      Imagine doing this in south Mississippi. Pop up tents only work well if the sun is at the right position. Down here I’m soaked in sweat within 15 minutes. I try and work as early as possible but being a mobile mechanic you take what you can get. It’s a hard job not being inside a shop with a fan. I have all the respect in the world for this guy because I live it everyday.

    High end dealers and mechanic shops charge outrageous amounts of of hard earned money to perform basic repairs. The shop I was taking my 2011 Land Rover HSC 5.0 to, was getting $147.00 dollars per hour, and it wasn't even a Land Rover dealer. I now have a 1990 Dodge D150 two wheel drive truck, and do most of the maintenance myself, and what I can't do I have my in town mechanics work on my truck for far less money than anyone else around me. I like your attitude and the way you talk to your customers. Treat people right, and you have repeat customers ever time, plus word of mouth recommendations of your work from your customers, generates a volume business. I hope your business prospers my friend, keep up the great work and you have earned a subscription from me! 👍👍

    Nice work🤙especially in that sun, you can get stainless steel cable ties that are good for the rack boots , when changing inner and outer tie rods it’s easier to measure the total length from rack to joint as some pattern parts are different lengths so counting turns is no good

    • @QualityMobileAutomotive

    What I cannot stand is when people start asking prices and time frames. You are a mobile mechanic. Been there done that. Depending on the persons attitude is whether or not you might get a discount. A mobile mechanic is a shop on 4 wheels. Same hourly rate. It's all about convenience. You pay for it. No problem giving discounts to understanding customers. It will help your business by word of mouth. Just stay true to your work.👍

    Well, as far as the special tools go, in most instances you can do without them by using a more basic method (such as the pipe wrench here), but sometimes you have to have the right tools. When I was doing the inner tie rods on my Focus, the pipe wrench just wouldn’t fit. There was just no room to get it to latch on, let alone turning it. So, as painstaking as it was to use the special tool, I had to do it that way.

    The more expensive inner tie rods come with the metal 5 cent crimp clamp, the cheaper one comes with the 3 cent tie strap

      I had the worst time just trying to get all these parts. It took 3 days to get them all and I had to go to 3 different parts stores.

    I like slip on shoes and I did like the Merrils. But the side wore out of one of them fairly quickly. Now, believe it or not, Hey Dudes have replaced them. I do like them.

      I've had several pairs of hey dudes, and they don't last any time at all with me. The last pair I had wore completely through the sole in about 40 days. I'm not hard on shoes; I have sneakers that are 3 years old and are fine.
      Saw some Hey Dude-style shoes at Walmart for 20 bucks, bought a pair, and they are just as comfortable and outlast hey dudes by a long way. Just a thought.

    I wear timberland pros they aren't light but I have wore them for years for $150 boot I think it's about the best in my opinion. They aren't Redwings or some fancy comfy boot but they also aren't $500 and they last about a year and a half 2 years daily work mechanic labor etc etc.

    You'd think Nissan would have engineered flats on that shaft to wrench from instead of a new tool.

    • @QualityMobileAutomotive
      @QualityMobileAutomotive  2 месяца назад +1

      Almost all of them do have flat parts but you typically can’t get a wrench on them. The big tool I was talking about is able to grab them. I’ll show it in the service truck tour video in a few weeks.

    You need a fan. A small battery powered fan will do. I recommend a Ryobi. Ryobi gets a rather bad rap but I've been using my Ryobi powered tools almost every day for 4 years and they are tough. I got extremely irritated one day with something I was working on and I took it out on my Ryobi 3/8" impact. I slammed it down on the concrete with every fiber in my being. The impact went in one direction and the battery took off in another direction. I thought I had killed the impact. I picked the impact up expecting at least a cracked case. I then picked up the battery expecting the same. No cracks anywhere. I plugged the battery back in and it worked perfectly. And this impact uses brushes. Ryobi makes both brushed and brushless tools. Right now I have 13 Ryobi cordless tools but I still need to get a couple more of them.

      I have the Milwaukee m18 fan I forget it most days though. I was at a customers(also a subscriber) house and he has the ryobi fan but it had built in misters! I think I’m going to look into purchasing one of them to try.
