment but was identical in every other way.
I used free xp to unlock the fiji after your video about it and have enjoyed every match but 1 playing it even when we lost. (The 1 exception was when a "friendly" nagato decided to shadow me the entire game and when i smoked up to farm he would sit directly behind my smoke meaning that he was constantly spotted as he was firing random salvos at the last positions of the now unspotted enemy but could not spot anyone in return. I ended up wasting all my smoke consumables as the dds all died early and we were alone on our flank).
Oh look, I'm in this one. Oh no, I played pretty poorly. Also Jingles, the Leningrad is now functionally free. You can get it for 20,000 community tokens in the armoury.
The Texas was OP back in the days of the RTS carriers. I hated going up against one of them because they'd de-plane you faster than you could say 'Akshully Jingles.'
While I appreciate the attempt at a potato PSA in the last couple minutes Jingles, I feel the need to point out your wasting your breath, the potatoes will simply retort "DEET DEE DEE".
Jingles... I just had one of those battles.... our two surviving BBs trying to kill an Ismail and the paper Russian CV thing.... while we had all three caps and only 2 min to go. We just won (with a beaten up Colorado), but let me just say that I referred them to your Game of Throws series. Unfortunately, it's very clear that this playstyle is not restricted to the SEA server.
To be fair to the October Revolution... he would have thought the Leningrad was still down engaged with the Kamikaze and Lyon, so he had no reason to think he had to maneuver.
He got spotted, unspotted for a few seconds, spotted briefly, and then unspotted again. Anyone with half a brain should realize what spotted him and where it is and where the torps are most likely going to come from. Just altering his speed by 1 press of the S key probably saves his life for that moment at least. He might have died eventually but who knows.
What i did not sign up for this!!! I wanted to see the US CA try to get into a torpedo fight with a Japanese DD and loose! This is not. True jungles video!
Ah, the Kamikaze... So many people look at the paper stats on that ship and largely dismiss it - but they fail to realize that it's almost always played by some of the most grizzled Destroyer veterans, and the ship itself is actually a vicious, bloodthirsty little thing. In capable hands, I'd quite happily bet on the Kamikaze against a LOT of ships, a LOT of tiers above it.
I remember that originally the premium ships in WoWs had steeper skill curves than the tech tree ships... they had better economics and could be played to advantage, but only if you were able to get over that skill wall. The Okty, for example, is the battleship version of the Krasny Krym, in some ways. It's a lower tier ship (Gangut) with a few modernizations and changes. It's got lower-tier armor, it's missing several secondaries, and has only 12" guns in a bizarre layout. It's not a bad ship, but it's only good if you can teach yourself how to play it... and it never used to be OP. Nowadays, with all the changes, I'm not sure Jingles is wrong about the current state of play. It's certainly where WoT has ended up.
The Pensacola did not have a choice, Jingles. Map border death within a minute or keep the Kamikaze busy (which she did) to keep it from getting near the friendly cap again and win by points.
Wrong. The pensa had a choice. It should have headed north instantly to try and put space between it and any torps. Then possibly linked up near the friendly cap with the dd.
@@MrBounce66 the pensacola is clearly under threat of being torpedoed every couple of seconds and hence is evading like shit. The decision to not take a 180° turn nor ramming the map border is completely reasonable. Jingles changed his argumentation from "the kamikaze is a brutal Torpedo threat" to "look at that idiot" which is bonkers to be frank.
@@AmvC but it's not under threat unless he's pushing into where the kami was. The kami can shit out torps but they arnt fast and they arnt long range. The pensa should have turned away as soon as it could and made Billy big steps north so it could dodge any incoming torps easier. By pushing into the kami he was asking to be torped.
Actually Jingles, those torps that needed to run for "at least a minute" and that battleship that needed to go in a straight line for "at least a minute" ... I'll get my coat.
i do like the Viribus Unitis. it may have not much health and is slow af but i have constantly good games with it. also i am austrian so its obvious why i love it 😅
I would like to see the Japanese carrier : Shinano. She's a sistership from the Yamato and Musashi but as an aircraft carrier. She carried things like Ohka kamikaze jets.
Oh thank goodness someone told me what ethnicity ChaosMachine is. I didn't want to ask because the likely options are, shall we say, antagonistic towards each other.
Let's look at it from the other side: "Alexios" did do *nothing* in those last few minutes. He didn't *cap*, he didn't get into a position where he could *help* the Pensacola, and he did not get *away* from the potential Kamikaze position either. Going into open water and maneuvering like the Pensacola did is the best way to *not* get ambushed.
Typical Jingles. He is too busy blaming the Pensa for playing bad to realise the Leningrad player is also making a gargantuan misplay. He could easily ask the Pensa to fall back and regroup or just sail to him and spot for potential torps. Even if he gets spotted, it would be a 2v1 gunfight and not 2 independent one-on-ones.
Above all: If the Pensacola would have died, the points would have changed in favor for the other team - they would have lost. (Well, this woulde be true if Alexios would have got sunk, with a single point lead. :D ) My intention would have been to try to cap, at least to stop the other team scoring further points. But yeah, that would have been risky, too. But with a bit of teamwork, that would be managable, I guess.
Not to mention that if Kamikaze did outspot not_Alexios in open water, they still couldn't fire on them without exposing themselves to Pepsicola's 10 8" guns.

And if the enemy DD cam over to defend the cap, then the Pensacola would have been safe, and they'd have won even if ChaosMachine got killed.
Intros like that add a good start to the video thank you!!
Jingles the Verbis is a good BB with a properly trained 10 point captain in it. And it has fairly accurate guns on her.
Look up Bruce Willis' German voice. He sounds truly badass.
That's why we get him as special captain "Johannes Meck-Leyne" soon
Whenever torps hit an island, all I can think of is Cary Grant and that bit from Operation Petticoat. “We Sank a Truck!”
That paddling of the Halland at the beginning is just 👌
Another great video Jingles, love the tactical insights into a great game!!
the first minutes are the biggest banana on my face in years, beautiful animation.
He is another fella i love to watch from the elderly youtubers.
14:38 DUN Dun Dun! WP Chaosmachine GR. I always like him streaming on Twitch.
A ChaosMachine replay? I've only seen him in the Best of Twitch compilations but it's cool to see him here
"He'll hence forth be known as.." *COME ON GUS COME ON NICK!* "Alexius" DAMNIT.
Old School Jingles entro! LOVE IT!!
FYI, Lenigrad was just made available for 20,000 community tokens in the Armory, so it too can now be had for free.
Also, Pensacola has 25mm plating, which means it can bow tank 356mm and lower AP rounds.
Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes!
Well played. Thankfully the timer saved him from becoming the victim of "Win Harder Boner" of Pensacola.
HAHAHA NICE! LOVE the Dave Brubeck "Take 5" music!!!
Man I remember back in the day when I kinda terrorized tier III-VII with the Minekaze and Kamikaze, even after the Russian gunboats were introduced.
Nothing quite like hunting big capital ships and playing torpedo tag with enemy DDs :D
Chaos is one of the nicest guys I've ever known. Only he could keep the salt away!
I'm pretty sure the PepsiCola is always going to lose a torpedo fight with any DD, mainly because it hasn't got any torpedoes! lol
I think the Minekaze used to be 1kt faster and had 100m worse concealment but was identical in every other way.
what is this i hear about the Grose Currywurst...just when i finally got back in. bummer. keep up the good work Jingles
Hey @TheMightyJingles The answer to your question about "why the Gneisenau charged ahead?" Answer: Can't fix Stupid!
It's rare thing to hear that October Revolution is good ship, but it's the first time I hear that it's OP... :D Jingles you drunk.
"This is really bizarre behavior from the Pensacola," says the man who publishes weekly videos of people doing exactly this.
BACK AT IT AGAIN AT 0300 WITH THE JINGLES!!!!!
Quack
Time zones are a thing you know. He isn't releasing the videos at 3am in the UK
Thanks Jingles :)
Oh look, I'm in this one.
Oh no, I played pretty poorly.
Also Jingles, the Leningrad is now functionally free. You can get it for 20,000 community tokens in the armoury.
I adore the edit at the start.
Unbelievable this!
in hungary we had a tv show where they asked Sean Connery how he liked his dub, and he liked it very much
That intro though, 10/10.
Morning Jingles

Pensacola did fine with constant maneuvering the whole time to throw off any torps.
It was at this moment, Jingles knew, he fucked up! LOL!
I love this commentary
Turn of events the pensacola knew that the kamikaze has it torpedo tubes destroyed.
The next time you spot a pesky polish dd and you are in a bismarck, say it with me bois: Target accquired! lethel force engaged
Critical Drinker wants his 'Nah... it'll be fine' back
12:37 Duke of York reenacting the battle of north cape with the Scharnhorst
To those defending the pensa. No just no. It should have turned North instantly to put space between it and the kami.
But Jingles, you handsome, silver tounged bastard!
Thank God for the timer

To be fair to the October Revolution... he would have thought the Leningrad was still down engaged with the Kamikaze and Lyon, so he had no reason to think he had to maneuver.
He got spotted, unspotted for a few seconds, spotted briefly, and then unspotted again. Anyone with half a brain should realize what spotted him and where it is and where the torps are most likely going to come from. Just altering his speed by 1 press of the S key probably saves his life for that moment at least. He might have died eventually but who knows.
"Unfortunately he is now in a position that we in the navy tecnically referred to as proper fucked" ROFL
Dear Jingles,
Next time you spot that Polish destroyer, try this:
Bwyskavitza
So the slash L is basically a W and the W is a V?
I call it Bliss, it's shorter an nicer than butchering the real name of such a historically significant warship.
@@ibnu9969 precisely :)
@@Dr_V I rather like that :)
@@ibnu9969 Just translate 'lightning' into Polish in Google Translate and click the little speaker button to hear the pronunciation.
*As a Greek this pleases me greatly*
3 minutes left, ahead on points, and 1 enemy ship alive. it's time to win harder !
Thank you very much my brother from another mother!!!!! Alexios my bro Alexios love it!!!! Great honor for me boss!!!!!!
"a good 70 Points ahead" Jingles its 69 points ahead, Nice!
Oaklahoma. My favourite secondary ship in this tier.
Bring back Why u heff to be mad: warships edition! :D
IIRC didn't Eddie Izzard do a routine about being in Montreal and dubbing Sean Connery into French?
Yay my daily jingles fix.
IMHO, the Pensacola did the right thing: Pursue With Extreme Caution. The Honor of the Regiment demands it.
Good replay and commentary but no spoiler alert for that Darth Vader clip. Shame on you, Jingles! ;-)
Alexious... I thought you were going to call him Dave. :)
7:42 Interesting how navy terminology can seep into ordinary language!
Don't forget totally overpowered Oklahoma! ;)
i do like the Viribus Unitis. it may have not much health and is slow af but i have constantly good games with it.
also i am austrian so its obvious why i love it 😅
That Ohio gave that Halland an O-Goodbye-O!
I would like to see the Japanese carrier : Shinano. She's a sistership from the Yamato and Musashi but as an aircraft carrier. She carried things like Ohka kamikaze jets.
Oh thank goodness someone told me what ethnicity ChaosMachine is. I didn't want to ask because the likely options are, shall we say, antagonistic towards each other.
if you've been to his twitch channel, his nationality is mentioned on his main page, too :-)
What was that music after the "he f*cked up" in the intro clip? It reminded me so much of the Hellsing Anime ^^
