Hey I definitely liked the video, working for a main dealership we deal with a lot of “I took it here and now it’s got this problem” jobs. The car brand I deal with can have a lot of carbon build up on the throttle plates. Typically the ecu over time compensates for the build and it’s all good. But if the ecu loses power and gets reset like say the battery gets replaced, the ecu no longer has that compensation in the memory which cause stuttering at idle. That’s when we would recommend a throttle plate cleaning and EFI service. Always fixes the problem too.
I do all my oil changes so I don't take my vehicles to Walmart or any other quick oil and lubes place, but I have taken my tires and wheels to Walmart many times for mounting and balancing and they've always done a good job.
I'm a mobile mechanic and I charge 2 hour plus mileage upfront. And another thing is if the customer is local. If it is some random person from another area then parts and supplies are upfront too. It really is sad that you can't trust people these days
Love this video .. thank you so much we need these type of videos out here especially on the Fuel/ Air Induction Cleaning … question -Is the Fuel injector cleaning the same as fuel cleaning and falls in same category as the fuel induction cleaning ?
The last time I took my suv someplace to get the oil change they didn't listen to me on the oil. I told them 15-40 and they put what the suv called for it sounded really bad when the started it the suv has 236,000 on it
Good job my friend. Worked outside in North Dakota for a lifetime. Keep warm and working and learning. A good mechanic will have to turn away work. Honesty is paramount and you get it. God Bless, continued success!
I somewhat disagree on a timing belt change replacing everything, I wanted to save myself time, I know how to do it and have the tools, the shop near me I took it to. They wanted to change water pump, idler pulley, timing belt, sure thats normal. They also wanted to replace water pump pulley, claims it wears out, well first I've heard of that, told me they would also replace all 3 main drive belts, which seemed odd, I bought them 4 months ago because one failed and my dad always told me change them all when one breaks, and when I told them this their excuse was well those belts are under tension already and you need new belts that don't have tension already on them. They also wanted to replace my crank pulley and cam gear, all without looking at the car, I did ask them are you sure you don't need to do my power steering pump and alternator also, and their response was, "we will let you know" I did my owning timing belt.
We did our own timing belt too. Labor is the big cost here. They like to change out the water pump and other parts while they're in there. It's not an expensive parts but to have to do it the second time would cost alot in labor. We changed ours out while we were in there for the timing belt change. It is good to be aware and make you're own decisions.
Here is my take on induction cleaning I come across plenty of vehicles that start stalling in hot weather due to a clogged egr passage in the intake and I blast out the passage with seafoam to solve it. This issue will pop up more often as time progresses since recent engines have moved to looser tolerances, sloppier ring gaps with direct port injection meaning more blow by and carbon particulates collecting in the intake without fuel to help rinse it away. Soon enough everyone will be going electric and none of this will matter. In my humble opinion 2015-2023 has been a terrible period for automotive engineering 2024 and beyond is looking good though.
What about Firestone and their infamous "you need an alignment". I swear you could drive a brand new car across the street from a new car dealer and they'd try to upsell you an alignment.
Being there with them and when I refused the alignment they said the tire warranty was void thats why they’ve lost me as a customer. Are you listening Firestone the jig is up peoples are on to you.
This! I cant tell you how many times I go to my local shops for an oil change, pick it up, and its a list of items Im familiar with that are actually fine.
I work at Walmart changing oil and doing tires. And yes you are right. They are definitely idiots working at Walmart doing oil changes! I personally strive to make sure people's cars are done properly. The problem with Walmart is they just hire anybody and don't train them properly
Damn, I just replace everything… lol now that I do my own work, after paying for the car to get seen and crazy rates, I find it cheap to just buy everything I think it is and replace it all at once. With in reason, but you know what I mean.
You should've emphasized, by repeating it a couple of times, that charging a diagnostic fee up front is normal. Most people are only going to hear that no money should change hands until the job is complete.
This guy is wrong about fuel induction cleaning. This is a necessary service for most cars at least every 30k miles. There is an immediate improvement in idle quality and performance after service as long as it is performed correctly. Is this service overly recommended: YES, but it does make vehicle run much better, when it is needed.
I foolishly went to Pit Stop in Marquette mi. and was told They could not change my oil because my drain plug was rounded off. Crawled under here myself when the weather turned and the plug was fine, My guy I trust told me it was fine as well. Strange. Side note. Pit Stop told the guy next to me in the next bay they could not do his change either. So maybe the guys where just taking the day off. LOL
If the shop recommends a cabin filter change...FFS make sure your vehicle ACTUALLY has a cabin filter! There are some that have a bird cage like grill where the filter would typically go. So guess what....you dont need it done because you dont have one lol.
It's advisable to choose a registered repair shop, typically identifiable by a green sign with white lettering and should say Department of Motor Vehicle. If any disputes arise, Department of Motor Vehicle can intervene and mediate the resolution. Make sure the invoice includes their name, address, and registered ID number, along with a detailed description of the work they performed. When dealing with mobile mechanics, be cautious about environmental concerns; mishandling of waste oil, antifreeze, or any other fluids from your vehicle may leave you responsible for cleanup costs. Whenever work is being conducted on your property, ensure the workers are licensed and insured. Failure to do so might lead to you being liable for their medical expenses or facing potential legal action. In my years and experience dealing with mobile mechanics, I've observed, they often lack formal training and experience in the automotive industry. They might be enthusiasts but lack the real skills needed to work on today’s complex vehicles. Their focus is often on quick earnings, and they frequently switch careers with changing of the weather, making long-term commitments uncertain.
Fuel Induction is extremely useful. You can do it DIY very cheap, but it's a must getting some cleaner in there on a GDI. Seafoam seems a great duo product.
Well i learned my lesson . I took my car to this place called JEEP ONLY in Las Vegas , i knew i needed to go to my regular place that i go. but i was due for a oil change .and i was in that area. I first ask how much do they charge for oil change ? he said 189.00 , then i needed window washer fluid. They keep my car over night for oil change which i think they used the same oil that was all ready in it they put a cup full of washer fluid in now my window low fluid light keeps coming on i called and complain ,he said to bring it back ,and excuse me , but i said hell no :( you think i am going to bring it back i all ready paid 368.00 for this screwed up job you did oh, and supposed to had did a tire rotation , they took the one tire in the front and put it on the back. now i had to wait two weeks to take it to my regular place
Well since most warranty companies don't pay mechanics at all, or if they do it takes 50 phone calls and 70 hours of negotiations with the company to end up settling for less than you want just to get the car out. Most repair shops rightfully are declining the aftermarket extended bs warranty. I think I'll do a whole video on this topic actually. Best of luck, usually around here only the dealership will do warranty stuff.
A kid who changes your oil at jiffy lube or one of these lube places is not a mechanic so don't think they are just because they touch your car, you touch your car when you put gas in it are you a mechanic?
BUY AN OLDER CAR, YEP have had one new car in all the years i have been driving and when i can afford one i will go back to older cars i am familiar with since i did a lot of my own mechanical stuff, guys need to pick up and learn basic stuff, not hard to get a manual and do your own oil changes regularly and help save the engine. regular maintenance goes a long way in saving money down the road, new cars i will not touch anything past 2000 period unless i know it is one of the reliable ones recommended by good mechanics that are on you tube.
Warren..he is making a general statement. People generally do not maintain their cars..also cars are loaded with electronic sensors and parts..also generally just sorry made now a days. It is the world we live in today. Best to you ! 😊
Great info, wish all mechanics were as truthful as you

people are not stupid for trusting a large well established company to do a basic maintenance task correctly. don't blame the customer
I do all my oil changes so I don't take my vehicles to Walmart or any other quick oil and lubes place, but I have taken my tires and wheels to Walmart many times for mounting and balancing and they've always done a good job.
We need more mechanics out here with integrity and honesty just as you
I'm a mobile mechanic and I charge 2 hour plus mileage upfront. And another thing is if the customer is local. If it is some random person from another area then parts and supplies are upfront too. It really is sad that you can't trust people these days
Another Great video, informative and ,for me, extremely funny!! Keep on Wrenchin my friend!

from williston!! godspeed!
Thanks for the info, been burned before on a large job that involved an engine rebuild where half was paid upfront
People are lazy and stupid 😂

That had to me twice with Walmart... first one I know they did not put the oil back in. Second time.. no clue.
How was there a second time? Sorry, someone had to say it.
Damn, I just replace everything… lol now that I do my own work, after paying for the car to get seen and crazy rates, I find it cheap to just buy everything I think it is and replace it all at once. With in reason, but you know what I mean.
I know of two people already that Walmart ruined their engines. Hit it right on the nail.
Absolutely they may change the oil but not the filter I learned to do oil changes myself
Great video

What does fuel treatment do if you are using premium gas from say mb Mobil orcshell does it actually help

Thank you so much

9 min. Marker the point being made here needs to be broadcasted worldwide.
Very informative video, thanks
Are you a mechanic? Are you located in brisbane ?
Does his accent sound like he's from Brisbane?
How do you find a mechanic that will take your extended warranty I'm having a hell of a time finding an honest one

Well if the shop is scamming the customer paying cash, hes trash, if its insurance claim, its always a bit extra here and there
Yes well as a mobile mechanic your fucken rights I charge $ up front as I've been scammed lots by customers
.
Thats where you lost me...calling people's cars "piece of shit". Very unessessary and disrespectful.
