I took my car to a shop for an emissions light in January of this year. They said it was an exhaust leak and that I needed new rear sway bar links. I paid almost $1k for that trip and before I left, they gave me an estimate for regular maintenance things of over $2k. It was mostly for mostly fluid changes/filters/lights. I decided after that quote to finally learn how to do all the fluid changes on my own car…that spiraled into doing way more over the rest of the year and last month as I was doing a full suspension rebuild I noticed that only one of my rear sway bar links had actually been changed. The other is very clearly original to the car. It feels like every new job I take on, I’m finding something else shady that a shop has done and fixing that on top of what I was originally trying to fix. I guess because I’m a woman, they thought they could get away with so much more…and they did…but not anymore!
Love the energy you two put out. This almost feels like therapy. I can't watch without a smile on my face. Wish only the best for you two. This coming from Oregon
just a note for the diy guys on electric parking brakes, you can do it without a scanner, just remove the lever on the back of the caliper and turn the motor shaft to retract the piston
just run it all the way in same as the motor does, do damage done if you have a fancy car like a bmw, put the key way far away from the car or you will set a code, stupid warning light @@ChrisPatrick-q6k
years ago, my wife and her mom went and bought a us a ford areostar all wheel drive and sold them a warranty for a 2 wheel drive van. wouldnt you know it, the wheel bearings went out in the front and they wouldnt cover it. i learned how to do wheel bearings on that van because even back then, i didnt trust shops. ive never taken any of my vehicle to a shop and never will. ive learned alot about vehicles in my 50 yrs on this earth and ill keep learning because its enjoyable for me. plus the money i saved NOT taking my vehicles to shops, my tool collection is that of a professional mechanic. it helps that i enjoy wrenching on things of all sorts.
People want everything for free or cheap , you fix the brakes and a week later a tire goes flat and they blame you for that cause they want a free be 😂
Just found y’all’s channel a few days ago and I damn near seen every video. Learning alot! Just purchased a new 23 Civic so hopefully we don’t run into any issues! Keep up the good work looking forward to see you grow!
It's like being in a toxic relationship and now the customer is cautious because of the last 4 mechanics treated them wrong Hyundai and jeep shame. hope you guys repair the relationships 🌹
When I had my first car that I paid for myself when I was 18, I got warped rotors(didnt even knownwhat that was at the time) and went to Firestone to get it fixed. At the time I knew nothing about auto repair, they quoted me $800 for what I thought was pad and rotor replacement on both axles. Turns out they told me one thing and put something else on the work order and told me "sign here to approve the work we just explained" and like an idiot I didnt read it thoroughly. Turns out I paid $800 to get my rotors turned, no pads. Calling corporate got me a $50 off coupon for my next service. I now do all my own service on our vehicles unless its something I don't have the machinery or room to fix, and even then I learn everything I can about the issue before I do anything. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me, you cant get fooled again."
I watched your videos on the 3.6 V6 Pentastar lifter tick repair. I did the work on my 2011 Durango crew and now it cranks but won’t turn over. I think it may be a fuel issue but I’m not sure, what are your thoughts ?
So glad l found you guys !!! Awesome ! Honestly is so hard to find. ❤ Worth everything 😊 I watch one other honest mechanic Scotty Kilmer on RUclips 👍 Now l found you 😊❤
Love your channel, finding an good machanic is like trying to find a good doc. Do you know any machanics in the Richmond VA area. I am a Realtor and I like that you educate the customer, thats a good thing. A educated customer makes for a good experience.
So, with CPR, the breathing portion is no longer recommended. Consistent pumps are recommended to help facilitate the heart to pump blood which provides oxygen to the brain. I was surprised to learn this as I just recently took a CPR class.
My wife and I live in South Georgia. And she brought a 2006 charger RT with the 5.7 himi. And when she got home with it. I went out to look it over. She said it never got past half way on the temp. But when she shut it off. The water was bubbling back into the reservoir. So I knew she had a bad head gasket, cause #7 wasn't firing. And both #7 plugs was wet. And the man had lost 4 bolts out of the intake when he installed the heads. So he used 4 bolts he had in his junk. And drilled out 4 quarters to make them shorter, using the 4 quarters for washers. So I told her she's got a car that's worth at least a dollar.
i sell car batteries i dont scam car batteries its hard to find trust worthy people out here anymore glad to see honesty paying off i try to save them a dollar before we even speak about money
I worked in alot of shops and all they wanted was sales sales sales brake flush rad flush atf flush flush just scamming people out of service they did it need
Hey Mark, I went to school briefly. I had Ase’s but I stop perusing them once I figured out they really didn’t help me propel my career. I let them all expire.
Buddy of mine went to jiffy lube (told her a million times to stop but shes hard headed lol) they said they replaced her antifreeze. She only had 30k miles on a 3 year old car. I told her to bring it over. Still had the blue nissan coolant so i knew they didnt exchange it. Went to the store with her to get her money back.
Dang I missed the live stream. There is such a distrust between people and mechanics, and it's honestly not hard to understand why. Folks like you guys and Eric from South Main Auto are not only honest but you actually troubleshoot and diagnose. So many mechanics are code readers and part swappers.
I don’t follow what you mean here? And I’ll probably never be a consultant. I going to turn wrenches until I can physically no longer do it anymore. As long as the Good Lord allows 🙏🏽
@@AlexTheCarDoctor I have a lawyer now, bought a new car, bought a used car between 3 car shops everyone saying something different it was a nightmare.

I think there’s a way, you can put the electronic brake in service mode, manually, without a scan tool?
Yes there is a way but you know, when making videos for the public I have to show the correct way.
I went to a Mavis discount tire. They told me my shocks were leaking. I went home and checked them. No leak nowhere.

What is the State and location of this mans shop?

Problem is people look for cheapest place ,then they find out why so cheap, cause they don't know what there doing
What happened to the scams???
I think mechanic need to wear body cams when working on car. People pay for work and they dont do it that how people end up on the news
Especially in Florida everybody gettin shot.

I was in my garage trying to troubleshoot my stereo and missed the live! Turns out i have a bad speaker causing the whole channel to drop out. Smh.
God bless you both!
Thanks for your time.
